Annoyed at no Splinter Cell

Anyone else really annoyed we’ve had no Splinter Cell for nearly 10 years?

These games were so good and it really frustrates me that Ubisoft haven’t carried on the series, especially now as their is a real lack of spy games.

Would a new Splinter Cell make sense these days?

At this point I’d take a remake of the old games, maybe even prefer this option given Ubisoft’s garbage over the last 5 years

"This'll be the year."

I say that every year before E3 when it comes to a new Splinter Cell.

I've seen enough developer interviews to see that Splinter Cell needs a new hook in order to become commercially viable again. They can't just keep trotting out the same repackaged gameplay, sell 4 million copies, and expect growth.

It's so weird how they rebooted the franchise with Conviction and Blacklist (even though people loved Double Agent) and completely abandoned the franchise.

Before baking the dish make sure you pre heat the oven to 375 degrees. It's helps get the base solid while maintaining a soft inner part.

Halfway through spread butter in top. 30 minutes later you can take it out and reap the rewards of that sort succulent dish.

You can play pretty much all of them on the Xbox. The last one I have lauded was Blacklist.

you can play all of them, even both versions of Double Agent. and all of them are X enhanced as well. so the og Xbox games will run at 1920p and the 360 games will run at around 4K
pretty sure the online modes of the 360 games are also still up and running. so you can totally still play Mercs vs Spies in Double Agent (360) online.

blacklist also has that mode, but I found that version weird

I was very excited that they were bringing back SvM in Blacklist and then felt INCREDIBLY underwhelmed after I played it. Not even sure as to why, it just didn't feel like it scratched that same itch as it did in Chaos Theory. Though as a complete package I really dug what they did with Blacklist, it's co-op mode, while not nearly as awesome as Chaos Theory or Conviction, was still a good enough time. It's vs. mp was underwhelming, but overall between the co-op and single-player campaign I thought that Blacklist was still a pretty good package. I didn't even mind the Michael Ironside recast voice actor. Not my preference, but I don't think the guy did a BAD job outright.

They'd probably find a way to ruin it. It might be better to leave its legacy alone at this point.
Yup. I also suspect that Ubi has abandoned any franchise with a single male lead, or they changed it to both female and male protag. So either there wont be any next Splinter Cell or it will involve a female only or choosable protagonist with no soul and cringy dialogue.

I JUST DON'T GET IT.

Like, why? Why isn't there a new Splinter Cell? Did it not make enough money? Did it not cater to a specific type of genre that should be able to be turned into a AAA blockbuster?

I don't expect them to go back to Chaos Theory era of Splinter Cell, not with Ubisoft, but just anything - even an open world Splinter Cell - than absolute nothing.

We're sorely lacking these type of Stealth games, and you know it's a bad sign when the most Stealth based game I can think of in the AAA spectrum is Hitman and TLOU 2.

Did you actually buy it or just going on what YouTube said?. It's actually not a bad game at all.
Buy what? Ghost Recon? I have both Wildlands and Breakpoint, plus all the DLC for both. Why would you just assume that someone‘s opinion was spoon-fed to them from a YouTube video if it doesn’t align with your own?

That's usually the case these days sadly. I have both (but only the season pass for Wildlands) They're far from terrible games and now Breakpoint to Ubisoft credit, is actually quite good and fun to play
I would rather see the games return to their more linear 360 styles of gameplay mind.

Probably cant figure out a way to monetize it.

This.

Not the ideal game to ram with resource and weapon packs and skins so ip doesn't exist to them.

Current Ubi wouldn't be able to make a solid splinter cell now anyway it would just end up being a hand holding simulator not a stealth game.

Is that YouTube telling you, or have you actually bought it ?. While I agree its nothing on the 360 games, its far from terrible and on the Series X plays really nice now too
🤔🤔🤔🤔

I have wildlands, its mediocre cookie cutter garbage. The driving physics are worse than GTA 3> The tactical options are worse than Rainbow Six on Gameboy Advance or some shit.

Its ass

After playing the COD4 remaster, I'd rather they just leave Splinter Cell alone.

Let me enjoy the words of Sam Fisher I remember from Wildlands...

I'm not.
Despite being my favorite series of all time, I'm glad the series is dead.
Given the state of current year Ubisoft, I hope it remains that way for the forseeable future.

They can’t find a way to set it in an open world or monetise with shitty online content.

Hopefully Ubishit never make a new one.

Splinter Cell was one of those series that were a moment in time. They were perfect for when they released but doing them today it just wouldn't work as well. Both devs & the public changed too much for a new game in the series to release which would do justice to that legacy.

Current day Ubisoft would likely destroy the franchise if another one was approved for development. The games on XBOX and 360 were all great fun, but...

They've destroyed Ghost Recon, made Rainbow Six into a "game as a service" model with silly hero characters akin to every other mediocre copy and paste cartoony arena shooter, Assassins Creed is basically Madden with swords released on a yearly basis with new skins, and then there's Immortals which is basically Zelda lite.

They "destroyed" Ghost Recon if you want it to be a milsim, but at that point you may as well just play Arma 3. Which has pretty much been the king for a long time anyways for the genre.

The Tom Clancy videogame brand hasn't been about milsim in over a decade anyways so what they've done with Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six has just been an evolution of their style. I really enjoy what they did with Ghost Recon, and it's open world co-op is a blast. They really did a great job at improving Breakpoint as well after it's rough launch. I think you make a fair point about Rainbow Six: Siege, but on it's own merits it's a really fun MP game. Though I vastly enjoyed the R6 as a way of playing co-op against PC, we'll have games soon enough to fill that void that Ubi kind of left on the table. But I would still say that both of those franchises are still really fun, even if they've evolved pretty drastically since their inception.

They could make a good Splinter Cell if they really wanted, and even if it were to release and it's not exactly what people want, Ubisoft had an incredible track record of sticking with their titles very long term to make massive improvements in regards to criticism.

This is the State of Splinter Cell franchise in 2021. Ubisoft seemingly adding Sam Fisher as a collaboration character to all their games except his own series, the Splinter Cell games. Rainbow Six Siege, Mobile game Tom Clancy's Elite Squad, Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint all had Splinter Cell DLC and now Tom Clancy's XDefiant. VR Game was announced. But the real continuation of the Splinter Cell franchise is seemingly only a dream for its fans. But even if Ubisofts decides to make a new Splinter Cell, what kind of cash-grabbing microtrasaction-ridden open world monstrosity could they create? Maybe it is for the best if Sam retires.
