Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy |OT| We Got This...Kinda

Even at the reveal I thought it absolutely nailed the aesthetics and sound. Also, this is one of the only games in recent times with actually good looking women - even Peters mom is a hot milf, not to mention Mantis, Gamorra and all the other girls.

Yea there's a quite a few times where I laughed my ass off. The writing is fantastic.
I honestly can’t believe how good the writing it, the interactions between characters are constantly top notch it’s unreal. The game does such a good job making every character feel unique as well as the group being a bunch of misfits.

This game is going to shock a lot of people I reckon. Not only is the writing great but the visuals are stunning (on the PS5 at least) and the production values are far higher than I think anyone would have expected.

Really hope it keeps at this level.

About the writing, i watched that football thing reunion they do during battle and it was cringe and superfluos as fuck, hopefully it's gonna be better outside of combat.

If you told someone this was made by ND or Sony Santa Monica they'd believe you.
Not the walking/running animations, c’mon the game is not bad and does give off the GotG vibe well enough, but you cannot compare Drake’s running animation to Starlord’s one (see gameplay video posted above). The latter is not on the same level.

Reading impressions of people who have the game got me excited. This kind of singleplayer games are my cup of tea. Any news if there are any differences between the ps5 and series X versions? I have both consoles and not knowing which version to get is what keeps me from pre-ordering.

Its probably the same + dualsense support on ps5

I’m only 20 minutes into this and I’ve already laughed so much more than during any other game this year. The dialogue and interactions between the Guardians is exactly how a dysfunctional family should be and I absolutely love it!
This. I dont think I have ever laughed like this except during GTA many years ago

There’s one line that you might just pass off as a very comic literate joke early in the game, but it pays off in one of the best moments in the entire game very late in the story. I really hope no clout chasing dipwad spoils that tomorrow.

There's some good songs in there but there's some suspiciously cheesy/meme-y ones as well. Movie Mrs. Starlord had better taste.

My mind is blown at just how much dialogue and depth there is in this game, there’s literally tons of dialogue for stuff a fair amount of players will never even see or do. So much detail in pretty much everything.

By far the most in depth game I’ve played since The Last of Us Part 2. Definitely the best linear superhero game I’ve ever played so far as well. I have to say I thought there would be a lot more combat but I’m loving just exploring around with the amazing writing and visuals.

I think this will be the reaction of people who actually play the game. Others will watch YouTube clips and make shitposts claiming it’s just an Avengers re-skin.

The PS5 version is the one sent to YouTubers in advance.

Reviews starting to go up. I usually agree with a lot of Skill Ups reviews, so I'll give this a watch and see how he found it. But that title is promising at least!

99% of the time Skill Up matches my tastes (the only time I disagreed was with The last of Us 2). The fact that he added "strongly recommend" just made me pre-order Guardians right now. Can't wait to play.

Any word on the duration?

15-20 hours according to Skill Up (currently watching his review)

That's fine by me, I'll take a linear, single player only adventure with no tacked on shite that's done well for a change rather then another bloated open world game

Here‘s mine:

Ask away. Can answer any question now that the embargo dropped.
Can you describe the combat and gameplay for me like I'm 5 years old, and also compare to other games?

Is it lock on shooting and flying, then using abilities? Is there cover? Is it free aim? Is it melee combos? How deep are the defensive options? How difficult is it? Are there multiple difficulty levels? What games does this resemble in terms of gameplay?

Sounds like the story, exploration, graphics, and sound are all solid. Just still unsure about how this thing actually plays.

It took me just around 10 hours first time through, but if you take your time and find ALL the collectibles (these artifacts for each guardian) and the costumes it'd be ~15-20.

You can lock onto a target holding L2 and fire that way, it's like ADS sort of. But that's not useful in a big fight, you'd use that to get someone elevated or at a distance (before you unlock the Wind element that can pull them to you). Actually I found melee works well to. It's free targeting but when you hit L1 to activate the Guardians abilities it slows down so you have time to select what enemy you want each Guardian to attack.

It's about the same length as an Uncharted or TLOU. My first play though of GoW was the same. $60 wasn't too much for those games.
God of War seemed huge to me, and I can't imagine anyone casually completing it in 10 hours. But I only played it the one time, and explored so who knows. Uncharted sounds about right though.

While I would agree that compared to other longer titles for the same price of 60 bucks this can seem to be short, from what I've seen / read about the game so far, I'll happily take a 15-20 hour game that's well paced and decent to play.

I recently paid 60 Euro's for Metroid Dread and that was over in less then 10 hours and I was more then happy to pay it considering how great the game was.
