Again with the games? We talking about Hardware, Specs and how underpowered it is. It cool that you love Mario & Zelda but the fact is that the Specs of the console is laughable in this day and age and with how they are pricing it at.

I'm saying that doesn't matter because I can't play a game like Zelda or Mario on a PS5 so theres no choice, its put up or shut up. Or emulate lol.

Its like if you commission a painting from an artist, you can generally ask for something but they are going to make what they want and you are paying for it because you want that magic that only they produce, you can go to a printer and get something duplicated or a collage of different original work, etc printed but they can't produce what the artist does.

Some things about the artists work might not technically be as good as what you get from the printer but its a tradeoff you make for the unique perspective.

Do you like Nintendo first party titles?

edit - It doesn't matter how the specs compare to the PS5 and XSX when you take the price difference into account, the Switch has the value it has because thats what people will pay for it. I genuinely mean this when I say try reading this, it will help you understand with perceived value and how markets work:

"Its not fair" doesn't factor into these things, sometimes people sell inferior products at higher prices, its just the world. There are other factors than image quality and performance when you are talking about games, in fact most people have those things at 3rd, 4th or even lower places on their list of priorities.

I'm flexible, if I can play a game at crazy settings on PC and it takes hours to set it up I'll do it, but if I can only play BotW on Wii U/Switch then I'll pop the disc in and play.

Well most of the people don't buy console based on hardware. The fact that most of the Nintendo games aren't available on anything else allow them to release such product knowing people will buy them regardless.

I mentioned it in the main thread. The Switch hardware is an abomination as it is. The PS5 Digital at $400 just further reinforces it.

Yes, it's laughable that they didn't subsidize their price to at least matching up with the poor and ignorant's fanboy expectation. They even had to create a digital version worth $400 for the PR.

XS X|S and PS5 are not portable consoles. Comparing apples to oranges.
Oh right, so that means this

Should be a similar or the same price as this

I was expecting atleast some hardware improvement maybe not 4K Switch level leak rumor improvement but atleast some kind of specs bump but no all we got is a OLED screen.

How can such an outdated hardware of a console be priced anywhere near $350? It's so underpowered yet, it costs just $50 US Dollar less than a PS5 Digital Edition. The Switch OLED is now more expensive than the Xbox Series S is, which is underpowered on its own, but is still miles stronger than the new Nintendo Switch Oled.

They Nintendo is selling us 2012 hardware specs with no specs improvement from the regular Switch which is already overpriced itself for almost the exact same price as a Next Gen 10 TFlops system is being sold for.

That all i have to say End Rant.

Good luck hauling that PS5 around. It doesn't seem very portable.

Lol honestly, this boggles my mind but I’m not surprised by a backward company, how are they selling a 4 year old outdated piece of crap which was underpowered at the time of release with a sub HD oled screen and charging $350?! I’d love to know what margins they’re making on this new switch oled.

I don't understand, at the end of the day a consoles primary purpose is to play games and (presumably) for you to enjoy said games, the Switch plays games and people enjoy them if sales are anything to go by, if the graphics/performance were below the threshold of what people will accept then that would make people not able to enjoy the games and then it wouldn't be as popular.

Some people in this thread don't see the games as having crossed that border, so they don't like it/don't buy it. I do this with console versions of games that I could play on my PC.

I think the real question is about what people consider "unplayable", I say anything below 540p and/or 30fps in almost all parts of the game (one or two areas being under 30 is an annoyance but not a constant hinderance) is unplayable because the fps would cause lack of control and be unpleasnt to watch and the resolution being lower than that might mean you can't interpret what the graphics are trying to tell you. I bet you'll find that any Switch games below those values aren't well respected by the majority, ie they haven't sold well.

But non commodity products aren’t priced based on what they cost to make. That’s not how it works.

Could be worse, could be a Switch lite with an OLED that doesn't fucking Switch at all.
That piece of shit.

I mean I hear what you're saying but I can't play the PS5 on the plane.

Should still be $50 cheaper, though.

Yup, my only gripes about the Switch is probably that Joy-cons. I have tried it many times before on my friends' switches and still I don't like it. Pro controller is definitely better, but expensive.

Even more concerning is that many have been reporting the analog drift issues. I hope Nintendo address this issue very seriously.

For a bit more money you can (in theory anyway) buy a more powerful piece of hardware. That's true. But people are willing to shell out the money to buy a relatively expensive Switch because of its unique characteristics and exclusive library of games. The Switch offers something much more unique and defined than a Playstation or XBox, and customers are lining up for it. Why charge less when you can get more?

Even if they didn't take it seriously or just didn't care, wouldn't it still be cheaper than giving the lawsuit even more ammunition against them? They can't even use the excuse of ignorance anymore and claim it will be fixed in the future. That excuse disappears in October.

It seem people here only think about power or spec without look at everything else . People seem to forget

1. They are big , cant bring it around easily . Can they play everywhere else without TV or electric ? nope
2. Storage . It cant read Physical like Swtich OLED . Not to mention Switch dont require you to install every game into their hardware like PS5 or XboX S, not everyone country internet is strong and quick to download 100 GB or has enough Data to redownload + delete game they dont play . So buying physical for switch still is mile better than PS5 and Xbox

You should atleast compare PS5 and Xbox X becasue they has physical .

I don't know why people compare these things. One has a battery and it's own screen. The other is a plug and play TV system. They're totally different things.

So Switch is insanely expensive for what it is, or PS4 (digital) is crazy cheap for what it is. Either way GAF fanboys are going to eat your lunch.

I know that their main thing is their games and that their fanbase is clearly not worried about specs, but I got to say this is pretty ridiculous. It's even more sad knowing this gonna sell regardless, it's Pokemon Sword all over again.

Ps5 is a single pcb and cooling solution.

Switch has that plus battery, screen, charging system, dock etc. All this adds up.

Still should be cheaper considering how long it's been on market.

That's not the point. Some of the hardware and features that are still NOT on the switch existed on the VITA which was released in 2013!

I thought PS5 sold at a profit from day 1.
Sony said they won't make a profit selling PS5s until next year. Currently they're selling them at a loss.

How’s the PS5s hand held mode and OLED screen in comparison to the Switch?
What does software have to do with the price of the hardware?
What do games have to do with a games console? I might not be an expert, but I think the answer is “a lot”.

And the game prices never fall...never interested in Nintendo's offerings, they are just too expensive for my taste.

Profitable now. Only Digital edition at loss most likely.

Isn't ps5 and series x sold at a loss ? And money is made on software ?
I think Nintendo must be making like 200+ dollar profit on each console .
I recently bought a switch for my kid and was mindboggled how bad the hardware was

Let's stop with the games argument for a moment. Why would you choose any of them? Think about that OP. Can you really give value to these consoles if you ignore games as the selling point?

Tbh I think it’s a good price. Considering Apple sells you an iPhone for $750 every year. Getting a gaming console for $350 every 3-4 years is a total steal. Ps5 is underpriced. So is the Xbox. Should have been 599 and 499 for digital considering scalpers are selling them for 700+.
