In the above podcast, Jez Corden who has an XsX, says heat dissipation/temperature is in-line with the Xbox One X, even tests it.

It's totally normal for an SSD to be hot in standby mode if it's still working. We don't know what it was doing, was it installing updates? Did it have smart delivery games queued? What about Quick Resume? These two isolated reports from unprofessional sources tell us absolutely nothing

Jez would know all about overheating consoles, since he helped spread the FUD about the PS5 overheating.
I don't think it'll be an issue though, but I wouldn't trust a shill like him.

are we sure they are not talking sexually hot

That's culture bitting your ass for you :D

i'm french and basically here the worry is that they can't test the console with next gen games to see how it behaves.
it's hot doing bc stuff.

In a few weeks time everyone will have a thermometer testing the heat of these consoles (PS5, XSX, XSS)

All speculation as of now and the article itself doesn't say a thing.

Do you idiots know that all the electricity you supply to your console gets converted to thermal energy ? 😂

This is why it's called "Energy management".

Overheating means system is unstable. Switches off, lags, these kind of things. Running hot means series x is power hungry, knowing that both consoles use the same architecture.

PS5 overheating rumor was believable because we had not seen the hardware. This FUD is trash.

So far there was

1) A tweet from someone with a picture of an overheat warning claiming it was from their Xsex after 2 hours of use.

b3ULdW1.jpg

2) Giant bomb said the SSD was “super hot” and that the “whole unit is a little toasty”

3) A french Twitch vid saying theirs was “hot” - “it’s violent”

True or false? Who knows? - until we get the retail units it’s impossible to say... 5 weeks or so and counting.
I am french and often watch lestream (which provided the video about series X being hot) and they are well known for talking and saying things the displease publisers or brand.

One of their member got temporary blacklisted by Playstation for saying that Tetris psvr was "shitty".And they don't cry about it, they joke about it.
It is mostly like a news/talkshow about gaming news and aimed at the 18-35 years old.I think most of them tell their honest opinions about everything when things are bad they say it and when they are good they will say it too.The two people talking about it are Ken bogard (commentator of fighting games and afficionados of Nintendo) and I don't remember the name of the other guy but admitted preferring Xbox, even though he is not a fanboy and is capable of criticizing the brand....Like we should all be capable of.

I'm sorry, I don't trust a random guys translation of a french video. Words often get mistranslated, especially if they are done directly without taking context into consideration. All consoles get hot under certain conditions and the whole "legit concern" thing seems.. well, not legit.

Until we have proper measurements this is a non issue. Who the hell bases their judgement on random people on the internet using words such as "toasty" and weird translations as "VIOLENT"?
If you want I am french and even better familiar with the people in the video since I follow lestream on Twitch and youtube.I can translate again if you want.

So this backs up the mass production starting in May reports. You can see the 'PROTOTYPE' console on the right is the same as the retail console on the left bar the sticker. Most of these consoles I guess would go to MS employees to test, sent to developers to use and the recent influencers/YouTubers as we've seen. I guess the big publications like Famitsu, DF, GameSpot etc get the latest made retail consoles.

I seriously doubt it took them 4 months to build up production to be retail ready though, because it doesn't sound very efficient.

They better have 2 million units ready for launch day.
1.5m Series X and 500k Series S

End of December 2020 that number should've grown to
3m Series X and 2 million Series S

spec thread? Or Xbox bash thread? Not sure.

Interesting all cries of "fud" or "shill" for any negative Ps5 news. But when its related to Xbox its "concerning".

Don't throw stones if you live in a glasshouse. Every time you trash something on Xbox, it ends up on ps too. "We believe in generations". 😉

There is a difference to people making up rumours and people with a SX saying its violently hot. A big difference.

Just because you haven't seen a console means its instantly believable? When the rumour came from Xbox guys?

I don't think there's a problem with the Series X overheating, personally.
But I haven't seen any next gen games running on it... So by your logic of not seeing something making it believable, I am going to think it can't play them/doesn't have any.
And that's how FUD starts.

Not a difference. People run with what fits their agenda or what they want to hear.

Perfect example just a few posts back someone posting a Serrano tweet. That guy has been wrong so many times on preorder dates and events that it ain't even funny anymore.

But since he just tweeted something that you like, he's all of a sudden credible.

You obviously have not been part of these forums for very long.

did you see the ps5 fud list, i think not as it makes your point sound really silly.

Besides people having concerns about the xbox getting Super heat is from actua sources, people that have played on the console and 100% experience it. I understand you don't like what your hearing but its a discussion point not a criticism faced at the fanboy wars.

Running hot or not, that will have to be proved or disproved at some point.

But the fact that people shelling out $499 on a console try to downplay this just because it might put it in a bad light is somewhat baffling.

I don't think anyone should be sharing tweets from attention seekers like Serrano, Tidus or dumb fucks like the Blue guy, even if it's just to laugh at them, it gives them the attention they want.

