I don't care about what the leaders do. They're not our mommies and daddies, despite how they've been acting the past few months.

Yeah, but they do have control over many things that the average citizen (you) doesn't. And those things they control have an effect on the population (you). As much as people (you) would like to think they are walking breathing autonomous states it just isn't reality.

People (you) should most definitely care about what the leaders do cause it can and will have an impact on their (your) lives.

godhandiscen

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I bet you all thought this was going to stop at masks

I am designing myself a helmet. Now I get to go on the streets looking straight out of a Daft Punk music video and nobody can call me weird anymore.

Cyberpunk future, here we are.

Oh, considering I have been stuck in my house for months, while businesses I frequent close around me daily and the crime rate skyrockets, I am quite aware what these leaders have control over that I do not. That is why I hate them.

In some ways unified hate for the leaders is exactly what your country needs. Apathy has led the country to where it is now, getting fucked by republicans and democrats with nowhere to turn.

Stay strong friend.

Edit: it bothers me that "republicans" and "democrats" are autocorrect to be capitalized by the s10+ I'm typing this out on. Fuck outta here android

I’ve been saying this for months, and I am a literal nobody ranting on a video game forum. How is it that supposed experts and supergenius scientists are only coming now to agree with me?

Sweden had the right approach from day one and the insane people who advocated, and are still advocating, endless lockdown and destruction of the economy and all human contact (so, about 99.9% of the media, the government, twitter checkmarks, etc.) declared victory way too early.

Who said experts are agreeing with you?

The article you linked to shows that people with Covid19 generally develop six different sets of symptoms.

This doesn’t mean there are six different strains of Covid19 - it means that different people have different responses to the same strain.

You’re not going to catch Covid19 six times because there are six strains of Covid19 in circulation.

Bless you for the patience. People are so dumb.

Interesting though that Australia only mandated masks the last week or so.

So when they beat it the first time they didn't use any masks?

Its only one city, Melbourne, where its been mandated. That extends to the rest of the state in the next few days. Including back of bumfuck country towns, that would never have seen the virus too I guess.

Sydney is getting more cases lately as well, and there's talk of doing the same with masks there too.

As to if people wore them prior, they were around but the majority wouldn't. It depends though. Outside, you wouldn't see many. Supermarkets and shopping centers prob a few more, but still the majority didn't wear them. At least from my experience in inner city Melbourne.

And I fucking hate having to wear these masks. I only do when I go into stores or places of business so as not to cause a stink. But the whole idea is stupid and unnecessary and I hope it doesn't become a thing every flu season from now on.

Media's having a great time with the division its caused though. Surprise

57%? Shouldn’t there be a mountain of dead covid patients....

The slums of Mumbai seem the kind of place where people vulnerable to dying from covid have already died from other causes. But I'll wait for some more similar studies, one is none in this whole pandemic so far when it comes to headline grabbing conclusions.

NYC's antibody tests are showing 60%-70% in some neighborhoods.
I’m of the opinion that once it’s established in a place, it’s going to do a big burn through the first time in that region. You just try to control the burn and keep it manageable. Then you’re either going to have a vaccine or it will continue to spread in small pockets, but it won’t have the massive spikes because there will be fewer people to infect all at once.

Obviously, Jordan is right. It’s odd how Fauci is out there micromanaging our lives, telling us what we “should” and shouldn’t do, now saying we should wear goddamn goggles everywhere, but he simply cannot bring himself to say, “these protests are not helpful for spreading the virus and the protests should be thought of the same as any other public gathering, which the government has shut down.“

Fauci is and has always been a weasel. He's always just vague enough to never be pinned down. He couches his statements with just enough wiggle room to give himself an excuse later. Its weasel garbage. The most obvious examples are his early statements against wearing masks in public.

Notice how he mentioned masks a bunch of times to push the BS that the protesters all work masks so its completely safe to riot for 8 weeks 24/7.

Hilarious.

Insisting that crowds can increase the spread of the virus.
Insisting that people avoid doing things that increase the spread of the virus.
Does that include protests? Em Um Errr Oh well I couldn't possibly say...

It's been MONTHS and people can't just commit to either the virus being really fucking serious with no margin for error or it might not be that serious so it's OK to go to church etc.

At least the "plandemic" or "its a hoax" crowd are firm in their belief that it's all bullshit and they will do what they want.

