PlayStation 5 Orientaion

Like most consoles of the last couple generations, PS5 can be set up either vertically or horizontally. Horizontal turns out to be the most reasonable set up for most people, but it is definitely the worst way to go with PS5. The stand is janky and unsteady in horizontal mode and comes loose whenever you move it a little to access the back or even while using the usb in the front. I took out a shelf in my TV stand just so I could set up my new Digital PS5 in Vertical mode and it feels way more solid, stays cooler, and looks cooler. This is the way this console was designed to be setup. Or to phrase it in a more critical way, Sony kind of dropped the ball on the PS5 design when it came to the horizontal mode.

I have to stand mine up because laying it flat results in some really loud vibration sounds, which is mitigated by placing it vertical.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Vertical takes up less space and just looks better to me. And like you said, it's more sturdy standing up.

I use it horizontally, and yes the stand is a bit loose but it's not a big deal as I don't really touch it except if the maid is cleaning I find it slightly moved. Just make it fit in your setup, there is no perfect position from my perspective.

Standing up as it looks way better. Plus the stand works properly when standing up.

Ok, so I'm not the only one who thinks the stand is flaky and vague on if it's on right in horizontal mode. If you need to move it a bit it also comes off too easy. They should have had some sort of click in latch and feedback.

Space dictates horizontal for now, but it's going vertical when I build my new desk setup.

The ps5 definitely ain't straight like the ps4. It's more curvy. Though since it can play ps4 games, I'd say it is a bi sexual orientation.

Horizontal for me. I don't have the space to stand it vertically. Also, since I got lucky as fuck in getting one, I'm bothered if I set it vertical my cat would knock it over and break it ;)

Needs to be vertical, and i find the lack of adequate ventilation on all 4 sides of your PS5 disturbing.....

You don't have enough space in the back which is where the air mostly blows out of. Needs to have at least as much space as the other 3 sides. We'll be seeing you in the Coil Whine thread shortly

I use it today in horizontal but I should love to use it in vertical.
I can't put any vertical console here because it will take part of the TV screen.... there is just 18cm I believe between the shelf and where the TV screen start.

Either direction the goddamned thing lights up the room like a beacon while you're trying to stream a movie with the lights out.

Actually you only need real exhaust space in the back. The top and front are mostly intake to blow air across the system and out the back. The bottom of the system doesn't need much because of the stand when it's vertical. But yea those pics in the OP are an overheating nightmare.

I don't have a backing on my TV stand just for exhaust.

I have mine vertical next to my tv and it looks ridiculous. The led light is too bright. Like im watching a 4k blu ray and all i see in my peripheral vision is the fucking white led from the ps5. I think once i get the series x it will go in its place the ps5 can fuck off back to horizontal under the tv in the cabinet. If it fuckin overheats then so be it.

Every time I see a PS5 I ask myself “What was Sony thinking“. It’s huge , weird looking and wouldn’t fit anywhere in my entertainment center.

I refuse to buy until we hopefully get a redesigned slim model.

It is ugly, but there is some design though on it.
PS2 and PS4 are the best designs from Sony. They at least try to make some sort of design, they could just done a box shape console and call it a day.

PS5 slim with better design is much needed.

ItsTheNew

I believe any game made before 1997 is "essentially cave man art."
Horizontal with no stand in a cubby hole in my entertainment center. The fuck I care about wobble or fans at max rpm, I have a warranty on this thang.

As long as you don't jam it into a small space and close the door on said space, you'll be fine... if you do this, look forward to a decreased life span of your PS5, don't be shocked when it happens.

Different cultures, I guess:lollipop_grinning_sweat:. I know foreigners here as well getting maids :lollipop_tears_of_joy: . We got 3 at home and getting one for my little family. Pretty common here and it's not as expensive as you think.:messenger_winking_tongue:

My man, I am literally jealous. I don’t mind doing housework but my goodness it gets overwhelming sometimes, especially with a kid thrown in to the mix and working from home.

As I remember, maids cost around $700-1000 back when I was in the US between 2002-2004 but we got ours and those "rules" don't apply on diplomats. Last maid was $260/mo (100 OMR), some maids from some countries + experience can get up to $416/mo (160 OMR). As you can see, it's manageable, and some are as low as $208/mo (80 OMR). A decade ago or so there were for as low as $130/mo (50 OMR). But of course, you have to provide food, shelter (room), healthcare, etc. The visa now is now a bit expensive ranging from around $2,600-4000 on average for 2 years (then you can extend for much cheaper if she decides to stay).

Women here are too spoiled nowadays. :lollipop_downcast_sweat:

I just keep my maids in the shed out back, gave them an old coca cola fridge to store their food and they shower under the garden hose. They said they'd find their own food and I've not seen any squirrels recently so they are doing fine I think.

Vertical all the way. The only console I ever used vertically was the launch X360, but it was out of necessity, I didn’t like it that way. But the PS5 is truly designed as a vertical console, best design ever imho, looks like a beast of a machine.

It was bigger than expected when i first took it out of the box, but it truly is an awesome console. Vertical, FTW
