I'm really looking for some more sleeper-hit-ish games that didn't get much media coverage...

Record of Lodoss War, Power Stone 1 and 2, and Tech Romancer are all you need. All the other good games have been released elsewhere, although I would recommend Shenmue I if you have a high tolerance for boredom and can get the excellent import Shenmue 2.

NBA 2k2 (Sega Sports, great defense game)

Typing of the Dead (funnest typing game ever!)

And I'll let you know about Border Down, Psyvariar 2, and Shikigami no Shiro II if I ever get around to opening them.
