Crackdown 3 (XB/PC, Sumo Digital) E3 Trailer out Nov 7th

Now this is a shitpost. I'm a massive crackdown fan and that was a let down.
Same here.

And every year I check in to see whether they've realized what made Crackdown so damn good in the first place.

And every year I'm let down.

So there is no destruction is SP?
Very curious to know how many people out there still don't know that those destruction tech demos were only for the PvP side of things.

So the awesome destruction is just some side thing for MP?

Was that always known?
YEA. That was always the case. Limited destruction in SP because they didn't want to ruin the flow of the game. MP has full scale destruction

It's seeming like Crackdown MP and Crackdown SP are going to be 2 very different games

Showing the SP with no destruction is the equvilent of a single player focused title (IE Last of Us) showing their tacted on multiplayer on the main stage and then having a seperate showing for the actual story trailer.

Not an accurate analogy. TLoU had excellent MP.

This looked like...well, yeah.

Well, to be extremely brutal: it was announced really early and was (at the time) being made by a *crazy* small developer with no track record. They were making the game based on a tech demo designed to push a marketing gimmick, using an engine that has no open world pedigree. The only public showcase had it relying on very large numbers of high end servers to function (the cost would have been nuts). It then went dark and was quietly moved to a new developer who is *extremely* competent, but does somewhat specialize in salvaging flailing projects.

So, um, yeah.
I honestly thought it was going to be canned. I'm glad it's coming out and sumo are great, but I fully expect it's been absolute hell.

You said it well.

yes because as we all know, multiplayer games are always better looking and have more complicated physics simulations than their single player counterparts lol

What was a letdown? It looks like Crackdown! Crazy weapons, jumping, or collection, throwing cars at shit, dope looking neon city...

Exactly, it looked like a game from 10 years ago. Could have done with a complete overhaul of the visuals for starters. And it even has the same jank.

Cloud destruction is just marketing. A SP game can and should have destruction.

Persistent? That could mess with any sort of campaign where you're supposed to go and get a boss from a building you already leveled.

The building destruction was always an MP thing.

Oh yea? Point out in the 2 minute trailer that you know for a fact it has all the exact same jank as the original game.

first off

i had no issue with any of your posts in this thread

and secondly

yes, there's a ton of shitposts in this thread. just attacking the game for the sake of attacking the game. hell, one of the guys in this thread says he was interested in the game... look in his post history to dig up a post "nobody gives a shit about crackdown"

like... seriously. so transparent.

...

I legit feel like I'm going mad lol. What were you looking for, here?
Solid Crackdown campaign footage.

Whats new? Whats expanded? Whats refined? Where is the that power of the X?

Gotta agree with the poster above that said it looked like quick cuts of a Crackdown remaster - not a game that's been cooking for so many years now since the reveal. And I've seen better looking explosions in Just Cause and Wildlands.

Man that was a disappointing showing. I know its supposed look and feel like crackdown but that art style is super tired. At the very least the game doesn't look next gen at all or show the value of the X's power.

Looked so very disappointing. The way they just threw the trailer out there with no live gameplay or developer coming out leads me to believe that MS has little to no confidence in the game.

Was hype when Terry Crews showed up, but the gameplay did nothing for me :/ gonna wait for reviews on this one

Yeah it looked like it was ingame the picture behind him and that looked great. Then the gameplay started and it didn't look good at all anymore.

After such a long development time I expected something really fucking awesome. Oh man I am just sad now.

So there is no destruction is SP?

Massively dissapointed.

That said, if it's as good as CD1, I'm still in.

They literally said that would be the case when it was announced.

It's a tagged on Single-player mode.

Crackdown 3 IS the always online mode that they have already shown

It does have a complete overhaul of the visuals. This is what the first game actually looked like:

...You're literally the only who thinks this looks remotely passable. What crazy pills ARE you on?

I have no idea man.

I can agree that we didn't see ENOUGH, but the bits of the game we did see looked like what I want out of Crackdown, namely, more Crackdown (with new toys but without zombies pls).

ReAgent/Cloudgine is listed on the game's description page, which is good. Kinda weird they weren't credited in the trailer though.

I'm a little concerned about this "multiplayer arena" though. Am I right to infer that suggests the play area is smaller in multiplayer?

Given that the game is 5 months out from release, and didn't have a proper gameplay demo... it doesn't look good. Hopefully full destruction is indeed still in for multiplayer and this is just an underwhelming showing of a game that turns out well (wouldn't be the first time), but right now I feel like some skepticism is warranted.

Edit: I was wrong about the developer changing.

Is this playable at E3?

Where was the announcer? Transforming vehicles? Bosses and lieutenants? Rogue orbs? Platforming?

The trailer did nothing to highlight a lot of the things that make up Crackdown.
I think this is the drawback of having to show some cinematic trailer.

Given that the game is 5 months out from release, has seemingly changed developers, and didn't have a proper gameplay demo... it doesn't look good. Hopefully full destruction is indeed still in for multiplayer and this is just an underwhelming showing of a game that turns out well (wouldn't be the first time), but right now I feel like some skepticism is warranted.

No it hasn't.

By far the most disappointing showing of the entire conference. Looked like damn shovelware.

"Shit, we have a terrible game. Let's hire a meme comedian to distract people from how bad it looks."

Loved the original Crackdown on 360, but this... man I can't describe how poor this looked.

Yep. Trailer absolutely screamed 'development hell'.
Lmao

Exactly this. Five months to release and it didn't even get stage time. Just a montage of single player mode? And even that montage was janky as fuck with noticeable slow downs during large explosion sequences?

They spent the first few times talking about this game with the multiplayer and power of the cloud marketing nonsense and now that the game is this close to being an actual release title this is the best we can get?

The people defending this with "Crackdown has always had better multiplayer" have some serious rose colored glasses on. It was never the multiplayer that made Crackdown the breakout darling it became. It was an over-the-top addictive single player (e: and co-op) crazy collect-a-thon open world before every other developer came along and ruined the genre for everyone else. Today's trailer reminded me of Crackdown 2, not Crackdown 1 - and that's not a good thing.
