Liquid metal confirmed. Kudos to Sony to take a brave step.
Doesn't look like there's a way to upgrade the SSD.
This isn't a standard SSD port meaning IF this is the place to upgrade the HDD it'd be a proprietary drive like the XSX:
That's being used as thermal paste, yes.
Secret Sauce™
Looks like a standard M2 2280 sized port to me, I have a few populated on my PC.Doesn't look like there's a way to upgrade the SSD.

This bad boy was designed to stand vertically.
not liquid cooling .....just massive heatsink
He specifically says it has been designed for quietness. Cerny has said this too. So have the Youtubers who went hands onIts a massive heatsink but its not liquid or a vapour chamber................sorry folks i think we are in for a jet engine again
I guess you haven’t seen an nvme drive beforeDoesn't look like there's a way to upgrade the SSD.

Is that sponge there to keep it from seeping out and shorting other components?
Beast of a heatsink with that style of fan with liquid metal thermal paste is going to get rid of the jet engine life. Now I can't crack jokes about taking off
All I saw was a cake filled with lots of tiny cakes...
Nice see the expasion ssd slot, now just need drives to use.
2TB will be almost the cost of a PS5 Digital. Wait for prices to come down in a year or so and just deal with the 665GB:

Do we know how to upgrade the SSD yet?Oh who gives a fuck, i vastly prefer the dead pan serious demise of the jap guy instead of a loud annoying youtuber with a fucking retarded open mouth expression in the thumbnail.
you are gonna have your "trusted" inside look from "trusted" youtubers when sony is gonna send ps5 to these people.
The weird thing is that, current PC implementation does not last as long, however is vastly better. Hopefully they have different mixture of the liquid metal, so it last the whole life-span of the console. It's better than the traditional thermal paste. Should last longer too.
This looks like completely standard NVMe slot.Doesn't look like there's a way to upgrade the SSD.

Specially those dual fan theorist. One fan is better anyway. This should shut everyone up.
It won’t.
But it should.
Is that sponge there to keep it from seeping out and shorting other components?
hahahaha at the fact that it requires plastic piece of shit with special screw to keep it either horizontal or vertical. What a joke.
And "dust catchers" hahahaha oh wow. They expect me to take the cover off and vacuum the holes? WEll better than nothing for sure.
Very nice of them to post this though

I don't think it is clear at all what that is.Your joking right?
My sarcasm detector is off today.
If not thats a standard PCIE NVME drive slot. Those holes are to lineup the size of the drive to secure it. NVME are different length's depending on type, and brand.
I don't speak japanese but I am pretty sure he said vapor chamber. Its a massive heatsink but its not liquid or a vapour chamber................sorry folks i think we are in for a jet engine again
Who, to you? I'm sure they give a shit what you think! At least give the thread 10 minutes before FUD patrol!Doesn't exude confidence to so tightly control everything.
I'll just wait for my trusted friends at DF to do a true teardown.Who, to you? I'm sure they give a shit what you think! At least give the thread 10 minutes before FUD patrol!
Turns out the Japanese have a lot of words for vapor chamber...I don't speak japanese but I am pretty sure he said vapor chamber.
Isn’t liquid metal liquid cooling?
It's so nicely built

Standard PCIe 4 port.Do we know how to upgrade the SSD yet?
