Crackdown 3 (XB/PC, Sumo Digital) E3 Trailer out Nov 7th

Well, crackdown always had a cellshading/comic type of style.

Why should they abandon what was always there?

Just remember everyone thought crackdown looked like crap when they bought it for halo 3. It wasn't long after it was realized just how good the game really was.

Yeah I thought it looked like a current gen Crackdown, which is what I was expecting. Wish they showed us some MP gameplay though.

Not a great trailer. Hoping to see some floor feedback this week. Only Microsoft game I'm excited for.
Cuphead looks great but I'll get that on Steam.

For a game that's coming out in a few months, not having a gameplay demo and introducing it with a poorly produced trailer doesn't bode well.

MP apparently being displayed on the showfloor.

Chances are we'll get video by the end of the week.

Relax, people. So they had a shitty trailer. Wouldn't be the first shitty trailer.

This is a Xbox one X launch game, why the heck did they not show more of this? We seen more of games coming out in 2018 smh

Loftis reaffirms destruction still coming

Though I'm definitely worried they showed that instead of MP destruction.

Yeah, that makes me worried as well. They could just as easily made a trailer like they did here but have it be for multiplayer with all the destruction. Didn't HAVE to be a live playable demo (Although I would've rather had that). This was their chance get people excited for the "Showpiece" on XboneX. Was a poor decision.

I still think it looks fun, but I agree that it doesn't look quite as good as the demo they had years ago. Odd to not show any of the crazy destruction that originally had also. That makes me think it's not there any more, but the Terry Crews intro mentioned bringing down buildings so I don't know what to think.

EDIT: Ah so it was campaign stuff.

At least it didn't go the way of Scalebound o.o

Really expected this to be way more impressive, at least on Scorpio, but incredibly underwhelming trailer.

So what happened to the destruction and the power of the cloud?

Multiplayer only which has always been the case. Single player is playable offline.

Its been known for I think a little while Sumo handling SP and Reagent handling MP

Ehh, they're sweeping it under the rug. Terry Crews got more showtime than the game.

I don't blame them after the cloud nonsense, but what they did show looks a very far cry from what they talked up past E3.

No clouds detected. Suns out, guns out. Lessons learned I hope.

This didnt look good, fortunately there's demo available on the floor so i hope to see some impressions and videos soon.

But yeah, looked bad and the animation was poor, guns, decals, explosions even the sparse poorly detailed city looked awful.

Even if the MP is still in with the prettier visuals and amazing destruction, man this single player doesn't look good at all. Biggest disappointment for me, I was really looking forward to seeing this game.

this. the game still looked pretty fun and i dont mind a downgrade in destruction so much, but the game doesnt look anything like the reveal the lighting and style of graphics are way worse.

The style looked like an HD version of a mid 2000s B game. It looked really wonky but they get a lot of bonus points for the Terry Crews trailer.

WTF is this? looks like lag, shitty animation that snaps into action with barely any transition. This really puts me off the game, this is just soul destroying to see because it looks like a lazy effort. Angular blocky terrain... arghh. Sumo have Xbox One X to exploit and this is the best they can do?

Air dash?

Right, which is why they've always said destruction would be for MP only.

They have not always said that destruction would be for MP only. They have said that the power of the cloud would allow an amazing multiplayer experience. As far as I know they haven't talked much about the Campaign (which is co-op, thus a "multiplayer experience", thus fairly to be assumed to have destruction in it, no?) other than that Sumo was handling it and that it'd have some of the same stuff of Crackdown and cool new stuff.

They never came out and said, "This awesome destruction gameplay will be all yours in Crackdown 3's amazing Multiplayer Mode! ... And then also there's this naff single-player campaign that you can throw cars around in like the '07 game and some other simple jumpy-shooty stuff but don't get your hopes up for everything you see here. Pre-order now!"

There is a lot hate here for no reason ... Reagent games is not a big studio BTW.

