Emotions are what make us human. It is the best thing in the world and make life worth living.

I felt happy watching this video. Happy is an emotion. You know this (I hope).

That is fair, I'd be lying if I said I have never gotten emotional playing a video game.

I do not become emotional watching teardown videos of consoles, but maybe that is an issue for me to deal with. I personally feel like you are a little too attached to a console if you become emotional watching the shared video, but maybe that is a completely normal emotion to gain from the video and I am just a jaded asshole.

Ignore my comment man, I hope watching the video brings you a ton of happiness because it is hard to come by these days.

The dust collector is a super cool feature. You can just remove the sideplates from time to time, use a vaccum to get the dust out and the system is in perfect condition again. Great move! Also, the standard M2.SSD Slot is MUCH MUCH more consumer friendly then the MS Solution with their proprietary memory card shit.

Sony really made all their homework with the system design. Really looking forward to getting my own PS5!

My only gripe for the first generation PS5 is the mandatory stand needed for horizontal use. I can’t believe they went that route.

I’ll still get one in 2021 once they become available easier, but I hate the thought of that stand.
I think the stand will help with cooling. PS4 has such small feet that it traps heat beneath itself.

There's still the change that this is just a joke that went too far!
Don't be fooled yet!

Anyway, they really went with Liquid Metal.

Those are normal cross screws, and they are below the black flaps. Look nothing like the bolt in the preview unit, which was inside/above the flaps too.

I think it was just an extra bolt to keep the chassis together, possibly because a lot of other regular screws in the consumer version were not being used in order to open and close the console faster.

EDIT: maybe it's the angle though, it could be holding the same thing as the screws.

Point is, the bolt is not there in the retail unit.

Never underestimate the general public's ability to latch onto a single buzzword or phrase and shape their entire buying habits because of it.

I just don’t see the general public being as excited about this as you are tbh... You say it will move a couple of million consoles alone, and that’s crazy to me - there won’t be a single person who buys a PS5 because of this IMO. Not one. Absolutely not a big deal.

Read my tears about xbox here --->
Well that explains the size of the console.

The heatsink is ridiculous big and that's just about the thickest 120mm fan I've ever seen.

The large nvme expansion slot is good to see though. There are even screw holes to accommodate all lengths of drives that are available.
The fan goes trought the whole console and connects to the other side lol.

No the cap has been removed to show you.

Wish I had your sense of humour, which consoles have dust collectors for air flow and why is it funny to you ?
Thre is this thing called "a mesh" which I've had in my pc cases for 10 years. You slide it out, colelct the dust and it's done. Having to take the ps5 from the shelf, remove the plastic cover (the clips will break sooner or later) and vacuum some holes? That ain't collecting shit

Custom side panels anyone????
Sony just saved themselves a fortune long term not having to create custom SKU's and anticipating how many of each they will have to manufacture! Now they can upsell anything they want and the customers will be delighted. Win Win for everyone! It's genius! Something cracks, chips etc.. buy a new one? Looking to resell? pop a new panel on and bobs your uncle, new looking machine :)

So will the custom SSD controller still work the same for expansion bay m.2 drives? I can see performance comparison vids in the future testing speed diff.

much much much more consumer friendly for whom? For hardcore gamers on gaming forums maybe, for 99% of the player base who have ZERO idea what even an m2.ssd is, maybe not. It’s just way easier to get an Xbox memory card in store and plug it in.
with PS5 you have to make sure to get the correct one, no one even knows now which one is supported, and the open the console etc. that’s not easy for most people.
For us it’s of course easy, but most other people? No.

Nice. Liquid metal use is interesting. The video itself is cool too.

Also, white side panels are completely replaceable, so you'll probably have a range of official side panel colors sold separately to choose from eventually.

It's same screw. One on back to be precise. That bigger part is plastic tab used to position fan. You can see it on video. Similar tab is around NVMe bay. And it don't look like standard cross screw. It's torx or hex. Hard to judge from that pictures.

Likely just a retaining bolt to stop the sides being slid off in the test units. I bet store Kiosks will have the same.

they even use liquid metal. this should be good

also the heatsink and 120mm fans take almost half of the console size. i guess that is one of part that gonna get resize down for slim version

Speaking from a marketing and communications perspective, this presentation of this teardown is absolutely perfect.

A calm Japanese man in a smart shirt (all screams 'expert!'), sitting in a clean room, slowly and confidently showing us every important aspect of the Playstation's construction.

No screaming YouTubers. No idiotic, paid off influencers. No need to overplay or exaggerate. Just a straight forward presentation that shows everyone just how well designed the inside of the console is.

And 'liquid metal cooling' will sell an extra few million consoles. Mark "Cerny" my fucking words.
