In motion they'll get everything back and then some. Do you intend to pause the game in the photo-mode without playing it?
I will say that from playing all of the games, the one thing R&C doesn't lose from being 30fps is smoothness of gameplay. They've done a great job since the PS2 era of making 30 feel like 60. I know people will quote this for laughs but there is a difference and there are some devs who are bad at this and will make you feel the 30fps and frame drops.

Hmm I thought I was crazy. Was the trailer running 60 fps because it was smoother to me. The state of play was running 30fps. Someone post some comparison on Era, and it seems the trailer was missing Ray tracing.

You console peeps really need to play 60fps games more, you guys really struggling to tell a difference. There was plenty ray tracing in that gameplay.

Some time ago I said that the xboxers needed to prepare their hearts from when the Sony first part games started to drop, being made to take advantage of all the new power available in the PS5, but I made a mistake... I forgot to prepare myselft!

Insomniac is still such an underrated studio!
I just started to watch the new gameplay but had to stop already on the first minute.
Look at this!

How much will this thing improve with the launch day patch?

I noticed too that the reflections on clank werent as obviously ray traced as they are here, so maybe there was something to it.

That post just above makes it clear to me.

As a fan of the series, a few things to note:

Based on the team adding a dash feature, they either nerfed the hover/boost boots or they felt that the boots were too 'loose' and caused too many player deaths in older Ratchet games.

Before you would simply use the boost boots to boost ahead of an enemy to avoid an AOE attack(because you could not strafe with them), but now that dash is in, you could just dash out of the way to the side to avoid these attacks which is a good change. Maybe they've taken inspiration from other dash based games.

Both the dash and the tears may point towards enemies being more aggressive than before, DOOM style. Looking forward to higher difficulties and the new arena because of this.

All of the other gameplay systems they've introduced(puzzles, aerial combat, and challenges from past games) all look pretty smooth.

More armors means hopefully a more balanced progression and bolt earning system(instead of just giving you thousands or millions near the end of the game). They decided not to bring back any of the base control/base defense gameplay from R&C Full Frontal Assault(or maybe they're hiding it as of now).

Accessibility options are both new and huge for R&C. They've always have been lacking quite a few menu options in each iteration, which was odd to me.

Mixing up battles by instantly teleporting you to new locations(changing cover areas and verticality) is pretty crazy and cool. Same goes for mixing up entire open area zones/worlds with this. The amount of thought and work that had to go into this must have been insane compared to other games. Imagine Spiderman traversing through New York, Chicago, and LA and the area changing between the 3 cities instantly during a story mission. I bet that's what Web of Shadows devs were going to attempt but they had to scrap it for individual levels instead.

Pistol, Bomb Glove(Shatterbomb) and Shotgun still being standard weapons in all games, as expected. Hopefully the newer weapons are more creative.

The writing seems to follow the PS3 games: More serious space adventures and lore, less comedy.

I'm hoping, if this is the final game, that it wraps up quite a few story threads regarding the Lombax race that were left open/unanswered in the PS3 games.

Edit: I was hoping Rivet wouldn't actually share the same weapon bank with Ratchet. Aside from not having the hover/boost boots, this makes her feel more like a skin swap so far rather than her own character. Hopefully there's more to this.

What makes you think this would be the final R&C game? I don't see Sony letting this series die anytime soon (i.e. until it stops selling).

Thats actually 60FPS vs 30FPS.

And why I will always go for 30.

Game looks really good, the density in the levels are really something else. Wish the PS5 was available here in belgium, its hard to get a next gen console or a GPU these days. Covid can fuck off 🤬

Time between releases, possible loss of sales, and also developer fatigue. Ratchet and Clank have had 10 entries released from Insomniac and 5 more if you count spin-offs/other devs. If they wanted to let this be the last(especially after the Reboot game that was half-butchered due to dev time and being a movie-tie in), I'd understand. However if they do, I'd hope that they at least answer the question that has been lingering for 5 games now: Where did the entire Lombax race go?

I wonder if that top screenshot is the 60 fps mode.

Looks like its 30fps 🤮
It has a 60 mode too.

Knows those backgrounds stuffed of things that you occasionally see? Now that is the game, and better, looks really nice to play!

Those pocked dimensions are new and interesting, mini levels inside the level currently loaded, zero transitions in and out.

Makes sense, this video was in 30fps on Youtube.

Why would they have different weapons? The gameplay is going to be the same regardless but she has her own voice and seemingly has her own walking animations as well.

Seems like that's why Sony put so much custom I/O hardware into the APU.

A system with I/O bottlenecks would make a game like Ratchet a lot more difficult.

It helps not only mix up the gameplay more but also adds more replayability, by giving her an entirely different gameplay feel/set of skills and weapons. What I was hoping for is similar to what they did for Clank in a Crack in Time.

From what I understood, the game runs at 30fps, but will have a 60fps mode with the Day 1 patch and it'll also include RT like Spider-Man.

Beautiful game! Like damn! Some parts are a little too clean for my liking, but when the action starts going and things are flying all over the place it really starts to look like a CG movie.

I was only slightly excited for this game when it was announced, having never played a single game in the series. Then they gave out the first one for free, and I'm playing through it, and it's a lot of fun for such an old game. The story is weird and chaotic, but the gameplay is oh so fun. Not the kind of game I thought I would have liked, but now I'm really hyped for this sequel. Looks beautiful too.

They have only said it will have a 60 fps mode. That was confirmed last year.

Nothing to do with a day 1 patch.

Miles Morales has 3 modes - 4K30+RT / 60 / & 60+RT (added via patch)

So far, we know R&C will have the same 4K30+RT / 60.
