Tht was definitely in regards to bc as well as affordable price relevant to specs and 500 is not out of that realm
Yeah, makes the most sense to me man.
I'm in the uk, I think we are looking at about £450 with everything they are packing into these things, could be a little more or less but I think that's roughly how much its gonna be, exciting times man😁

Guess we'll find out tomorrow. They might go for one speed, but I doubt it'll be 15. Firstly I still a PS5 that's $500 at maximum. Secondly I don't want them to cheap out on something else to hit the 15 and the only way that would happen and still go 15 is to go well north of $500 on MSRP.

Would rather prefer a balanced design to the system vs something going for absolute power in one area just to be extremely weak in another critical area.
THIS.

People on the hype train should realize that PS5 won't have much more power than XSX. If anything, both will be rather equal in performance because of the price cap ($500). People who think that Sony or Microsoft would sell the console at a loss - given how grim the economy future is - are just kidding themselves.

Funny people talking about Castlevania all of a sudden. Anyways sort of bad news, (I'm bored) made some phone calls. Don't get your hopes up about two many games tomorrow.
If it was supposed to be a GDC presentation, then we shouldn't expect much more than hardware details and technical demos, probably enhanced current gen games just like MS did. Next gen games will come later.

I think it's because a lot of people are thinking like it's 2013 but the difference this time is that MS is actually designing a system with gaming as the primary focus. In 2013 gaming came off as "just a required bonus" to them and that multimedia was the main focus (just look at what they led off the reveal with).

That isn't happening this time, and I suspect Sony is also going gaming-first, hopefully. So I expect relatively even performance out of them once you factor in all the components like CPU, GPU, RAM, bandwidth, storage speed and size, cache, RT, etc. Yeah they might have slight advantages over each other in certain areas but it'll eventually come out to a wash.

He said both MS and Sony are going for specs that are more powerful than the RTX 2080.

That doesn't mean he knows the exact TF count.
He states that both are incredibly powerful and flops count doesn't matter. Considering the NDA power, he could know the number for all we know and lies to cover his ass. It's an slight advantage either or dead even. Even mentions an engineer being baffled by the obsession over t flops. Let them be even and win us with their platforms

BTW, Jim Ryan's main point of 'the bigger differences [vs PS4] have yet to be revealed' comment is about PS5 backwards compatibility will run "almost all" previous PlayStation games to date. (PS1, PS2, PS4 and PS3 included). This is gonna be the one big step forward for them in start of the next generation and a true meltdown.
And that's not all

Both are based on RDNA 2.0 tech and sony's biggest BOMBs are yet to come.

PS5 has more RAM & higher memory bandwidth , and faster SSD

I'm in camp 11.6, and I've got a feeling Spider-Man will be the featured previous gen title used in some demonstrations tomorrow. Just to flex the strong exclusives line up of the PS4 one more time.

I'm sticking with my 54cu guess but I think there will be a bees dick difference in tf between the 2.

While I agree with you that some PS4 titles maybe showcased on PS5, i doubt it will be "to flex the strong exclusives line up of PS4 one more time" at a PS5 dive-in, this event after all is for the PS5

I think people need to keep expectations in check. is sony had a more powerful system they would have said so months ago after game awards....Just my opinion. I really dont know but I have been good at guessing things

Indeed....it is a "not so good" opinion (in my opinion lol) and I do not understand that line of reasoning seeing as it is not necessarily true. There exists a possible world wherein Sony has a more powerful machine and yet, chooses to remain silent for marketing/strategic (or both of course) reasons. Gamernyc78 Gamernyc78 gave a great argument in this very discussion sometime ago about how and why Sony isn't threatened, doesn't need to concern themselves with pressure from a competitor, yadda yadda (many good reasons in other words homie!) lol. He drove the point home very well. You have to also remember that silence is also strength.

Microsoft's website. Seems it was like some super flash sale. I already have an X, but it's in repair (HDMI port busted probably).
Yeah I traded mine in for store credit at GameStop last month for $275 that I originally paid $200 for. I have one in my cart for save for later at $199 debating on should I purchase it or not

Everybody's gettin' in on this.

Brief mentions:

-Thinks SMT on/off feature with XSX is mainly for enhancing framerates of BC titles easily (or at least, the most obvious reason)
-Feels XSX CPU offers performance on level of an Intel i9 9900K
-Feels the XSX GPU offers 2080TI levels of rasterization performance
-Feels both XSX and PS5 will be $500
-Doesn't think Lockhart is a thing anymore or at very least is definitely not launching this year
-Thinks PS5's SSD could be twice as fast as XSX's

The whole PS5 having only 36 CUs because of BC rumor made absolutely no sense to me when Microsoft proved they can offer full BC with current gen games with more CUs on the Die than XB1X.

I'm so looking forward to tomorrow so everyone who believed that rumor can take a break from these forums.

LOL no. Not with 5MB L2. 3700X/9700K are the closest probably.

Both consoles are not gonna come out for at least another half a year. There's literally nothing for your average Joe to get hyped about yet. Sony could've waited all the way till Autumn to announce and not lose anything.