Crackdown 3: $59.99.
Size of your team doesn't matter to the end user, you have to deliver the value of what you're charging. I'm not saying the game will suck (you're right, we are probably overreacting mostly, although if Campaign has none of the destruction that made me and many others care about this game's existence, that will be a huge problem for their marketing and for fan acceptance of value,) but if we're already resorting to excuses, that ain't good.

They could just as easily made a trailer like they did here but have it be for multiplayer with all the destruction ... Was a poor decision.

I also ask ... how was what Microsoft posted a "Single Player" or "Campaign" trailer? No story details. No world setting. No villains introduced. (I guess I should look at the Terry Crews portion as being introduced to a "character"?) No weapons or tech described that's not in MP (I assume?) No character reactions to events happening in the world that they're shooting and blowing up. Barely anything of the ENF opposing force; some grunts flying like cannon-fodder bots. It had other characters playing with you (thus "multiplayer", but not all multiplayer is alike) and it kept cutting from player to player. So... story mode.

Just absolutely the wrong trailer. If the game is better than this trailer makes it look, I'm pissed at Microsoft for doing such a poor job presenting the game.

Crackdown 1 previewed/demoed much worse than it played in full, so I'd love to be proven wrong with a trailer-defyingly awesome game...

There is a lot hate here for no reason. MP will be showed playable at e3. The art style has always looked like this. Destruction is only in multiplayer and sumo digital had been helping on this for a while. The last twoyears has been makingthe game more then just a tech demo. Reagent games is not a big studio BTW.

They have said that the power of the cloud would allow an amazing multiplayer experience, and then as far as I know haven't talked much about the Campaign (which is co-op, thus a "multiplayer experience", thus fairly to be assumed to have destruction in it; the E3 2014 version was even described to have "open-world cooperative gameplay supported by dedicated servers", although I don't have the original press release to know what was paraphrased there) other than that Sumo was handling it and that it'd have some of the same stuff of Crackdown and cool new stuff.

Yeah fingers crossed, i had huge expectations for this game. Unlike CD1/2 they had unlimited funds and more importantly, time. Annoyed at Shannon Loftis tbh.

Lets wait and see i guess.

Yes, they have. They made that quite clear from the start:

Ha, this lame trailer was in a way perfectly on brand for Crackdown.

Will play on my PC because I'm a huge fan. But by the end of the trailer I was kind of in shock... at what I saw.... and not in an eyes bleeding sort of way...

But man, seeing the groups of agents all jumping off a building together... so good. Crackdown is so fuckin' good. I want to hear more about the location and the city. I sorta hope its pacific city.

Calm down everyone it's just single player footage...

They said SP wouldn't have cloud.
Yeah. What probably happened was they came up with some amazing cloud based never seen before tech that's gonna blow everyone away and then they decided let's just show off the single player part that doesn't have that because we just have too many awesome things to show today.

Used to have the orb jingle as my text alert, orb collecting was addictive:)

Wait so MP mode is not the story mode with online players? Like a different mode? WTF?
MP mode is where you'll be able to destroy everything in sight, it wouldn't make sense to try and pair that with the story mode.

Yeah. What probably happened was they came up with some amazing cloud based never seen before tech that's gonna blow everyone away and then they decided let's just show off the single player part that doesn't have that because we just have too many awesome things to show today.

Yep, seems like a good theory.

So what's so great about this game that everybody was talking about so much?

I've seen some generic games in my life but this one takes the prize. And it doesn't even look fun or anything.

They didn't show anything at all which tells me they aren't confident in it what so ever.

I really liked the first crackdown and thought the second was terribly disappointing.
And now the initial reveal for crackdown 3 was great and after this second showing I'm really disappointed.

Development hell I'm sure. Huge let down.

I've been following this game for a long time. They've repeatedly said that the cloud destruction was for mp only and that the campaign (which can be played offline) would feature limited destruction

Wait so MP mode is not the story mode with online players? Like a different mode? WTF?

It had to be separate.

If the story mode required a net connection people would rage.

Since story mode is playable offline, it can't have the cloud features.

When did Sumo Digital take the lead on this project? It was strange seeing their name in front of the trailer.

They've been on since the beginning. They handle the story mode. Reagent and cloudgine did the MP
