Netflix buys Night School Studio

“As of today, Night School Studio is joining the Netflix team.
Over the last few months, we’ve had countless thoughtful chats about our respective visions for where we see games, storytelling, and our collective opportunity for positive impact somewhere in the middle.
Night School wants to stretch our narrative and design aspirations across distinctive, original games with heart. Netflix gives film, TV, and now game makers an unprecedented canvas to create and deliver excellent entertainment to millions of people. Our explorations in narrative gameplay and Netflix’s track record of supporting diverse storytellers was such a natural pairing. It felt like both teams came to this conclusion instinctively.
Of course, it’s a surreal honor to be the first games studio to join Netflix! Not only do we get to keep doing what we do, how we like to do it, but we get a front-row seat on the biggest entertainment platform in the world. The Netflix team has shown the utmost care for protecting our studio culture and creative vision. We’ll keep making OXENFREE II. We’ll keep cooking up new game worlds.”

Netflix weren't joking around when they said they were getting into gaming.

To be honest the pace of their games will likely be suitable for streaming as well.

Seems Night School Studio likes money more than anything else. It's crazy how they keep getting so much cash with not much on the offer part. What did they make? Oxenfree was okay but a niche and then they took Epic's cash and launched an almost unknown game with devil and w/e and now they get bought by Netflix? Out of all the indie studios that deserve loads of cash, this was not even in top 100. Whoever is managing this studios finances should get a huge raise.

This isn't looking good. Imagine going all in and buying a huge publisher at some point, can't wait for the next GTA, exclusively on netflix.

Microsoft would be smart to cut a deal getting gamepass onto the Netflix platform as I can see Netflix becoming the dominant game streaming provider very quickly even without massive IP

Here is the future. Soon, everyone will be streaming with a subscription service to play games. Not sure if I'm down with the future any more. Upon thinking about it, it'll just mean more subscription services I'll need to sign up to.

So... will Oxenfree II come out on Netflix on day 1, together with the other consoles? It would seem rather soon, considering the game is targeting a 2021 release date
