Hitman 3 surpasses its predecessor to claim No.1 (PS5 took nearly 50% of sales)

The console is only a couple months old, my guy. Back when the Switch dropped literally the only thing worth playing was BOTW, so...

Not to mention you’re comparing a system that’s been out for 2 months to a system that’s coming up to its 4th year on the market, it’s fairly obvious the Switch has more on offer right now...

Dont take notice of this fool. He made a bunch of dumb points that had no merit the other week.

Nintendo has never had a console out sell a Playstation console apart fromt the Wii over the PS3. Which wasnt by much.
PS5 has a good line up in its first year of release unlike the PS4 and more than the switch

You can't even cherry pick to put PS5 games sales in good light since Sony refuse to share numbers and gaming articles are painting a grim picture.

Its been out what 2 months? And outsold everywhere. Not enough to deal with the demand. Give it some time to see how much the games are selling lol.

Considering TLOU2, Ghost of Tsushima and Spider man MM were in the top 10 most sold games of 2020 I dont think its grim at all...

In the OP you have datas about the UK market for example?
Half of the total software sales of Hitman 3 were on PS5? Does that count as software sales for you?
Have you tried to read the OP before posting?

And to answer your question more globally, PS5 software is selling greatly everywhere but in Japan where there are no units (250k total installed base) and no games catered to the japanese tastes.
And infact you posted japanese related stuff in a UK sales thread.
Going back to the Media Create threads is probably the best for you.
No, the Japanese sales data was just one example, also i don't see how many copies sold of any PS5 games in OP?

Considering TLOU2, Ghost of Tsushima and Spider
It's really sad when people bring PS4 games sales to defend PS5 games sales lmao

You just ignored a huge chunk of my point I isoRhythm lol

No offense, but I don't think you guys really understand the tech aspect or the business aspect.

It's not like these companies haven't experienced this same transition through a ton of generations and are just dummies and forum gamers are really the one's that understand.

Just think about the fact that a game "from scratch" nowadays, a large AAA game, takes more than half a decade to make. So the vast majority of games are just building on the tech of the previous game; that's also why the vast majority of games are sequels, because they can even borrow assets. So even if you think that 10's of millions of dollars lost (what losing just ~170k or so game sales represents) is "trivial" (it isn't), it's not really that POSSIBLE to make a true "next gen game" that quickly anyways.
I see your point now, if they started already creating it for PS4 hardware might as well finish it.

People buying the new consoles now are the most hardcore gamers, that explains how Hitman 3 can sell more on PS5 for a much smaller user base. Other companies should take note and drop last gen support for future games.

A console selling because of FOMO and scalpers will never sell more than a popular console with a lot of high quality exclusive games like Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Animal crossing and many others. what game you can only play on PS5? Demon souls Demake?! lmao

Why are we comparing the Switch which is in its third year to the PS5 that is in its third month?

We don't know lifetime sales yet.

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Sony will rack up sales they are working up against Xbox and switch right now they’ve been able to get consoles into the UK retail spaces.

Anything regarding PS5 is like dropping a chunk of meat in shark infested waters.

People are whipped up in a frenzy and buy up everything. It's no wonder PlayStation and Xbox won't go full next gen exclusive just yet.

That 120+ million user base is hungry.

*90% of PS5 consoles are sold to scalpers
*PS5 games all bombed because scalpers don't buy games
*Sony: BIGGEST LANUCH EVER!
*Sonyfans: BEST CONSOLE BEAST EVER!
You guys know that this is all PR talk right?

Guys, stop having a tantrum and provide me with sales data that PS5 games are selling great anywhere, i will wait.

I'm actually impressed with how much the scalpers seem to love Hitman 3. Maybe they feel like they can relate to him in some ways so they're all playing that game while waiting for a buyer for their PS5.

