Demon's Souls on PS5 will allow choice between fidelity and frame rate.

Yeah, I saw this earlier.
Now I'm really excited. Would love this for as many exclusives as possible.

Also, if it's 4K/30, I don't think they'll need to go all the way down to 1080p for 60. I really don't want to have to play at 30 either way.

Also VRR makes targeting higher fps even more attractive for people with TVs that support it.

Is 4kCB60fps a possibility
Hell both consoles say they support 8k so is 4k+CB 30fps possible?
Serious question

I would hope that means 4k30 is the fidelity mode.

Going down to 1080/60 is unthinkable. I wonder if it will be a dynamic res topping out at 1440 at times.

Devs should always allow this or gaming companies should have this type of thing baked Into the consoles. Choices:
Higher fidelity
Higher FPS
Combination of both when RT and other intensive graphics hogs are turned off.

Having this baked into the console someway would have been a massive win for whoever and even though I don't like micros ecosystem I would have definitely bought it if thy had tht feature over Sony. For me thts a system seller in its truest form.

Going down to 1080p on a ps4 pro works fine this generation because they are all 1080p games at heart. That won’t be as acceptable in the next gen because they’ve been built from the ground up to take advantage of the PS5. So they’ll have to get it 60fps and a higher resolution than 1080p otherwise it’ll be really disappointing and create a massive dilemma for the player.

I don't understand why Demon Soul would need a fidelity option. It doesn't look like it's pushing any graphics boundary and the original game was basically confined to small rooms and corridors. There really should be no reason why this game couldn't just have both unless the developer wasted all the system resource on trying to simulate real world reflections on the armor.

great, very welcome feature sounding absolutely horrible without context for Playstation 5 marketing & pr

Really hope we get a 60fps option. I always thought the “performance mode” capped at 30fps was a bit of a joke. Horizon on the PS4 Pro does this and it’s a bit of a head scratcher.

Very nice. The more games do this the better. But I expect definitely a higher res than 1080p at 60fps.

it is the same for everyone. everyone has the option to decide what they want.

if u feel like ur getting the short end of the stick, go to the options and change it?

60FPS or 120FPS? So the higher frame rate version won't have ray tracing? I hope this is the standard, and judging from SOTC's frame rate mode it'll run decently.

Tbh I wasn't impressed with it.
While i liked the idea of a DS remake, it felt like it lost a large portion of it's paganistic atmosphere.
Think how Diablo 3, while technically better, felt like something was missing compared to the first 2.

Not sure how one could say that given what we saw were almost one for one remakes of scenes from DS on PS3....

Perhaps your memory of the first isn't 100%

Wonder how this will play out with the multiplayer component. I am guessing they will have separate servers for the separate modes.
Be kinda messed up if someone invades you running a higher framerate...

That doesnt mean much. The ps3/360 support 1080p but the tiniest of handfuls of games actually run that high.

to give you an idea, tye ps4 pro can barely run 4k (usually averages between 1440p-1800p or Cb4k) Now the ps5 is around 2.5x faster than the pro so native 4k Is more easily managed here, but 8k is not 2x, but 4x the pixel density as 4k, which would require that much more processing power.

8k is likely going to be reserved for games that are either BC with updates or games taht are not very heavy on processing power.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Having to make compromises between fidelity and frame rate before a new console is even out is not something I am particularly happy about.

But this is a "remake" not a "remaster" as far as I can tell.

It seems like Bluepoint and Japan Studio are rebuilding it with entirely new assets. I mean look at the comparison videos - the extra geometry and textures in what was shown is a lot...

Sony keep the bad choices again.
It should be the same for everybody.

It is a MP game after all.
Nahh... It's not.

It's a experience.

From Software games are experiences. There's no competitive aspect in Demons Souls... Only experiences.... Of being invaded by a red phantom using a scrapping spear and making your life hell.

Jokes aside.

It's actually good and it doesn't mean much in the competitive aspect, for example, Nioh, a game that has that and is souls like, works with it amazingly since almost every player that plays for pvp uses the action mode (60 fps).