That guy got called out, we all know serrano is a fake, go back and check. Again, we are talking about rumours of the ps5 having heat problems, among many others, to actual people with SXs saying the console is very hot.
I honestly don't think its anything to worry about, consoles generally run hot, its once they auto shutdown that you have problems.

What are you up to, this is a worrying sign when the big boss shows himself suddenly like this.

Are you a Liverpool supporter, have you come to apologize for that mess you guys had inflicted on you the other night.

As a man utd supporter, everything is rosy in our camp. "lollipop_disappointed:

You know, I gotta say this, and only this once; what's up with this Man Utd, Liverpool that, when there are teams like Milan, Napoli, Juventus, Lazio? My friend, you need to educate yourself 🤣

If you think I am derailing this (and I am, sorry for that!), we can take this up in private. Now let's go back to our daily does of FUD... err... speculations.

Nope. I'm still waiting for that update before my purchase. Tv is on sale right now too for under 1k for the 65"

Thanks, mate! Yeah I'm following the news about that firmware, and it seems to be a matter of Android 11 not releasing on time. But that price is pretty cheap! It's still at around 549 OMR ($1427 USD) for 65" as it arrived just last month or so! I'll be waiting on it to reach that price tag before getting one, probably around Black Friday or early 2021.

A 12 teraflop system gets hot, a certain segment of forum users become concerned. What a shocker. You can tell those who has never taken temps on a GPU running Red Dead Redemption 2 or have experience with SSDs before acting like they know all about them. The Series X will be fine, just like the PS5 will be fine even though they refuse to let anyone touch the damn thing six weeks from launch.

Depends how hot his X1X was. My friend's X1X was pretty hot, but surely not loud like PS4. I don't think so in stand-by mode SSD should be hot. USB stick during downloading i stand-by mode isn't hot, but during playing games or downloading when console is on, USB connector can be hot. Anyway, 3 sources said at least that console is hot in stand-by mode. I thought, you'll provide more sources since you said "others". Well, Jez is Jez.

Games that run a locked 60 FPS usually runs a higher FPS 'behind the scenes'.
It could but it doesn't (it can't render more frames and not show them, can it? Pretty impractical). Therefore the bc mode does not fully exploit the full potential of the gpu and remains to be seen what a full flight series x game does with the heat of the hardware.

No, the difference is at least three persons have commented on heat issues......Now consoles do get hot to the touch, but not violent hot....It only means that the heat is not being expelled properly from the mainboard. That could be a worrying sign because if not dealt with properly, you will have the units shutting down automatically. like the "console is hutting down due to heat message" or it will just damage the silicon and MB overtime, leading to an RROD like situation...

Now I hope this is not the case and these early units are just not up to snuff, but you can't gloss over this either. You should just hope it's not a big issue, don't just sweep it under the rug.....RROD was swept under the rug initially too.....If there is an issue best to admit it, address it and take care of it now....

No, not really. PS5 had people who never saw a unit, who were avid XBOX fans with XBOX Youtube channels forwarding that PS5 had heating issues. Would you believe them? As opposed.....MS sent XBOX's to a number of influencers, I guess most of them are not opposed to XBOX, so they are not blacklisted. They were given units to test BC for now, but doing that, they realize the entire system including the attached SSD gets really hot. It's more than one person saying that too. It could be rectified on retail units or not. Yet they have shared this and we all know the people MS sent the units would not be lying about that or fabricating, it's their experience so far.....

It's fine if you want to sweep it under the rug, but usually ignoring things and hoping for the best case scenario is never a good thing in business, it's how RROD got out of hand because of people deflecting early reports. Any issue where the whole console seems like a hot plate should be addressed now and should be nipped in the bud now......I can only hope that MS was aware of the situation before-hand and have since resolved it with their retail units...

Three sources? Giantbomb Jeff who picked up an NVME SSD by the heatsink and a guy from LeStream. Who's the third?

Even if you give me three, out of hundreds, it's irrelevant unless we know the conditions. If it's on standby yet still doing something, then the situation is perfectly normal and shows the thermal paste and cooling system are doing their job.

Again, the only "concern" here is coming from people who will never own the console. It's FUD, pure and simple.

Why are people saying the XSX has heating issues? The console exhausts hot air and the external NVme gets warm. Both are fully expected of the console are they not? The Xbox One X certainly outputs hot air, because that is what the cooling system is designed to do.

What matters is how hot the SOC gets and how well the console operates at that temperature. My 2080ti outputs a high amount of heat while under load, but the GPU itself remains in normal operating temperatures. So does my NVMe, the thing gets hot to the touch but that does not impact its performance.

I would only declare the XSX having heating issues if units start crashing or stop functioning due to the system actually overheating. If it remains quite and outputs hot air and the system is fully stable, then that is not the console having heating issues, that is the console working as intended.

SSDs are hot, and anything more than 45°C feels "super hot". So I call it incosequential.
Agreed, they are hot INSIDE a cabinet because they are PC INNER parts. That card is external, how do you think people are supposed to remove it from the slot if they can get burnt? Like I previously said, so much for being able to change it with the system on.
