Off topic, but what is the gif?

Why are people so bent out of shape about it being a customized Jaguar? It could be a hamster on a wheel for all I care as long as it does what it promises... which looks like it will!! So sign me up

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
Sold. Never cared for the console for a few reasons (size, underpowered and more expensive at launch, obsolescence of my entire XBLA library from the 360). This changes (almost) everything!

So... tell me again why all Scorpio games also have to be Xbox One games?

Let the Scorpio have exclusives! Unlock that potential!

Ps5 or any new gen console will not be announced for atleast another 2 to 4 years! Console generations are not based on just hardware but sales and sales peaks.

The PS4 Pro and Scorpio are a way to extend this gen as both systems were underpowered in 2013 but Sony and Microsoft had to put out hardware that year as sales for the PS3 and 360 were falling.

Quoting for those who didn't read all articles:

"From what I've seen so far, there is some evidence that Scorpio's true 4K performance could pose a challenge to the likes of Nvidia's GTX 1070 and AMD's Fury X-class hardware. I've seen Microsoft's new console running a Forza Motorsport 6-level experience locked to 4K60 on the equivalent to PC's ultra settings - cranking up the quality presets to obscene levels was one of the first things developer Turn 10 did when confronted with the sheer amount of headroom it had left after a straight Xbox One port. Out of interest, we tested Forza 6 Apex with similar settings at 4K on GTX 1060, 1070 and 1080. Frames were dropped on GTX 1060 (and a lot of them when wet weather conditions kicked in), while GTX 1070 held firm with only the most intense wet weather conditions causing performance dips. Only GTX 1080 held completely solid in all test cases. It's only one data point, and the extent to which the code is comparable at all is debatable, but it certainly doesn't harm Scorpio's credentials: Forza 6 Apex received plenty of praise for the quality of its PC port."

Yeah, it's just on one game, but that game was a stress test with higher settings than the Forza 6 Apex PC release, but on that test Scorpio delivered the performance of a 1080.

It's supremely impressive what Ms achieve there.

Correct. It's why I'm staying out of responding to most of the posts. Lot of good info in the articles showing what the console can actually do with how they constructed it, but most people are just ignoring the content of the articles.

Explain this to me like I'm 5.
It's a beefier Xbox Pro. Xbox SuperPro if you will. Seems to be even better software customization though and b/c games will be further enhanced which is already superior's to PS4's PSnow and PS2-remastered games being trickled out IMO. Games should look and run even better than on Pro and Scorpio will have more games that hit native 4K.

HOLY SHIT! :)

It's like the january reveal all over again. DF show some impressive stats, but everyone gets so hung up on stuff that doesn't matter and pretend the impressive stats never happened.

It's a (surely) $400 console delivering the same performance of a 1080, a gpu that by itself costs more than double the console.

You'd think gamers would be excited for that, specially on all the praise Pro receives (yeah, it's not close to Pc, but it's impressive performance for $400), but no, let's trash on how the cpu is not zen XD

I'm in. Forced 16xAF and downsampling will mean image quality is insanely good at 1080p. The fact that 16xAF even extends to 360 games is very welcome surprise.

This feels like the Pro done right, so many little extra touches to sweeten the deal.

Crazy that its stronger than a GTX1070. Thing sounds like a fucking beast. I probably am not going to get one at launch, mainly because I imagine its going to cost a pretty penny, but I have friends that are going to jump all over this thing.

Like how scorpio is over 3x the tflops as xbox one, with more then double the ram, with a theoretical 50% increase on dx12 instructions on top of the 33% increase in CPU clock speed. If your issue is jaguar that's fine but the point remains, everything spencer/Microsoft has been saying is we are beyond console generations now and these "upgrades" are what we can expect going forward. I'm not really sure what your arguing here

I could say the same.

Don't recall using the term "generation" anywhere, so I'm not sure why Phil's quote would have any bearing on our discussion.

A poster asked the group where MS would be able to go with their next piece of hardware. I threw out some speculation. You asked if I was being presumptuous. Putting aside that all speculation is, by its nature, presumptuous to some degree, I think I gave some pretty well educated guesses.

Also- I have no issue with Jaguar. I think what MS did makes perfect sense for a closed box in 2017.

Will there be an event before E3 where they show box/date/price? And some games of course...

Or will they (after this DF reveal) save everything for E3?

I was convinced that they would have that type of event, but after this DF spec reveal, not so sure.

$400? Really?

Ive no idea how much this will cost to make. I've no idea if MS will get a good ROI on the box.

I just do not see a scenarios where they announce $499 price.

This is for a few reasons.

1. Phil Spencer had the unenviable task of announcing the price in 2013. Forget all the Kinect, TV TV TV, and DRM nonsense. $499 did not wash. Remember his reaction? And the crowds? Watch here: https://youtu.be/B2zslQ9PWPQ

2. The One S is currently RRP $249 with a bundled game. It will likely, closer to Scoprio launch and the holidays, drop to at least $229 RRP. Maybe even lower. The Scorpio plays the same games, uses the same accessories. Can they 'sell' a 4k upgrade for potentially double the price?

3. The competition. The PS4 Pro RRP is $399. You can expect a bundled game and/or a a price drop approaching Holiday 2017 to say $349. At $499, Scorpio would be 25-43% more expensive. It would not wash.

So, putting aside how much this 'should' cost... I can not see a price higher than $399.

Not funny.. I was expecting Rysen :(.

The Rysen just came out. For a company to put it's console on the line the product has to be tested and proven. What if Rysen had a huge problem, and Scorpio had to be delayed to rework things, specs, and software? They had no time. Expect Rysen or whatever for next gen consoles.
