Yeah. Weirdest part for me is the idea that tonally its such a departure from the first game, when it really is more of the same.
The original is hardly a barrel of laughs, starting with the death of a child, and ending with shooting an unarmed woman!
I get that some people wanted a happy ending for Joel, but realistically that was never on the cards. And quite honestly I really do not understand some people's insane attachment to the character.

And God of War was still in the PS4 charts in December 2018 while Last of Us Part 2 is MIA since the end of September.
And what makes it even juicier God of War was released in April and Last of Us Part 2 in June during a global pandemic, when people had to stay inside.
The sales have picked up so much, that it is somehow not in any of the PS4 charts worldwide. If it would have to sell another 3-4 million, it would have to perform like Animal Cross and not like Last of Us 2 Part 2
btw. if you bring up Gamestats, the Ghost userbase was always growing faster and even the userbase of the first Last of Us was growing faster than the audience of Part 2.

Look it all the sad little kiddos crying that Joe criticized TLOU2 and how he is a nobody whose opinion doesn’t matter. Yet if Joe gave it a positive review these same sad sacks would be praising him to kingdom come.

I'm currently playing TLOU2 whenever I'm at the ladies house. So far it's good, but not excellent.. But I haven't gotten far yet. Hoping it will pick up some momentum going forward.

As far as I can see, the only one who provided PS4 charts was Sony and it was God of War was 16th on the top 20 charts and missed the following months of December and January. It did make the top 10 during the month of November on the PS Store. TLOU made the top 8 on the PSN store in Europe and America.
We had this conversation before and you always try to prove that it's failing when its not.
I'll be sure to tag you when it's reported that it has surpassed 10 million in sales.

PSN store is really your argument for why it does great or even good? And completely ignore that is not in the physical sales charts anywhere, while other titles still are.
Do you really expect that those 3-4 million sales come from the PSN store?

I'm one of the people who think The Last of Us part 2 shit the bed with it's story. For me it was pretty much an empty, pointless waste of both Joel & Ellie as characters.
Having said that, there's no way in hell it deserves to be in a top 10 "worst games of the year" list. It's maybe the best looking game ever created. Seriously, it's production values are unmatched, the visuals are out of this world & I don't remember a single bug or glitch of any kind during my time playing. The entire cast all do great jobs (with the terrible script). The soundtrack is fantastic. It has the best & most wide ranging accessibility options that I've ever seen. Last but not least, it plays like a dream. Naughty Dog have refined their gameplay systems to an S class, god tier level.
If you're looking at the game & trying to make a fair judgement, there's no way you can say it's one of the worst games of the year because it so obviously, blatantly is not. Most disappointing? Sure, I wouldn't argue with that.
The story failed terribly, in my opinion. Everything else about it is objectively excellent work by people at the very top of their game.
So yeah, even though I share his disappointment with the continuation of Joel & Ellie's story, I'm not with Joe on this one. No way.

Yeah, Warcraft 3 Refunded should be a number 1 on all "the worst of all time" lists going forward. I don't see anybody taking something so good and turning it into such shit in the foreseeable future.

That's the top games of 2018, NOT the month of November or December. The Last of Us Part II was the 6th best selling game of 2020.
God of War made the top 20 of November's 2018 NPD, but didn't make the top 20 in December or January. We did not get top 10 PlayStation 4 games sold during that month as we do now from NPD.
What you don't realize is that NPD tracks revenue and not units sold. This means if a game at number 20 sold 50k copies at $50, then God of War would have to sell a shade more than 100k to surpass it because it's selling for half the price during that month. PlayStation charts the most units sold during that month. Yes, EU being the biggest region and US being the second, it really does matter. Lets not forget the fact that it has bee charting across Europe during this time.
But as I said before, you're going to ignore facts, so I'll just tag you when it's announced. I'm done with this conversation.

I have seen more than a dozen streamer turn on all accessibility features after they reached Abbies part because they did not care anymore and it destroyed the complete Pacing of the game., It is like playing it twice.

TLOU2 had a really stupid story with gameplay that felt dated and tedious. But it had nice graphics...
#2 still feels a bit harsh. It would probably be up towards the top of my list of what I played in 2020, but since I don't review games I can normally avoid playing most of the stinkers each year.

Sorry, but whilst not explicitly stated I thought it was fairly obvious that you are using sales metrics as an indicator of quality. If not, what was your point? Why discuss sales at all, or chart positions, in a thread where the game is listed as the second worst game of 2020, unless you’re trying to make a counterpoint?

He thinks the game is a flop because Sony is not updating sales figures. He later compared GoT and TLOU2 price point as proof, but I told him God of War was under $30 for a long time back in 2018 so it doesn't prove that the game is a flop.
I'm done. We'll see the sales figures later this year (I'm sure of it) so the facts will come out eventually.

It’ll probably hit 10 million sold because it’s dirt cheap, backed by Sony and comes from a studio with great previous pedigree. Do you think those sales are worth it if the next game tanks because no one wants to play as Tiger Woods?
Since September/October last year the game has regularly hovered between £20 and £25 in the UK. It launched in June.

You're trying to force your opinion and it's not going to work. A game being good\bad quality is subjective. They made a game that millions of people loved and they wanted to make it divisive. It's their third highest game in Sony's history in the US, beating the likes of Uncharted 4, the original TLOU in less than a month. That is a success no matter what attempts you make to spin it. God of War is their second highest game ever and it was $40 for the entire summer, under 20 in December and $25 in the month of January of 2019.
Search God of War on Slickdeals and look at the deals they had for God of War. It was $18 on Gamestop and Amazon in December in the US, which is a bigger region than just the UK.
