Rumor: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on the way, nearing final stages of development, first tidbits

Based on a new report from Fanbyte, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is on the way, and is apparently not too far off from completion. The site claims to have first tidbits about the project and its development as well. Fanbyte decided to go live with its report following some recent comments made by...

As for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 itself, Fanbyte shares the following:

– The game is nearing its final stages of development, but its release date may be held back for any number of reasons
– Sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles 2
– The ending of the trilogy takes place in the far-flung future with a few returning characters who have long-outlived their human counterparts from both Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2
– This is why Coleman would be aware of a third game, as her character is returning and she more than likely has recorded voice acting for it
– Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was set to be revealed earlier this year
– May still be announced before the end of the calendar year
– The game has had a difficult time with pandemic development and optimizing the game for the Switch
– Aiming for more character models on screen at once than any previous title, accounting for both playable characters and enemies
– The game could be released as soon as the first half of next year, delayed from its original and now unlikely Winter 2021 launch target

XC2 wasn't bad docked.

XCDE had a weird thing there you could see a visbile line about 2/3s up the screen where the GPU started rendering stuff in full detail.

Oh well, it's Nintendo.

They may return to it later, but they don't really need to, X is a different series basically. I would prefer if they made a new IP removed from Xenoblade rather than continuing X, its not different enough from the main series while having less developed characters and world

Still waiting for XCX to be ported to Switch. It looks way better than XC2 (even though XC2 was pretty damn good).

The games are at least OK on Docked mode.
i skipped Xenoblade in part because of undocked (played Torna though 👌) all it needs is a good resolution upgrade and stable framerate.

But this shit that Xenoblade is 'too good' for Switch is annoying, Chronicles came out on the Wii. gamers loved it. Its a Nintendo series, if Monolith Soft cared more about framerate or iq they could optimize the graphics to run better. If X ran at 720p on a Wii U, i don't see why they couldn't have made a Xenoblade 2 that was native res on Switch, (even if not all time).

Again Xenoblade X, didn't looked or ran like it was too good for Wii U. Regardless i assume late Switch games will get ported to Switch 2 with improved iq+framerate

I stopped playing Xenoblade after importing the first one on Wii, back when Nintendo of America were dickheads about everything and didn't want to release it. I had to mod the Wii to get it to boot due to region locks. I still have yet to play XCX and XC2.

I'm going to be playing on the Steam Deck anyway, Nintendo would be wise to start porting their older games to PC. Even if running their own store client.

i agree, i think late Switch games will get fancier ports on Switch 2,Metroid Prime4 and Zelda are safe bets, Bayonetta 3 also hope gets an upgrade on launch too.

But what i see here is the typical Switch sucks! because its weaker. Yet its actually stronger than the previous systems Xenoblade was released on 🤔i just wish MonoliftSoft had planned better.

Again, those items weren't really important for a philosophical ending. Movies that are like that end on those all the time. Last one I watched was "The Lighthouse" (2019).

You mean where the texture detail would start appearing on the ground? If so that’s just Bilinear filtering.

I had my fill of side quest chores in XC1. There's a moment I was like, ok I'm sick of running errands doing the same shit over and over.

I gave up after 60 hours

You think you're finally done doing the locals side quest then you come back later and more appears , it never ends and the rewards are abysmal.

When you think about it, the way they replaced Fiora’s body with machine is quite horrific

I dont really believe they could give her human body back like they did in the ending, its not realistic

Unsurprising news since we knew a new Xenoblade has been in development since at least 2018 but still good to hear. Xeno 2 was a memorable experience despite the fact it was done by a relatively small team in a short period of time (a bit more than 2 years after the release of Xeno X), a sequel with more people working on it and a longer development cycle might surprise a lot of people, Monolith Soft are masters of world design (Xeno X is still impressive today despite running on shittiest hardware than the Switch).

2022 should be a good year for Switch games.

I liked them both, especially DE,

The combat has a learning curve but IMO its not that difficult, it gives you a lot of options but you can just ignore them and play as you like

Theres some good video tutorials showing possible set ups, its not really rocket science

This is awesome if it ends up being true. Xenoblade 2 and Torna were really fun. I still need to complete XenoDE and XCX.

I don't care much about XC1 cast returning (still a solid game), but if it's a direct sequel to XC2 with returning characters from that I'd be happy. As long as it's not another X game.

I remember being hyped for more Xenoblades 2 content during what turned out to be the Smash reveal for Pyra and Mythra. That one hurt. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
