He still assumes far too much. If you thought about the console market this way, we'd be well over $1,000 by now.
I'm not estimating a figure, I'm just talking about how he justifies his estimates. For example, lets look at the APU, MS doesn't pay retail they pay cost + licensing fee for each unit (obviously not including R&D costs already paid). The Xbone X already uses a big chip, 360 mm2 I believe. That's not much smaller than say the leaked estimates of 400 mm2. He uses the current discount prices of Xbone X to price lockhart, even though that chip will be much smaller than the Xbone X chip. This type of thinking doesn't fly for consoles. That's like saying the PS4 sells for $300, the new one is going to cost $1,000, it has an SSD etc. Some costs are like for like, even though the new parts are considerably faster.

He already shared his information and said he wouldn't say much until after the specs have been officially revealed. People who have specifics are not going to give out numbers to fans begging for it. He stated multiple times that he believes PS5 is slightly more powerful and it hasn't changed after the Xbox One Series X reveal.
He came back earlier today to give that statement, and it's quite clear that he's referring to people who are doubting him.

But they arnt. They could claim they were given the power in GCN flops. Klee will claim that he did say things could change and so theres his out if the XSX is more powerful, or that he was talking about the GPU speed being faster than the XSX GPU, not that it was more powerful.
Thats why they haven't come out with any new definitive numbers, so they cant be held to anything. They haven't answered one direct question.
For instance, "Hey Klee, does the PS5 have 36 Cu's?" If he has the spec sheet he would know. And lets be totally honest here, if he did answer that yes or no, how could that EVER give away his source? It couldn't. So it's not about protecting his source, its about protecting his butt.

Power is measured in Tflops, just like cars are measured in horse power. Performance is a different manner. Two cars can have the same power levels, but one can go faster than the other. So if the XSX is twice as powerful than the X, then it's 12tflops.
Btw 9.2TF even for 399$ is a stretch. Look into Resetera thread once Oberon was found (14.08) and they all went crazy over 9.2TF Navi, because expectations were really on the floor and 5700XT was matching R7 (13.5TF card) but still going for 450$. So, not cheap by any means.
HD7850 was less then 200$ when PS4 was released and RX470 was 180$ when Pro was released. These were 212mm² and 230mm² GPU equivalents. So, add to this SSD, Zen2, RT/VRS etc. and ask yourself if 399$ is price point.
Because 5700XT (without RT/VRS) is still 400$ card (and at 251mm², without RT cores, bigger then PC equivalents of PS4 and Pro cards).

I am pretty confident in saying both consoles will be very close in power with Xbox having a slight edge.
If I am wrong and Xbox has a monster power advantage then cool I will buy that for multi plats.

PS4 reveal was Feb. Pretty safe to assume Sony will do an official reveal at some point in the first half.
For sake of debate, I'll use my insider knowledge (which is 100% guessing) as say the reveal is March.

Tom Warren is as vague as some of the Sony insiders. The only ones that really put detailed information out there are Windows Central. Right now we have way more specifics when it comes to Xbox then we do with PS5. I hope PS5 is more than 10 tflops, but right now there are enough reasons for lot of people to doubt that it might be.

Yea. If its coming out Oct/Nov, it cant be these two. Nor it can be Dec as its already out by then.
January is a bit too soon, and that leaves Feb or March as everything in between that and E3 is not a good fit, and E3 or after is a no no. They have to have their own event.
So chances are picking Feb/March will yield you ~90% chance of being right.

I already posted here how that figure was circulating as early as April this year. I'm not saying Tom Warren is not an insider, but the info he had wasn't exactly new and he didn't have the specific details like what Windows Central provided.

There is nothing that these guys have stated that makes them the 'God' of either corporation.
Every single one of these guys have said PS5 is the more powerful of the two along with Jason Schreier (not sure of the spelling of his last name lol)
Matt has come out to say that the Github leak is not accurate which has the PS5 at 9.2TF's and other's have pointed out some inconsistencies in that leak as well. Digital Foundry did a piece on it whereby they stated some things don't look right and some are parts are probably accurate.
Personally i believe PS5 is at same level or slightly more powerful as Xbox Series X. Too many people in the know have said this. Sony's also super secretive about where they're at and the insiders have gone quiet. Any of them could have come out and flat out confirmed or denied the github leaks but none of them have which to me speaks to Sony's strict secrecy around PS5.
We have a month to go until all is revealed and if I was an insider, i wouldn't want to jeopardize the job of my industry source for the sake of being the first on forums to post or corroborate information that was leaked online. It's not worth it and i understand the silence of people like Matt, Klee, Jason etc.
When information is revealed i fully expect these guys to spill everything.
You're not going to get 4K/60fps games as standard next gen. Devs will use every last drop of performance to push visuals at 4k/30fps. I would love multiplayer components of games to go for full 4K/60fps and the single player campaigns to hit 4K/30fps. Then again i'm no developer and i guess its in their interest what target's they try to hit.
Personally I don't want native 4K titles. Give me checkerboard 4K and use every ounce of system resource to push visuals and framerate as high as possible.
Native 4K is a huge waste.