This shit is like "it's really serious... unless you are breaking the rules for reasons WE arbitrarily approve of... then we don't really have an opinion you know".

No wonder people are getting pissed off.
Imagine having a small wedding cancelled. Or not being able to attend a small family funeral.
Yet you turn on the TV and these tools are refusing to condemn protests.

Might be for the best if the virus just kills everyone.

'People are not taking coronavirus seriously enough': Bradford Mosque leader says 'a lot' of his community has been breaking social distancing amid Muslim fury at last minute Northern lockdown on the eve of Eid
  • Lockdown started at midnight for all of Greater Manchester and parts of Lancashire and West Yorkshire
  • Residents banned from meeting people they don't live with in homes or gardens - but can still go to the pub
  • Matt Hancock announced new restrictions at around 9.15pm blaming 'a lack of social distancing' for rises
  • Affected areas: Greater Manchester, Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Rossendale, Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees
  • Sir Keir Starmer blasts 'new low for Government's communications during this crisis' hours before Eid began

It's starting to look as if the reintroduction of lockdown measures in the north of England was caused by people from Muslim communities in the affected areas.

And? The Netherlands had about the same lock down and cases are rising here. It also depends on how populated areas are .. see Australia that’s having a rise in cases ..

Its not looking good here in the UK. I've really not surprised both hairdressers on my road are just operating as usual no face shield or facemask etc.

It’s coming for everybody everywhere. It might be a slow wave or a spike. But it’s coming. It’s either that or lockdowns until the vaccine... maybe longer depending on the efficacy of the vaccine.

I have been preaching this for weeks. Sweden schooled the whole world. People always bring up the deaths per million but lets see where everything lands after the spikes.
Basically, their victory was to achieve social distancing through voluntary compliance alone. From that article:

"While an official lockdown was never ordered, Tegnell noted: "We have cut down on movement in society quite a lot. We have compared how much we travel in Scandinavian countries, and the decrease in travel is the same in Sweden as in neighbouring countries. In many ways the voluntary measures we put in place in Sweden have been just as effective as complete lockdowns in other countries. "

People use Sweden to talk about the possibility of achieving a strategy of "herd immunity", but based on the evidence, that's not how they "beat" the coronavirus (eg. https://sverigesradio.se/artikel/7498860).

What are you talking about? He says very clearly that any time folks congregate into a crowd, there will be increased transmissibility, especially if people are not wearing masks. There's nothing ambiguous or "weasly" about this. What you're seeing is Fauci trying to avoid being roped in these stupid partisan games that amounts to Jordan preaching incoherent nonsense for a sound bite - "well I don't see church gatherers and barbershops attacking police, do you Dr fauci?".

This is my thought on the clip. He is basically saying that they spread it, or at least there is a high likelihood of it. Jordan is pressuring him on questions of policy; Fauci doesnt set policy.

Been seeing a lot of this in this thread unfortunately, and it's got to stop. If you are saying you knew or predicted the outcome, you are lying and you are pretty much telling everyone you don't understand the basic tenets of virology -- There's no "I knew it!" 's when it comes to novel I.D.

So I did check it out:

“I think the message is that, clearly, this is something that is hurting from the standpoint of economics, from the standpoint of things that have nothing to do with the virus,” Fauci said. “But unless we get the virus under control, the real recovery, economically, is not gonna happen.”

“If you jump the gun and go into a situation where you have a big spike, you’re gonna set yourself back,” Fauci continued. “So as painful as it is to go by the careful guidelines of gradually phasing into a reopening, it’s going to backfire. That’s the problem.”

He could of said that the protest are going to backfire. But he couldn't. He had to couch it in terms like "crowds" and always make sure to keep the myth up that "protesters" all wear masks and follow proper hygine and are safe with their masks.

Fauci is a coward.
“A: It was implied in no crowds of more than 10 people. But you’re right, crowds in church are important and every time I get a chance to say it, I mention it. I can’t really criticize them strongly for that at all. When you say less than 10, it makes common sense that it involves the church. I say it publicly and even the vice president has said it publicly.”

Didn’t have a problem specifically mentioning churches either. But for some reason, he’s afraid to explicitly mention protests. Just keeps saying “crowds”. It’s weasel language. Just say the protests spread the virus.
