Naughty Dog is hiring for many different roles. Seem’s like they are working on their next big project. We already heard rumours they’ve been working on a new IP. Uncharted 4 really was one of the most stunning and beautiful games of the past decade, done on the limitations of the PS4 hardware, it’s crazy how they pulled that off. More curious as to what the next generation Uncharted game will look like!

Xbox Live Gold used to be able to purchased for $60 for 1 year, $25 for 3 months (effectively $100/year), or $10 for 1 month (effectively $120/year). PS Plus uses this pricing too. But now Xbox Live can only be bought for 3 months or 1 month.

They got rid of the year option, raising the minimum annual cost from $60 to $100, but really $120 for many who will just sub monthly for $10. So it’s basically twice as expensive as PS Plus now.

So yeah when Microsoft quietly says “fuck you pay us double“ everyone hears “it’ll be free soon” ... and I don’t get it.

They've been doing too much "pro consumer" moves lately so they need to compensate, I guess.:lollipop_smirking:

PS5 Sales Expected to ‘Significantly Outperform’ Xbox Series X, Says DFC Intelligence

In recent months it has become clear that Sony and Microsoft are pursuing two very different strategies in the video game industry. The likely result is that the upcoming Sony PlayStation 5 should significantly outsell the Microsoft Xbox Series X. However, Microsoft may have the long-term winning battle plan.]

The latest DFC Intelligence video game console forecasts have the PlayStation 5 outselling the Xbox Series X by a margin of 2-to-1. The PS5 looks likely to be Sony’s fourth 100 million unit selling console game system.

Microsoft is trying its best with Xbox Series X, but the past few months have revealed they are just too far behind Sony. Consumer brand preference is strongly towards PlayStation. As a piece of hardware there is nothing Xbox Series X is doing to change that perception.

Sony is also a global powerhouse in video games. Microsoft is only strong in English speaking markets. The Xbox has no presence in Japan and is weak in most of Europe. Sony’s strength in global consumer electronics distribution has been too much for Microsoft to overcome, even after 20 years of concerted effort.

In regards to Sony grabbing 3rd party exclusives that havent been revealed yet.

Taken from places of which we dare not speak but thought relevant enough.

Though not terribly sure on how good his track record is since I dont frequent there.

I wasnt sure just had that sent to me by a friend.
He had a decent track record but at the same time he is also much more pro Sony. It's like if you would say this, I would also think it's good news but not "GTA6 1 year PS5 exclusive news". Some people (not you) can exaggerate, which is normal. Not everyone thinks the same things are as important, a lot of people loved the Shenmue 3 reveal and I liked Halo Infinite so...

Sounds like several big games will be exclusive to PS5. I can already imagine the headlines...
Yeah, got me wondering what they could be.
It's going to be an interesting month (or whenever they talk about it, hopefully this month).

Many are quick to accuse Sony of money-hatting, but I wouldn't be surprised if publishers actively pursue this in order to make as many sales as they can before their titles end up on Game Pass.
People getting mad about it even though MS are doing the same with all those timed exclusives they announced, but they love that stuff.

Being pro sony (allegedly) didn't stop him from from claiming the XSX would edge out the PS5 in terms of power

The funny thing is these publishers do the math. Which makes more money? Put our game on everything, or only on PlayStation? Or just PS4 and PC? When they pick the exclusive route, clearly they’re confident they’ll make more money than selling it everywhere. Like Persona 5, Street Fighter 5, Nioh and Final Fantasy 7 remake. If the publishers thought they’d make more profit by putting those games everywhere day 1, they would. That tells us something about PS4 market share.

True most publishers of big games want to sell them at launch and not have them on something like Gamepass. Also gamepass will directly compete with alot of their games.

Gamepass is great but it's a double edged sword.

As far as this insider malarkey goes, Matt is as reliable as they come. He was a former moderator, and a former dev, who now works in gaming industry in some capacity. Doesn't talk too much generally, but when he does, you take note.

As for taking his stuff with a "pinch of salt", he more often than not delivers news which a certain contingent don't like to hear, for instance, just 3-4 days back he said, he had heard that XBL Gold is not going away after there was a lot of chatter, a day later MS rep confirmed it's not going away. For them, his tagline of "terror which flaps at night" is really appropriate. So yeah, pay attention to what he writes. More so on the software/business news.

Someone correct me if I'm misremembering... But wasn't Matt part of Sony's ICE team back in the day? Or do I have him mixed up with another former gaffer?

Matt was one of the first to sneakily hint at 10.2 tflops for the PS5 from what I remember

He said the difference in power between the two machine to be at ~15%. But, I don't want to give him too much credit for that prediction since it was so vague. With hardware stuff, I can't recall a single insider/ITK who was able to call the specs of PS5. It applies to Matt too.

However for gaming related news, he's very reliable.
