WaPo: Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister

what's getting annoying is the people who keep claiming "oh shit this is the THING" every week. It's never been the thing. Republicans control congress. We have at least 2 years of this barring a miracle.

There is a limit, where public opinion turns so vitriolic toward Trump and anyone who supports or protects him that it poisons the entire Republican "brand" and begins to significantly risk the career of every Republican in the House and Senate.

Party before Country, but Self before Party. That's the Republican Way.

But this IS a thing. Regardless if the GOP do nothing or not. This is a thing. It's something I'll continue to remember and hopefully many of others do when they go vote.

I'm still laughing at BuzzFeed's news strategy for the past few big stories

"If it's true, I would say it's disturbing," MCCAIN to me on Post story of Trump revealing classified intel to Russians

Pure speculation: I think a source linked to the Russians maybe leaked this. This is what Russians do and use media who pick up on leaks as "useful idiots", they've done it in the past such as with doping, and will fit in with their attempts to destabilise the U.S and its efforts with other countries.

Knowing Trump, he probably intentionally leaked the information to fuck with the intelligence agencies. Above the law, suckers!

GOP won't do anything because they know Trump will roast them all on Twitter if they do and then his braindead followers won't reelect them. Trump could shit on a plate and his voters would call it blueberry pie.

Of course they could put the good of the country over being reelected, but how likely is that?

Hey at this point, why the hell not.

Jesus, they should just brief him with fake Intel. There are no positives for Trump knowing anything at all since not only is he completely incompetent, uninformed, and uninterested, but apparently he'll just tell it all to our enemies anyway.

This is just reminding me of that SNL sketch from last weekend.

"Is that it? Did we get him? Oh right nothing matters. Absolutely nothing matters anymore"

It's unbelievable. The shit Trump is able to get away with

The CIA director and NSA director should step down and say fuck you Trump. I don't wanna work for a traitor.

McMasters is on active duty, so I'm pretty sure he can't resign or refuse the position, he'll have to be dismissed by the President. And Pompeo is one of the better Trump picks, so it's better if he stays really.

How much worse? Are they conversing in fucking Russian?

nope more like - Руководство по ремонту посла я могу дать вам bj наряду с этими ядрёные баллистические коды.

What was McMaster's statement?

I think it may be:

"The president and the foreign minister reviewed common threats from terrorist organisations to include threats to aviation," said H.R. McMaster, the national security adviser, who participated in the meeting. "At no time were any intelligence sources or methods discussed and no military operations were disclosed that were not already known publicly."

But it might be somewhat of a catch 22? McMaster presumably wouldn't want to confirm the Russians have new classified info so of course he'd deny it?

My only question, how did the Washington Post's sources get that info? Did it come from Whitehouse staff, or from the IC intercepting Russian communication?

The WaPo article said there were aides. There were also transcripts (from where we got the readout) and Trump taps his own offices (the article about reporters interviewing him several years ago and he asked if anyone wanted drinks, and drinks were brought in without him picking up a phone/intercom, for instance).
He has a diet Coke button:

Okay for real if he weren't completely in Putin's pocket he would not be doing this shit.

Even a senile amphetamine-addled greasy-skinned spraytanned sack of rotting meat like Donald Trump should know by now that there is a little bit of a perception problem with him and Russia. Even someone as dumb as Trump understands that it would be better for him if he didn't keep hanging out with members of the Russian government and intelligence community.

Which means that they definitely do own him. I think they literally own a large part of his heavily-leveraged business empire and could bankrupt the fucker by calling in a couple loans. Add that to the kompromat that we know exists and the little favors that they did for him during the election and it makes sense that he's willing to go down for this Russia stuff.

He'd rather be a traitor than poor or embarrassed.

In for history. Trump is going to make my class on Global Surveillance next semester infinitely more interesting. Hopefully b y that time we'll be talking about how he was impeached.

Oh, if only someone could shove a tape of him saying this into his face. Would be so nice to see him squirm to explain how this doesn't apply to Trump. I know he'd find a way, but it would still be great to watch him struggle.

He would just say that, as President, Trump has the authority to decide who gets know what info.

Basically that McCain quote a few posts up.
