Here is my review for the first two months without owning a PS5: it sucks! (cant play demons souls and wont be playing Miles till i own a 5. So sadly still going strong on my ps4pro. I could have bought a series x a while ago and series s are widely available but opted to wait out (i am sorry now cus i just want new high end stuff to play with). Any word on VRR on PS5 and when it's coming? Any PS5 DIE shot's to be confused about yet? This tread is slowing down...

Yes, owning PS5 is wonderful, don't listen to the drama. BC is good as well but we should forget about it in a year or so when there are plenty of games.

Well I think it's kind of silly to assume the PS5 doesn't have any cache within the GPU. Sony left some stuff out and while I wouldn't classify as "magical rainbow unicorn features" it would provide an insight on how the system actually works.
Cerny already confirmed the GPU has cache scrubbers additional to normal GPU cache.

It is that blue rectangle on GPU diagran.

I was obviously talking about the information like the amount of cache for example. GPU needs cache so the CUs have immediate access to the information they need. It's why the cache Scrubbers help the GPU out since it doesn't need to constantly flush the entire cache to get what it needs.

That SRAM and how much Cache the PS5 has, is still a mystery to this day.

That SRAM and how much Cache the PS5 has, is still a mystery to this day.
On-chip RAM is for the IO complex.

Inside the APU there is RAM for the IO co-processors... he says it is a large.

"There's two dedicated I/O coprocessors in a large RAM pool these are tins in 2 cores there are there principally to direct the variety of custom hardware around them."

TLOU2 Multi probably (can't wait for this one btw), it's still way too early to start teasing their next game imo
Uncharted 4 shipped in May 2016. In December 2016, only 7 months later, Naughty Dog announced both Uncharted The Lost Legacy AND The Last of Us Part II.

The Last of Us shipped in June 2013 and 5 months later Uncharted 4 was announced in November 2013.

Uncharted 3 shipped in November 2011 and 1 month later in December 2011 Naughty Dog announced The Last of Us.

This is now the longest period of time in the last 10 years Naughty Dog have gone without announcing a new game.

I was obviously talking about the information like the amount of cache for example. GPU needs cache so the CUs have immediate access to the information they need. It's why the cache Scrubbers help the GPU out since it doesn't need to constantly flush the entire cache to get what it needs.
I rewatched the video.
I'm now bit confuse if the cache scrubbers are different caches or just customizations to actual GPU cache.

He says that:

"So we've implemented a gentler way of doing things where the coherency engines inform the GPU of the overwritten address ranges and custom scrubbers in several dozen GPU caches do pinpoint evictions of just those address ranges."

Seems like they added that "scrubbers" to the GPU caches? it is not additional cache but some custom unit/silicon in the GPU caches... seems like a new feature to the GPU caches?

From what I understand they basically reduce the impact that a cache miss has on the GPUs performance. With a traditional GPU like the one in the PS4 when a cache miss happens the entire GPU cache gets dumped. Only getting rid of part of the data means the GPU doesn't have to suffer by dumping all of it.

It's kind of like a tool belt. Everything that I need should be on the belt. But if there's something I don't have I have to get the tool from the tool box. However other tools on my belt will be used again so it doesn't make sense to get rid of the entire belt.

How the cache Scrubbers achieve this and what they are I'm not sure.

The way I see this is that Cerny knew how cache misses can affect a GPUs performance. One way around this is to reduce the rate at which a cache miss occurs. Cerny could have used an increased cache size similar to AMDs Infinity Cache. But since that really isn't possible with their die size they made the decision to reduce performance impact of the cache misses.

I heard your import tariffs suck. Going to be terrible for anyone wanting those goods in the future.

It`s worst than that.

It`s not like we had a huge electronics industries... Almost every component, sometimes even the plastics are imported and then just assebled and packaged here.

It`s all done in the Manaus duty free zone located in the middle of the amazon rainforest that allows those tv manufactories to import everything and then just assemble there and get the seal "made in brazil".

As you can imagine logistics is a Nighmare. The bigger consumer markets for eletronics usually are 3k+ km from Manaus, and there`s no easy way to transport those electronics. Depending on the value of the cargo, it has to be transported by airplane only with armed security or it`s get robbed on its way....

And yet, it`s cheaper to do this than to direct import, since our import tax sucks.

TLOU2 multi is already confirmed and they're already working on it, when it comes to their next game nobody knows but yeah i also think would be cool if it's new IP. I'm not really interested about a TLOU3 and new Uncharted why not if there is some overhaul and take some inspirations for TR Reboot franchise.

I suspect we get TLOU multiplayer then a new IP. Both are probably gonna be developed by somewhat different teams because a smaller team has been doing the MP for a while, while most of the studio will go on to make the new game.

Heck just this week 2 senior staff an artist and sound designer went from naught dog to insomniac. Clearly something is wrong with the management of naught dog if they have to hire that many people because old ones keep quitting.

TLOU2 was a fantastic game.

Did it include a bit too much of an infusion of far left-leaning US identity politics? Sure. Were they a bit hamfisted? Of course. But did it ruin or even bring down the experience as a whole? Not at all.

It was a little cringy at best. But the overall story, characters, animation, graphics and gameplay was sublime. It tried something bold and succeeded.

It wasn't a Rian Johnson, "subvert the audience's expectations by shitting everything up" example that far too many (a vocal minority still) online try to make it out to be. It really did subvert expectations, with big bold moves that forced the player to consider more than just the motivations of the series's historical protagonists. It was a perfect follow-up to the original's ending that it's had player's divided on whether they agreed or disagreed with Joel's choices.

It was both an excellent game to play and an excellent piece of videogame storytelling.

That's fairly common in many industries. I get the monthly personnel change emails from HR and in my medium sized tech company it's not uncommon for us to have anywhere from 5-10 leavers and new hires during the month. Some go work for competitors, others switch industries. These days people rarely dedicate their entire lives and careers to one company. Career ceilings, better opportunities for advancement, fatigue and a million other reasons can cause someone to want to seek work elsewhere. Sales and development have had the most drastic changes since I've been here. Aside from a few higher ups almost everyone moves on after 2-3 years and trust me it's not because of any toxic work culture.

Jason Schrier said that 14 out of the 20 lead designers left naughty dog during the dev on TLOU2 and it ended up selling 4 million in 3 days and is by far the biggest GOTY winner of the year. It means nothing.

People leave companies all the time. Especially in LA. A lot of these companies are literally in the same Santa Monica area right outside LA and they all poach talent from each other all the time. I believe Respawn, Infinity Ward, Sony Santa Monica, Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog are all located within a dozen miles of each other.

Oh and Hollywood is in LA too. I remember Jason Rubin at a GDC conference talking about how he built ND into an AAA studio and he said he basically went after hollywood artists who would typically end up at CGi studios.
