Halo: Infinite - No Co-op or Forge at launch

It's a shame we won't have co-op at launch, but since it will be there in season 2, 3 months later, this isn't a huge problem

Halo needs coop. Played the first one with my girlfriend now wife and had a lot of fun. The world needs more couch co-op games in general.
I agree. Did the same exact thing with my little brother. We stayed up all night the launch night of the OG XBOX and beat Halo:CE on legendary coop.

MP will hold me over til they add coop so me and my bro and my two nephews can renew the tradition!

If a game has co-op, I'm sure as hell will play it sooner or later with friends, but my first playthrough is always solo, so personally it's not a big deal for me, but I feel bad for those of you who cant live without co-op. Also, It will most likely impact review scores which is not great.

That said, I understand the difficulty of trying to make a huge game during motherfuckin covid times. Cant really blame them.

Realistically it shouldn't, especially considering a few other high-profile AAA games have released this year with not only lack of story co-op, but sometimes fatal bugs and glitches, that didn't seem to impact their scores that much, or if they did, just in passing.

I understand campaign co-op is a tradition in the series, but like you said, devs are still needing to develop things during COVID. Some major AAA games have been delayed into 2022 because of that. You'd think most reviewers would be considerate of the circumstances and grateful for a game that (hopefully) turns out to have an excellent campaign and early MP content, but wanted to have something out for 2021 to make the year better for a lot of gamers.

Yeah, no, are they serious? Delayed their game a whole year and two core features are missing at launch? Halo 5 without splitscreen, Halo Infinite without co-op at launch. Don't get why they still are running with the same product managers. These people obviously have no clue about their jobs.

It's almost like COVID lockdowns and quarantines don't exist, and the game didn't have to do revamps to the graphics or SP campaign after feedback from last Summer :pie_thinking: ...

343i being 343i, how the fuck you ship without two essential features? Coop has been a main feature since the first game, and Forge is one of the reasons why it is so played, they are killing their chances of surpassing Warzone and Apex without it. It's even worse to think that Forge will be only in half a year while it took way less to be on Halo 5.

Then delay it, how long they gonna make it the pariah of the XGS? Because i'm sure at this point they are giving up in favor of Forza and Starfield being the next brand image.

I mean they even say in the video that they got an extra year, but it was a covid year, and they had no one in the office for most of that time.
Take covid away and yes the 'concern' would be more understandable.
Like others have said, this isnt some 10 hour linear coridoor shooter with basic tacked on multiplayer.

I'm out. Fuck you 343i.

I'm sincerely furious right now, can't even articulate a decent response

Learn how to make a fucking game 343i

No company on the planet deflates hype as strongly as them; as a fan of Halo this is discouraging. Will the Co-op and Forge even work, given their track record? Just release it all at one

Halo: INFINITE yet content is not present until later……

OK

Let's not act like every single game hasn't been fuckrd by covid. Halo delivers a damn decent single player and multiplayer experience.

Yes the news sucks but there's some serious concern from accounts that I expected haha.

As long as the sp is top notch and the multi is dope it will be fine. It does suck that genuine players like myself will have to delay our planned co op runs but I ain't gonna act like it's the be all and end all.

How do you fuck this up? Coop has always been a big part of Halo. Reach was the only one I bothered playing Solo but that campaign was just amazing imo.

Not sure why people are making a big deal of it. Never played halo co-op, halo for me is always Amazing solo campaign first, then awesome multiplayer. Which both will be available at launch.
for those bitching here, you can finish solo campaign and play some mp for 2-3 months and then you will get your co-op.

I never played the campaign in co op or bothered with Forge so it doesn't bother me although I know a few who do and understand why they are ticked off.

343 obviously hasn't got the best reputation and people question the management there, who oversees them? It's the likes of Matt Booty and Spencer isn't it? Why don't more people in the media question them, the latter in particular gets put on a ridiculously high pedestal which is undeserving imo.

I hope they do nail the campaign tho because I want Xbox to have as great quality games as possible. The tech tests a few weeks ago got a lot of positivity maybe the campaign can without the co op.

lol this just confirms 343 hasn't gotten any better. I'm not throwing my money away on what will most likely be another mediocre Halo campaign.

The campaign got pushed to 2022.

Why would someone play an online game with just half the screen? Everyone is now online, no need to move over to your buddy´s house no more ..., you´re only getting the F2P "Warzone, Battle Royale" this year (for $185).

Co-Op online? Why? My buddies from my teen-years are gone, dead ... i´m not taking the console, the pad or the memory card over now to my buddies to play a game with them.

Are people still doing that? Thought the perception was, that LAN parties were dead. Never understood the whole co-op debacle with Halo 5 ... we are all online.

Abysmal handling and upper management. From top to bottom, this is a disgrace. I commend and want to say thanks the competent developers that keep hope alive with Halo: Infinite because I know a handful of brilliant developers are slaving away to keep Halo afloat make this game great but man, this is bad. It's looking really bad every year. I feel for the great minds that are going all out to make this game fun and legendary. Because the marketing team is essentially murdering the image for this game

No co-op or forge to start the game's release? It's just not, there….???? It's not even like they're not releasing it for a sales strategy or anything. We all know it's not ready. It's not fully functioning and it's not fully prepared to be included at launch. That's it

I wasn't excited for co-op but I was really excited for Forge and anticipating that mode. Six months….

I mean when you look at it that way, yeah lack of co-op campaign Day 1 looks sus. But again, the campaign itself probably went through a lot of redesign once Jason came back on board, there is probably a lot of content revamp, etc. and polish they've had to do.

