Halo: Infinite - No Co-op or Forge at launch

Cracking Up Lol GIF

This game got a whole extra year and still can't meet the launch date, damn feel bad for co-op and forge folks.
Pretty crazy considering the one year delay, and that there still isnt an actual date. Presumably late November, after Forza.

I made a deal with my wife since we play a lot of games in coop.
the thing is that I play more than her and she is weak ,she needs her 8h sleep 😂

We play them separately first then we play coop , so it will work for us in the end .
But that's a bummer if we have to wait 3 months

and it still looks shit visually. I mean, what have they been doing for 5 years? It literally looks like the same game as Halo 5. They probably could've pimped out Halo 5 to 8K with ray tracing and it would look better, and would've taken less time.

edit: before anyone accuses me of "Sony crew drive-by shitposting", point me to a Sony game that has the same issue and I'll happily do the exact same thing. I'm a universal shitposter.
Infinite looks good. Much better than 5.

That's really sad, I'm sorry for the ppl that had plans to play with a friend at launch

But nice to see the 2021 release being confirmed once more, I only play solo Champaign, my wife doesn't care about games

Realistically it shouldn't, especially considering a few other high-profile AAA games have released this year with not only lack of story co-op, but sometimes fatal bugs and glitches, that didn't seem to impact their scores that much, or if they did, just in passing.

I understand campaign co-op is a tradition in the series, but like you said, devs are still needing to develop things during COVID. Some major AAA games have been delayed into 2022 because of that. You'd think most reviewers would be considerate of the circumstances and grateful for a game that (hopefully) turns out to have an excellent campaign and early MP content, but wanted to have something out for 2021 to make the year better for a lot of gamers.
They still have the gall to charge full price $60 for half a game with no coop on Day1. I was expecting an outrage thread with a poll from you but instead you're all over this thread defending this. Oh right there's a green logo on the box that changes everything.

Wow again they are not shipping co-op and Forge until season 2 and 3. WTF?

Looks like Covid fucked this game, along with the terrible development pre-covid.

So the rumors on this coming in pieces was 100% on point. Looks like campaign also might be getting released piece by piece each season?
The issues with this game is fundamentally not about covid. It was in development for 4 1/2 years before Covid hit. With the multi changes in leadership during development points to a lack of leadership and maybe cohesive vision.

Man if this is "half a game" what is $70 for Battlefield 2042.

At least we "know" co op will come in 3 months after launch..

Just wait if it's that big a deal.

GaaS titles, always prioritizing launching with less content than standard single player games only to promise updates that will come weeks/months later.

Unforgivable in my opinion. They released only online co op for Halo 5 - which is why I didn't buy it. And now this. I want to play the game first time through with the boys, not solo - never done that with a halo release - free on gamepass but massively disappointed

1) 90% of you bitching wouldn't have got it anyway

2) You don't have friends in real life to play co op with. Stop pretending.

3) It's still coming with more content than your 8 hour single player Sony banger. Sit down.

So why not just cut the fat since campaign not being a major part is now suddenly the consensus. Make halo MP only? or is MS not aware that the fan base is not in awe with the campaign coop etc. ?

sorry, bad typing. I meant single player coop lol

What a bunch of crap this is. And I'm not talking about delaying co-op for the campaign.
Like the previous poster said, most people complaining either don't actually care, where never going to buy it, or are just looking for something to complain about that involves Microsoft. Nothing to see here.....move along.......

No the campaign is getting seasonal DLC similar to Destiny and other service games. Rumored first campaign expansion is Arbiter campaign and second one is Buck.

Man this timestamp makes it sound like "do not expect tons of content on launch day"
Wow - he says not having basic features of Halo like coop and Forge is "part of being a service" - lmao. How pathetic do you have to be use that an as excuse?

No, being a service means that you continually update the game with new content so that player retention and engagement remains high.

Only shit developers or publishers use it as an excuse to put out unfinished shit which is what appears to be happening now.

Not me. Severely disappointed

No co-op campaign is pretty disappointing, as is the new season structure (GaaS), but at least it's only 3 months after launch. Never used Forge personally and couldn't care less. More importantly making sure MP is solid and not making the matchmaking retention based.

Craig strikes again

Seriously though, how did they not get coop in for launch with an entire year of delays after their previous delays? I feel like this would have been on the top priority list after all their talk about it.

1. Trying to get the single player (least complex version) in a good state that is polished and complete.
2. After 1 is done, iron out co-op bugs. Having 4 players across multiple devices in a semi-open world with a campaign full of seamless cutscenes sounds very challenging.

the only crap I see is the damn excuses made, I am maybe the biggest Halo fan on this forum, and FUCK these shitty developers for not being able to deliver A FINISHED FUCKING PRODUCT after 6 years of development and a FULL YEAR delay.

people like you are the issue shit like this even still happens. just ignore the bad things because god forbid someone says something bad about your favourite piece of plastic...

343 Industries HAD 4 FUCKING CHANCES NOW to deliver a good product, they failed at all 4 of them. Call of Halo 4 was their first strike, Master Glitch Collection was their second strike, Halo Advanced Warfare 5 was the third one and now, even tho Microsoft should have fire each of their shitty asses after MCC and Halo 5 they still kept that absolutely terribly managed shithole of a studio running and now they AGAIN fail to deliver a finished game with the features intact that every Bungie Halo launched with DAY FUCKING ONE!

