PAX uninvites Colin Moriarty (PAX refuses refunds, Colin to refund 20 people out of own pocket)

Pray they don't do a Netflix adaptation, little lady. Redheads do not get representation in media.

The hate Colin gets is so unjustified. I didn't like it when his name wasn't allowed to be mentioned here, the way he was treated by Kindafunny (though I still like them overall) and obviously this PAX shit show.

Even if you disagree with him his arguments are always backed up with reasoning.

I just find it really sad there's alot of professional industry people out there that can't take an opinion other than their own. That it's now become easier to engage in insults/hate campaigns than to have an intellectual discussion.

Makes you really appreciate the level headed people in our community who can see issues in something other than black or white, right or wrong.

Most of all I really admire Colin for staying the course with the games industry despite so much toxicity. It can't be easy, but is definitely worthwhile and appreciated.

Not surprised, Moriarty and Ray Gun are known for not sharing the "correct" view of the mainstream media, I think people should start to make their own events, it's been clear for years that the left will kick you and walk away clear with their double standards.

Moriarty is the rare conservative thinker participating in an industry and community dominated by extreme leftists. With the left, you get insulted/bullied/threatened when you don’t agree with them— it’s bad enough when you want to avoid politics, but it’s far worse when you make it known that you’re in the center or right of center.

The extreme left has waged war against Moriarty for awhile now... whether it’s the “video game press” or people in the “video game community”. Politics and video games, sad as the reality is, are uncomfortably linked now... and the extreme left is only going to get louder and angrier as time goes on, empowered by social media platforms that give them carte blanche to treat everyone else like complete goatshit.

That's the problem. He's not a conservative, he's a moderate left (or left moderate). The extreme left keeps going farther and farther left and they label everyone conservative or right if they're not with them. It's a very sad downward spiral at this point.

And then they'll get defunded, the venue will kick them out, there's gonna be antifa out there harassing everybody if the event even takes place.
This stuff should've been regulated by the government long ago.

It shouldn't, it opens a precedent where a left wing government could shut down their event.

Wouldn’t surprise me if some antifa people were behind this. They love going behind backs and working with authority figures to shut people down

No, I mean you can't deplatform anybody if their opinion hurts your anal orifice, unless they're openly going out advocating for violence, which ironically would be a problem for antifa only.

Now reddit have shut down all discussion about the deplatforming, stating that it was 'low effort content'.

This is ridiculous, it's nothing but silencing, frustrating and antagonizing those of opposing views.

Why does everyone but me know who this dude is?
Colin? He was on IGN for years, then he started Kinda Funny with Greg 'the sellout' Miller.
After that he made a joke on womens day and all the gaming journalists and Reeeeee crowd attacked him, Greg and Kinda funny bought out his share of the company. He subsequently appeared on Dave Rubin and Joe Rogan.

He was the host of Beyond on IGN, which was the biggest PlayStation podcast at the time, he now hosts Sacred Symbols with Chris Ray Gun, it is currently the biggest PlayStation podcast and his patreon is larger than Kinda Funny by a wide margin.

He describes himself as libertarian and much of the progressive games crowd do not like that...

Funny because gaming subs on reddit are full of dumb memes (reddit isn’t monolithic by the way. mods are community organized)

Not that I support shitty outrage stoking videos or have any confidence forums populated by teenagers could have a civil conversation. I wouldn’t cry if they labeled it offtopic.

Hahaha 'we don't want to make nice with PAX, they can go fuck themselves' that was awesome from Colin.
I love that he sticks up for his fans. I dunno why he continues to live in California...

I don’t blame him about being legitimately concerned about his safety.
Right now, I'm just concerned cause he seems legitimately deeply hurt and he is being hounded and bullied by thousands of people. I dunno how these people cannot see the horrible way their acting, it's really disgraceful. I've never EVER treated somebody badly or attacked them just based on politics , it's insane.

Me neither.

The anger and frustration really started to come out at those last five minutes. It was great.

Sadly, this is the reality of things now. It takes courage to voice political beliefs because we live in a binary time. With us or against us.

This division has bled into everything: movies, sports, video games, television, you name it. Hard left Democrats have proven effective at gaining significant support in social media, the mainstream media, and most walks of entertainment. With these hard left Democrats comes not only a significant lack of tolerance, but a punitive attitude where dissenters must be deplatformed for the “greater good”.

Moriarty is understandably angry, but the deck is stacked against him. The video game industry, the “gaming press”, and a loud vocal legion of the “gaming community” are all admittedly hard left and follow that sect’s behavioral patterns. He may eventually be compensated through compromise or through litigation, but he’ll never win the war— which is, essentially, tantamount to a “cold war” of the civil kind.

