Marvel Studios presents “WandaVision,” a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) – two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives – begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. The new series is directed by Matt Shakman; Jac Schaeffer is head writer.

Begins Friday January 15th on Disney+. Nine episodes.

I love it, and have no idea why. I never cared about Marvel stuff as a kid, really. Had a few comics but didn't know anyone outside of the big ones that escaped the nerd zeitgeist.

I think the 'realistic' take with the original Iron Man really caught my attention, as it wasn't a bunch of dewds running around in spandex (that'd come later). I actually soured on the MCU pretty quick with the first Captain America movie, specifically because of how UNrealistic the Hydra soldiers were (in what was supposedly WWII). I liked the first Avengers enough, it was fun.. but I didn't really get hooked until Captain America: Winter Soldier.. from there on I couldn't get enough.. it was just a lot of fun. I enjoyed the 'serialized' take on things, where older stuff would get referenced or characters showed up or whatever, it felt like the best bits of a long running TV show combined with blockbuster budgets and effects. When they made the fucking Guardians of the Galaxy & ANT-MAN fun/engaging movies.. I was sold, I said I'd keep seeing them until I'm disappointed. So far so good, Black Panther was kinda just so-so, but it wasn't bad or anything. Endgame was just fantastic.

I have no idea how/where they go from here, and the whole Pandemic thing really made it feel like the MCU did have a proper end, so we'll see if they can keep the magic going, but they've earned my eyeballs until they shit the bed.

No idea, probably making even more shitty live action adaptions of their animated classics.

Not sure if that would be any better or worse than them adapting the Disney princess formula for a generation of man children and calling the result the MCU.

I just wish they would attempt big budget 2D animation again, or someone that isn't Disney at this point preferably

Eisner threw out all of the traditional animation desks in the early 2000s. Lasseter managed to save one or two.

If you irrationally hate them so much why do you participate in such threads. You came to this forum to defend Snyder. It is there in the introduce yourself thread. You are not much above these superhero movies, infact you love the arguably bad ones.

As much as I love Man of Steel and Batman V Superman, they really have poor characterisation in comparison to pretty much everything in the MCU. I liked the tone that the Snyderverse had, it just needed refinement, better writing. And that's what DC should have improved, it annoyed me when WB/DC tried to start aping the MCU.

This show won't be any Mulholland Drive and it doesn't need to be. I'm just happy to see Wanda and Vision get more screen time so they can get fleshed out more.
I can't wait to see the mysteries unfold surrounding that pocket reality/universe that has been created. Who created it and why? And how does it tie into Doctor Strange 2, Spidey 3 and Loki? That's one of the best things about the MCU that no one else can replicate (Star Wars might with it's new direction under KK), it's interconnected story telling. And now that there is this whole other media to tell stories in, it's even more exciting.

I think it’s tone is inspired by Tom King’s Vision run, Wanda creates the pocket universe/breaks the multiverse by being influenced by Agatha Harkniss/Nightmare (maybe even Mephisto?) and that’s how it ties into Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange 2 and why Wanda is in Doctor Strange 2.

So this is a limited series right? I mean, she is going to be in the next Dr. Strange, so "WandaVision" has to end with one season right?

Now that I am thinking about it. All of the marvel shows seem like they might be "Limited Series" save for moon knight, she hulk, and other lower tier shows.

Yes. Most of the Marvel shows are limited series. What If...? will have multiple seasons, and Loki might be in two parts.

If they can come up with a story, I'm sure there will be multiple seasons of a show. But it also depends what happens in the movies. If Vision isn't literally brought back to life at any point it wouldn't make sense to have a season 2 of Wandavision.

I can't even think of what a season 2 would be like at the moment. I am personally rooting for her to move on and become Doctor Strange's apprentice.

If they hadn’t bought Marvel and Pixar they’d be owned by Comcast. Star Wars is a bonus.

If you want to know what they would be making aside from their great animation just look at every live action film they’ve made on D+ along with running the Pirates of the Caribbean into a cliff. I did like John Carter though but everything else Disney actually makes is pretty much great for D+ but not the box office.

That would mostly be at the end of the series. The beginning is basically a homage to different eras of sitcoms with Wanda making her own reality with Vision being alive.

Multiverse fun would mostly be in SM3 and Doctor Strange 2!

It's basically 2 recaps of Wanda and Vision for those who either forget or haven't seen the previous films.
Pretty cool little clips.

What's the rating on this? I heard it is pretty violent. My 8 year old loves Vision so he'll probably want to watch it. I'm assuming it will fall in line with the rest of the MCU/Mando level which is fine for him.

Not that I'd be against a hard R MCU film full of boobs and gore....

Releases on Friday. Rated PG for the first few episodes, will go max to max PG-13 for action-heavy ones later down the line. The first few are apparently low in action.

I read that this show has some of the biggest set pieces the MCU has ever seen. I don't remember what publication it was or who the interview was with. If true though, shows that they are hiding alot in the trailers.

If it's true that episode 1-3 are basically the sitcom episodes then they should release the first 3 on friday itself.