Launching a Halo game without Coop is like releasing a fighting game without local VS, IT'S SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE.

Halo 5's playerbase died after 3 months PRECISELY because of missing features like forge and multiple modes that were franchise staples.

so once again,
FUCK 343 INDUSTRIES

It's a video game, maybe go drink slurpee and relax a little. They will add co-op later. It will be ok.

I mean, this should have been done multiple times over in the last decade of development for this game.

Sounds like mismanagement to me. Not surprising, but gees. After a whole extra year+ of delays...

edit: dudes defending this really sound like the victims in an abusive domestic relationship not gonna lie

I forgive them. Taming a mythical beast like the Halo Infinite engine is no small feat. You people should be ashamed for mocking such a talented studio.

Someone doesn't know the meaning of 'half'...

Said it before and I'll say it again;

With the development hell this game has gone through I wouldn't be surprised by a staged release schedule.

Late September = Free-to-play MP
December = Campaign with Co-op and the rest of the features.

December? What year?

The campaign co-op being delayed is disappointing for me, but isn't the end of the world. I usually play campaign in single player mode, then co-op with my brother. Forge is really not that big of a deal if delayed. There is plenty of multiplayer goodness at launch that there is no need to start pumping out user made maps right away. It seems like Staten must have made more changes than I expected to the campaign. How fucked were they when they made the decision to bring him back last year?

I'm gonna drop my opinion.

This game will flop.

The campaign will be garbage.

The online multiplayer will be mildly successful simply because it's F2P and also on PC but unfortunately it won't be popular ebough.

Overall it will get a 8 simply because of the Halo name. But the mindhsare for this game will come and go in an instant. And Microsoft will massage the numbers of sales and userbase just like they did for Halo 5. Anyone have the sourse for Halo 5 lifetime sales as I'm struggling to find it. Surely Microsoft would reveal something as sales numbers for a big game like Halo 5?

I guess I'll play the free multiplayer at launch, then pick up the campaign whenever co-op makes it in. Couch co-op is one of the best features of the Halo series from its inception, IMO.

How about they just release a full game? On the day of its launch. Halo 3 had all features day one. Halo 4 as well

And they were going to release this game last holiday season? This is all a joke to me and many others at this point. That's just the reality of it all. The prestige of Halo has plummeted so far. I am not even certain the co-op and forge will be ready even then. You can't trust 343i that's just the truth

I hear you, but not only has game development gotten more complex with time, but Infinite has a pretty different design scope compared to 4 and 5. It's a lot less linear than those games were, for starters.

The way I'm looking at this is, they decided to focus so much on revamping the single-player campaign and polishing that and the arena MP so much that they just did not have as much time to get co-op campaign and Forge ready in time to the same standard. Hence the extra time they need.

Overall I still trust the game's in great shape and headed towards the right path but I agree 343i still has a LOT of trust to earn back and delaying co-op and Forge ain't exactly helping them do so. I hope they do a preview of the campaign in the near future sometime close enough that shows some amazing stuff campaign-wise that many have been wanting since the original trilogy.

Why do people keep mentioning Gamepass, what has Gamepass got to do with any of this?.
Is Gamepass full of unfinshed games, or Early Access games?, no it isnt.

Combination of failed stand-up comedy and ignorance, more or less. There's literally a site that keeps track of MetaCritic score for all games in GamePass and the way some people jest about it would make you think most GP games are 60 or below, when that actually is nowhere near the case.

But hey, if someone has to feed themselves a lie to keep a schtick going then that's what they're gonna do 🤷‍♂️

Okay this legit made me laugh, so I appreciate that much

Otherwise, why would I make a bunch of hoopla over essentially nothing? Should I look at any game without MP Day-1 as half a game? Or any game without co-op campaign Day-1 as half a game? Because that would suddenly put A LOT of other games, including a lot of exclusives from two other certain platforms, into that category.

We don't know what other content could be there to supplement co-op campaign and Forge missing, and for all we know the game could have a very meaty single-player campaign. I thought single-player experience was supposed to be important, is it suddenly not? Also, and I rather not say this because some people are already using it in a derogatory context but, you technically don't have to pay the $60 if it's such a bother, as it'll be in GamePass Day-and-Date.

Not saying it being there Day 1 "justifies" co-op or Forge not being there at launch like some other posters are implying some are saying/insinuating, but it's a concession option not present with a lot of other platforms or services. I think that's something to appreciate as I try looking at these things optimistically, and yes that's for games on other platforms too.

You didn't see me saying dumb stuff like Ghosts of Tsushima should've been delayed to ensure the MP was there Day 1 given how soon after launch the MP came, did you? I didn't attack TLOU2 for splitting up its SP and MP either...but you sure seem to be ignoring any of those instances :pie_thinking: ...

It's almost like you guys wish you were in Stalinist Russia and could repress any voices that express disappointment about this news. No room for 'dissenting voices' after all.

I am not a Halo fan, barely played the first, but even I am aware that coop and the forge were two big attractions to the game. Seems so odd they'd delay those just to push it out a little faster. I figured they'd at least get coop in. Ah well.
