Sony needs to develop a flagship JRPG and WRPG franchise. There's a huge void in the market where Bioware and (good) Final Fantasy used to be. They should also probably buy Bungie in order to have a competitive FPS.

Xbox owns a shit tonne of IP on paper. But what good is it to own Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, Perfect Dark and the like when in 20 years of ownership they’ve only released;

- Nuts and Bolts
- Live and Reloaded
- PD Zero

1 game in each respective franchise. Whoop-de-fucking-do.

You included the most random franchises for Xbox. Geometry Wars, Conker , Dance Central, Viva Pinata, Heretic, Solider of Fortune?

Don’t mention Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, Returnal, Bloodborne, Demon Souls, .. Hell Knack might be bigger all those titles.
None of those are franchises, apart from Knack. Franchises = more than 1 game in the series.

If I'm gonna add single games then the Xbox and Nintendo lists are both gonna become A LOT bigger too.

The way I see it, Sony no longer has the luxury of being as secretive with what's in the pipeline production. I expect them to be more vocal about their value proposition because things look very different to the casual gamer now. Bring on the MGS, Sly Cooper, and Bloodborne Remake trailers asap!

wow that sony list is depressing the only series I care about are Motorstorm and Wipeout

Evolution Studios closed and liverpool merged with XDEV and no new news about a current gen game

When it comes to sony I guess I'm gonna be playing vita/ps3 games forever good thing vita is life

youre going by sequels over the size?

So like Stardust over Returnal for Housemarque.

I guess Everyone’s Golf, Arc the lad, Ico franchise, Ape Escape, Sport Champions, Resistance, White Knights Chronicles, Dark Cloud.. are the real heavy hitters.

Lists dont make much sense when you include franchises that are totally dead.

I understand trying to be complete but who cares about 1080 or Conker. The companies who own the IP dont care obviously
It's about listing up what notable franchises each company owns, it's not a list of the best-selling or most popular ones. Who knows what sort of franchises will be used in the future.

None of those are Western RPGS. They need at least one.
Star Wars KOTOR remake, Horizon, Assassin's Creed, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Deus EX, Mass Effect, Dragon Age... they have ton of them.

Now make me a list of console WRPGs not released on PS and if possible with decent sales of let's say 10M copies.

IP owned by Marvel. So has the rights to make movies, these rights are completely unrelated to videogames.

IP owned by Sega

Many publishers published it. Are you sure Activision owned it?

IP acquired by From Software in 2004.
But Tenchu is now Activision as far as I know, no matter who made it.

MechWarrior is apparently owned by Microsoft now.

I'm was unsure of Bayonetta and added it in haste, but of course, that's Sega, I'll remove it.

Spider-Man I can't find any concrete info on, I know Activision used to own the rights to the games, but I suppose it's impossible to say Sony "owns" anything related to Spider-Man games, so I should remove that game too.

No, you're wrong. Use google, wikipedia or something.

Source?

Marvel owns Spider-Man, Disney own Marvel. Marvel/Disney license many different publishers to use their characters on videogames. The case of the Spider-Man games made by Sony are only one of them.

Spider-Man appears on a shit ton of other games. As an example it recently was included in Fortnite, which isn't a Sony game.

Tenchu is From Software not Activision.
Mechwarrior I need to check.
Bayonetta is Sega.
Spider-man is licensed to Sony… it is Marvel IP.

I mean you added a lot of stuff to MS and forget all the Sony IPs.

🤔
