WaPo: Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister

McCain leading that resistance like

GOP won't do anything because they know Trump will roast them all on Twitter if they do and then his braindead followers won't reelect them. Trump could shit on a plate and his voters would call it blueberry pie.

Dems can absolutely run with this as the GOP enabling an idiot putting our National Security at risk. This type of thing imperils out relationships with allies whom we share intelligence with. If Donny "Loose Lips" Trump gets a ship sunk, Republicans are never going to hear the end of it.

If a US agent or source or spy gets killed because of this....

We know it's a source developed by an ally, not a US agent. Could be one of the ISIS-adjacent partners but a lot of ISIS recruits are indoctrinated young people from Western Europe. EU security services have been running many of them as sources. Some of these operations have been going for YEARS.

Under normal circumstances, actionable intelligence from such operations would be shared with the US because a lot of threats target US personnel and civilians and, frankly, it's a good bargaining chip to get something in return from the US IC.

These arrangements were always taken dead serious by all parties until now.

Still not on CNN. I guess they are waiting to see if its worth talking about. But it is Wolf. Don't expect good things from him.

There is a limit, where public opinion turns so vitriolic toward Trump and anyone who supports or protects him that it poisons the entire Republican "brand" and begins to significantly risk the career of every Republican in the House and Senate.

Party before Country, but Self before Party. That's the Republican Way.

But this IS a thing. Regardless if the GOP do nothing or not. This is a thing. It's something I'll continue to remember and hopefully many of others do when they go vote.

I just don't see the base turning on him for anything. "Public" opinion (that is the media and entertainment) has been against him for 2 straight years. It's done shit to sway the opinion of his base. they are STRENGTHENED by negative opinion of their God-Emperor. To them it is proof that he is "onto something".

what's getting annoying is the people who keep claiming "oh shit this is the THING" every week. It's never been the thing. Republicans control congress. We have at least 2 years of this barring a miracle.

I mean, it's not the thing, but stuff like this happening constantly definitely hurts Trump.

Pure speculation: I think a source linked to the Russians maybe leaked this. This is what Russians do and use media who pick up on leaks as "useful idiots", they've done it in the past such as with doping, and will fit in with their attempts to destabilise the U.S and its efforts with other countries.

Certainly possible.

Either way, Russia stays winning.

the thought of him boasting about a probably terror attack somewhere in the world while talking with his ruskie bros makes me feel so ill... this man has no respect for anything, human lives are worth zilch to him

"Hillary needed to be tried and executed for using her email server. Trump willingly gave a key allies intel to a foreign adversary. No big deal. Fake news. SAD."

Can't tell if genuine Trump supporter, Russian web team member or troll. I'm having a hard time telling the difference.

I don't wanna read anybody defend McCain ever again. Pretty please.

It doesnt even matter what Trump does anymore it seems. I think he might have been right, he could shoot someone and stay president of the usa.

Right? He could kill a child of one of the Republican legislators on live TV and the GOP would spin it into an act of true patriotism. There are too many mealy-mouthed cowards in the GOP to just say "Trump did something wrong & should face consequences".

This was delivered to the press not by some random leaker, but deliberately, by the Adults In Charge Who Are Working The Larger Plan.

Donald is toast. As he was weeks ago too. Just more extra crispy now.

This is where I'm at. It's at the point where I figure he could get away with public murder by claiming he didnt pull the trigger he was finger quoting around it. Dckhead's made of lubricant.

He's not. It's just really fucking embarrassing to admit the emperor is naked.

He was 44.2% disapprove the day he took office. He's 53.8% now.

Yes it should be higher. Yes a lot of people still have their heads firmly in the sand.

But that doesn't make it so he can get away with everything unscathed.

CNN reporting on this now too.

Nothing is going to be done, these people are to evil and cowardly.

Vote in 2018, if the FBI doesn't stun us before then.

As in Trump firing the entire entire FBI and the new FBI stun-gunning us as we walk in to the polls?

Donald won't get his guy in at the FBI. Gowdy was already told By The People Really In Charge not to even bother applying, he sent a cute letter saying he wasn't the right person at this point in time.

If and when Trump is finally punished for everything he's done, I hope they round up every last Republican in Congress and slap obstruction of justice charges on them. They know everything he's doing and are actively working to protect him from investigation and impeachment - how is that not obstruction?

The reason his supporters keep supporting him no matter what is because a lot of his supporters (not all, but a lot) are the types that can't imagine that what they think is wrong and that their judgement might no be the best.

Saying he's made mistakes or that he should be impeached is them admitting they were wrong to vote for him, and they hate that more than they fear the consequences of his actions.

As much as I wish something would come of this, we've moved past the point that Trump even has to declare something like this to be fake news. Now, his followers just take Russia as the second coming, so anything that benefits Russia, even if it ended up being outright treason, is somehow good for the USA. The rest of the GOP just seem to be suffering from terminal apathy.

As each day goes by, the following quote seems more and more relevant.

"Hypocrisy is all about the gap between truth and lies, integrity and falsehood, and justice and injustice. At its heart are gaps that are covered by a pretense that is false and a pose that is a cover. Expressed more precisely, hypocrisy involves a triple violation. It is a violation of truth because the content of what it appears to say is untrue. It is a violation of justice because the claim it appears to show is unjust. And it is a violation of honesty because the communication through which it appears to speak is dishonest." (Os Guinness, Guest Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center and a Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution)

And it's sad, too, because Corker is a piece of a shit. When he's got the moral high ground, you know shit is fucked up