I'm certain Colin actually called out Trump on some BS on Twitter at one point, I don't know if that's enough for these lily-livered blowhards to get over his political views.

You have no idea what they would do. You keep making these definitive statements about a situation which you know absolutely nothing about. You don't know what is likely or what is unlikely. You don't know how the organisers would communicate with Moriarty. You don't know what they would, have or will tell him. You know nothing about the situation.

I've made it very clear why I am "hung up" on the safety thing. I can't make it any simpler. You can continue to ignore that "safety thing" in favor of your sjw tin foil hattery if you like, but any reasonable person would look at Colin's history, then read the tweet encouraging people to attack him and come to the conclusion that he was removed for safety reasons.

This doesnt make any sense. Cancel his panel for safety reasons but then go on to ensure he had badges to attend the event? That is not how you address a serious security concern.

The way Colin gets treated is kinda heartbreaking, because he really never did anything wrong, never even came close to being truly offensive, they just went after him solely and only because he exists and is a libertarian (he's arguably not even a conservative).

I still cannot even comprehend how utterly insane GAF went when the Day without Women event happened. Literally thousands of posts losing their minds and the mods methodically hunting down and banning the handful of posters who dared to call them out for their obvious dishonesty. His best friends and business partners won't even talk to him anymore, because their peers have decided to pretend that they are offended.

I really hoped Colin would have came back here after the Reset but I don't blame him for not even trying.

I tried to relay that point to him, he just didn't grasp the concept. :messenger_weary:

It really is. All that anger says far more about them as people than it does about Colin. They're just mean and nasty people. Nothing whatsoever has been gained from any of this. Absolutely nothing. Their lives aren't better, the world isn't better, no one else's lives are better, and Colin's certainly isn't. They do it because it makes them feel good. They hide behind a righteous front, but let's get down to it. It's very similar to Cersei's little taunt in season 6 in the cell to a certain someone(won't elaborate more in case people here hasn't seen GOT) but it's honestly the same thing. They don't like Colin and the satisfaction of doing something to hurt him gets them off and makes them feel better about themselves. And I think many of them are jealous of Colin's wealth. They don't like that he can make more money using his video game insight and political/historical knowledge and make a good living. It eats them up and they have no constructive way to deal with it other than to lash out in attacks.

The same characteristics of bullying pretty much exactly. They're bullies is what they are. One way or another, they are going to get theirs. You can't go through life attacking that many people especially in the real world and not have it come back to bite you in some way. And when it does, no one will feel sorry for any of them.

They've also released some more "questionable" stuff,

zab3ZvS.jpg

Oh dios mio.

fqxY8hZ.jpg

That isn't questionable at all. His daughter is interested in the game he is playing, likes that the character has a similar hair colour and he agrees as he looks at his daughter, who has red hair (clearly suggesting a fondness due to his familial ties). This is as non-questionable as they come and you are just looking to be needlessly offended.

PAX are cunts for this. I don't agree with Colin often, but I respect the man and what he does. The fact that a grown ass man with a kid openly suggested assault and Twitter has yet to do anything about it is just beyond sad. I do hope someone calls child services as that kid should not be in that home.

Their "response".

No refunds for customers.

That's right kids, pay for tickets, flights and accommodation to see a panel you were promised, only to have it pulled at the last minute with no given reason and have no compensation.

It was a "difficult decision", which means that it's not because he's being threatened. If that was the case they wouldn't mess around deciding whether or not to cancel. They call the decision "unfortunate" and apologise. Basically, they were pressured by one or more other panelists and won't say who.

Time to figure out who's going to PAX that especially hates Moriarty.

Is there a panels schedule online?

If it really was Gregg, that would make him either a coward or a scumbag. But I don't think he would stoop so low.

I was (mostly) kidding. I don't like making negative assumptions about people based on politics. You can't criticize people who pull that with you, and then do it to others in return. I try not to be a hypocrite, as everyone should.

Besides, PAX refusing to publicly explain their reasoning should anger EVERYONE. It should anger Colin's fans because they aren't even professional enough to give him a reason, and it should anger people who hate Colin, because PAX refuses to risk their reputation and / or success by drawing a line in the sand and saying "if you think like this person, we don't want you here, and we don't want your money." They want all of the protection of not associating with Colin, but none of the risk of doing so vocally. If this is their values at work, it's a pathetic half-measure.

There's only one place you can truly put this blame, and that's PAX. No matter who said what to get him removed, it was ultimately their decision to remove him, and their decision not to take a stand on the matter.