Those should be the priority for now, they can always add in co-op functionality a little later.

Then delay it, how long they gonna make it the pariah of the XGS? Because i'm sure at this point they are giving up in favor of Forza and Starfield being the next brand image.

No doubt Microsoft are moving away from relying on Halo as "the face" of their Xbox brand (even if it will always be part of that face for the brand), but if they have the main story and main MP content ready for launch, and it's sufficient enough in quantity while being very strong quality-wise, why not release that for 2021? Why hold the main parts that are ready back, for secondary parts that may need a bit more polish, especially if the main parts will provide enough content to constitute for the price what some other games wish they could provide?

There's a lot of people who'd rather play some Halo Infinite versus none at all later this year, 343i just need to make sure the story campaign hits hard and the MP content there at launch is at least as good as what's been in the flights.

I mean they even say in the video that they got an extra year, but it was a covid year, and they had no one in the office for most of that time.

Like others have said, this isnt some 10 hour linear coridoor shooter with basic tacked on multiplayer.

Unfortunately we can't take COVID out of the picture (as much as it should not be a factor anymore; seriously I'm worried this is gonna be a recurring thing for the next several years and patience will be broken with lots of people sooner rather than later), but it seems like some folks can't remember that it's in fact still a factor screwing up lots of game development atm.

No company on the planet deflates hype as strongly as them; as a fan of Halo this is discouraging.

So you'd rather they lie to your face repeatedly, tell you all this stuff is coming Day 1 then play off the anticipation, only to be forced to come clean later before launch and look like fools?

No thanks. Let Abandoned have that drama.

As long as the campaign delivers, and we get a decent amount of arena maps then we good.

Best thing about forge being late hopefully means they have enough maps. Bare bones was Halo 5 launch and that sucked shitty campaign and bare bones arena damn near DOA. lets face it if co-op came 8 weeks later for Halo 5 no-one would have given a fuck.

I think they need to say what we are getting day one rather than what's missing. Say 10 4v4 maps 2 BTB maps and show a mission from the single player.

Not worried about the multiplayer after what I played of the tech test, but the fact we've seen nowt of the single player means its coming in hot in true Halo tradition, hopefully they fuke it

At this point I'm like, "Y'know, as long as it's included at some point, and the game is solid." That's really it.

I haven't been into Halo or played a new Halo game since Reach. This looks like a throwback to the classic Halo style, so I'm already more onboard than I have been in a long, long time.

Man.. My son has been asking for when it comes out like forever so that we could experience the campaign together in co-op.. Release + 3 months minimum..? Fuck that. It's a no-go for launch.

If only Zoro7 wasn't perma…. Would bring a tear to there eye seeing all the upset Halo fans.

I think it still will be good but Halo needs coop. I played the original trilogy as coop with my brother

Huh?

How about they just release a full game? On the day of its launch. Halo 3 had all features day one. Halo 4 as well

And they were going to release this game last holiday season? This is all a joke to me and many others at this point. That's just the reality of it all. The prestige of Halo has plummeted so far. I am not even certain the co-op and forge will be ready even then. You can't trust 343i that's just the truth

My second reply to this thread. But even with COVID, we are still talking about 6yrs of development and no coop at launch! This is halo that we are talking about ffs.

Coop has always been there day one. 343s management needs to go.

Guess they learned nothing from the previous game. I can't believe they would launch the game without coop, what a terrible choice. Halo is synonymous with coop. The game must have not even been close to launch last year, and they probably knew it. They probably have spent more of their focus on the multiplayer (and thus their heavy emphasis on it almost a separate product) and probably developing the Slipstream engine, which is probably part of the reason why this game has had a troubled development. The fact that coop is not going to be there at launch probably means that it's a feature they recently started working on, instead of something that should've been a core feature from the very beginning. Or perhaps I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they cancelled it and then added it again later. All we can hope is that in the end they deliver something good despite that, because I love the Halo franchise

?

last one had co op…

Guess if they learned anything it wasn't used enough to delay the release.

No forge.

Isn't forge how casual players play Halo for more than a week? Because without forge, custom games will be extremely limited?

Not sure who you're trying to fool.

ImpureShockingDeer-max-1mb.gif
Hey dont be an idiot. I have never played co-op campaign on Halo, ever. Load of people havent, just as loads of people have.
Dont keep living up to your custom tag. Its there to shame you, not encourage you.

It did, but they butchered it by not allowing couch coop to be there. To this day, is one of the many reasons why people don't like the game. I was just saying that to emphasize my point of how important coop is for Halo. The fact that it won't even be there at launch is even worse

Disappointing news, but honestly I probably wouldn't play co-op at launch bc I can't rely on some of my friends to get it to play with me lol. I'll just revisit it with them in a few months post launch.

Forge I can live without, too.

I would 100% rather 343 not delay the game again up to 6 more months to release with all that stuff and just release a polished solo campaign and a quality multiplayer this holiday.

So Microsoft's idea is to break up the games we used to get in full and deliver them in seasons to maintain Gamepass subscriptions?
Odd take.
How is delaying co-op and a map editor:
a. have anything to do with "seasons"
b. have anything to do with Game Pass
c. have anything to do with a game that owes 99% of it's longevity each installment to MP, which is F2P this go around
???
???
???

Ahhh, my bad. Yeah stopped using couch co op in fps in the n64 era myself. Anything that splits the screen is a no go for me.

How polished can it possibly be if they are STILL delaying major features and it STILL doesn't even have a release date, lol.

I've played infinite. It felt damn good and just needed a bit of polish.

All round horrendous takes from some big babies in this thread.
