Normally I wouldn't chime, but why the hell are we complaining and trolling (cause that basically the level its at) over packaging that you're either gonna throw away or bury in your closet anyways. Are we really that desperate now, or just ignorant at this point? This is like next level console war trash lol come on.

Now on the part of first impressions, i'm super happy to hear that the controller is holding up to the marketing. Here's hoping for a hands on at work over the weekend since i'm sure we have them by now and kiosk. Looking forwards to the other embargos to lift, really looking forward to the gritty details.

My god that's not what I'm saying. This shouldn't have an influence on your buying intentions at all.

So if it's a white box, no visuals, it just says PS5 in comic sans on it, and inside the power cable is unwind basically just thrown in, console also just lays in there and the controller is wrapped in newspaper. This is also fine? We'll just pretend that packaging doesn't matter anymore.
Congrats on the pettiest shitposting attempt!

You know, you could have just said

“...oh yeah. Maybe Sony are keeping the packaging simple for environmental reasons. That’s a good point”

...and avoided all of this.

Premium packaging is usually just annoying and harder to recycle.

That said I think Microsoft uses the foam that is biodegradable. You can stick it in the sink and it melts away.

In the end.. companies do things for environmental reasons because it's cheaper lol, they then advertise it as being for environmental reasons. Meanwhile they fight to make sure their factories can use chemicals that are bad (because those chemicals are cheaper than others.) These companies are not our friends, or the environments.

(but less is more with packaging, as it IS more environmentally friendly)

Remember talking about the XSX overheating and I had said it may be people putting them into tight and or enclosed spaces and not allowed to breathe?

Then some people here laughed saying no no these people know how and where to store these consoles?

Sony went with a foolproof design aproach. If it fits, its fine.

You can`t really block the air vents dure to those protunding faceplates design.

I don't care about the way PS5 is packed as long as it is secured. After seeing some unboxing my only concern is the way DualSens is packed - it is not hold by anything so it can move inside its box....

Something a 14-year old would say

Don't worry give it a couple more years and your eyes will mature enough to be able to discern true beauty like us men

Till then enjoy a box
In the interest of fair play, for those of us who only occasionally brave this thread, the poster you're talking about isn't the only one talking like a 14-year old in here.

That's not how the PS5 is packaged though. Your acting like the packaging isn't sufficient to ensure a safe transportation of the device. That's the most important aspect of packaging.

It's secured by the box, you have to open two "covers" (sorry don't know what to call it) to see the controller, cable, console, etc.

The DualSense looks like it's in a confined space plus it has the cover of the box that sits right on top of it. I wouldn't really worry about it bouncing around and getting damaged.

Sucks for the ten pWe already had thermal tests for Series X. The temps were fine.

As if we have proof of what you want.

No one has done a test during a summer, with dust inside , at a next gen charge And with thermal paste with 2 years of age.

My PC gamer sense tells me, run away from it as fast as you can.

I have seen some truly idiotic takes but criticizing an environmental friendly minimal paper packaging is a new level of stupid. Considering its something you open once and toss away. There's being a fanboy and then there is being a total fool.

I'm thinking about creating a thread where people can discuss whether or not their PS5s arrived in good condition. It would be a good way to point out the flaws in the packaging and to make people less nervous about it if there's really no issue.

But what if you’re bored of your console shortly after launch and want to put it back in the box and in storage somewhere? Or sell it for a loss to get some cash in to buy something else?

Seems to me MS considers this use case highly likely, and made reusable packaging a high priority.

Good on them - very consumer friendly.

I would just store it in a pelican case.

Let's be real though.. if Sony had premium packaging and XBox's was minimal this forum would be full of memes praising Sony and making fun of MS. (and MS fanboys would be praising the minimal design lol)

This entire forum for the most part needs to take a fanboy vaccine.

Well, that wouldn’t be me. I’d have rinsed Sony for that, simply because there’s no need for expensive, environmentally unfriendly packaging. It’s bloody stupid in 2020.

Is it me or has this month seemed to have gone really fast? Only 14/16/23 days left :messenger_weary:
Fucking UK/EU getting the shit end of the stick again releasing after US/other places :messenger_angry::messenger_face_steam: Thanks, Sony.
Think of the positive side.
Americans will beta test the system and games for us. They will encounter the bugs, report them and find workarounds so we can game without worries.

Honestly my biggest concern is the transportation of the device. As long as the packaging accomplishes thst well that's all thst matters to me.

However I would be against insanely expensive packaging though. Just imagine how much console would cost if it came in a fancy suitcase and wrapped in good leaf.