I can't help but wonder how much better games sales would be if those of us who aren't so net savvy, nor want to jump through a bunch of hoops, could actually get our hands on a PS5 by just walking into a store and picking one up. I worry that if I order one online somewhere (slim chance of that happening due to bots and my lack of time and savvy), it will be delivered by Ace Ventura, or one of those people who pretend to deliver it but keep it for themselves.

I DO understand the high demand, component supply constraints, scalpers and COVID limiting supply and accessibility, but still, Sony would benefit from a game hoarder like me buying lots of games once I get a PS5. High or low game sales numbers are fairly meaningless when there are MILLIONS of people unable to acquire the hardware in which to play said games. Take any poorly selling PS5 game for example....just because there are ~10 million PS5's in gamer's hands, doesn't mean all 10mil will buy that game. Maybe it's just many of the people who have been lucky enough to get one just aren't interested in that game, and many of the millions who can't get a PS5 would have bought it.

Yes the PS5 is selling because of FOMO and scalpers. Not because it's a popular brand since the PS1. Not at all.

According to VGChartz, Sony have sold 4.2 million PS5s so far.

Let's assume that scalpers claimed 250,000 of these machines with their bots. That means that scalpers only account for 5% of the total sales volume. In the grand scheme of things, that's bugger all.

And that 250,000 is a number I've pulled out of my butt just to illustrate. It's likely under 50,000 in real life, meaning they only account for 1% of the console sales (or 1.19% if you want to be really fucking anal about it).

There's enough salt in this post to season my dinner. You have my thanks.
What are you talking about lol

The Switch was in exactly the same situation. Scalped to oblivion.

It's better you don't participate in this thread if it triggers you so much.

IMO Gamepass has a lot to do with the low sales of Xbox version of the games.

Bound to have a big effect on Xbox, where the attach ratio is already sub average. PC and mobile is really where MS hopes their large investments will pay off, but it’s easier said than done. In retrospect MS fucked up big time on the PC side, because the Windows store should’ve been the Google Play store equivalent, but now the hopes lie on Gamepass.

Good deflection as always sonybro.

I know you are shook right now and can't understand my simple question so i will repeat it again,

10.000? 20.000? a million? give me a number.
The actual number doesn't really matter in this context. The PS5 version of the game accounts for roughly half of all copies sold.

Not every owner of a console will buy any given game. And not every game is guaranteed to be successful. Otherwise, I could quite easily ask why BoTW or SM: Odyssey haven't sold 60 million copies each.

In this instance looking at relative proportions is a fine metric.

stop feeding the troll.
All the information is already in the OP.
He already ignored the ones below.

Some new PS5 consoles were released in the market last week, which had a positive impact on a few titles. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is up 142%, jumping from No.12 to No.5, Demon's Souls re-enters the charts at No.35 with a 166% sales increase, and there were sales bumps for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (up 56% and driven by the PlayStation version) and Assassin's Creed Valhalla (up 7%, but with the PS5 version up 174%). In total, PS5 game sales increased 279% week-on-week.

The above will be the occurrence as more stocks will be available.
PS5 has limited software titles and games like Spider-man, Demon Souls and other major 3rd party games will sell slowly from PS5. As the install base grow bigger more people will buy games.

Phone reception is more important to me than human rights
Literally the topic of this thread is a game selling the majority of its copies on hardware that most people still cant buy...
I can't even.... Like seriously, are some ppl literally not reading the OP?

Company gets more stock available for a console that has huuuuge demand, game sales skyrocket.

Hot take: game sales are terrible..

?

What in thee world....

The Switch was in exactly the same situation. Scalped to oblivion.

Thank you.

It's just that right now Nintendo already dealt with their supply/demand, scalped to hell situation.

I couldn't get a Switch all year, the regular one. Once the holidays hit, stock was readily available.

Everyone is thirsty for these new consoles. I wonder when the drought will be over.

The crazy poster with the anime avatar probably forgot about the Ps4 and its first half year or so. The console was very hard to find and scalpers bought huge part of the stock. But once the console became more available, the console and game sales sky rocketed.

Same will happen to the Ps5. I mean, look at the OP.
