COMICS!!! |OT| December 2016. Motor Girl is my new Motor Crush

I love, love, loved the Mockingbird issue. Mockingbird has been an absolute delight in any comic she made guest appearances in. Being Silk's handler or spidey's sidekick but I don't get her romantic life, or peter's for what it's worth.

Like when the chinese mechanic got bribed to kill spiderman she was all of a sudden peter's girlfriend? Spider Man meanwhile is flirting with Mockingbird, who's sleeping with her exhusband and fwb.

I just remembered how the Civil War movie spends all its time building up the threat of five more Winter Soldiers, and then it shoots that whole thing dead so it ends up being about tony and steve's bullshit feelings

I was so goddamn ready for that. So ready.

Zemo played them like fiddles, had Bucky not been a wuss, Steve letting Bucky go and deal with the actions as WS and just told Tony the truth, yeah...

Anyone here read Island? Sounds awesome, a monthly antholgy by Image. Just got the first couple of issues

PSA: If any one has not been keeping up with One Piece, now is the time to jump back on. Things are moving up a couple of gears!

1 Year Viz subscription is currently $15 with the code 'SJDVDBR16'
I need to jump back in, but Dressrosa killed my momentum so hard. It just wasn't very good where I dropped it. I decided to wait so I wouldn't feel the pacing burn so much.
Man. I hate that. Do you know which one started first so I know what order to read them in?
Just read Forever Evil and then Forever Heroes with the knowledge you have. Or vice versa. Not that hard, dude.
No but it's easier to get into than comics and there's less to read

Yes. My favourite story of the ones I've read so far has to be Habitat by Simon Roy. I still need to go back and finish that out but what I read gave me new-Prophet vibes. Always a good thing.

It's an eclectic anthology which gives you meatier chunks per issue compared to something like a Dark Horse presents. I've really enjoyed some of the interstitial pieces too

Read through Plutona this morning, quickly realised how little I actually knew about the book hah. I guess I just saw Lemire & Lennox and filed it away as buy. I had saw ET & Stand By Me banded around as comparison points, but I was totally unaware of the
superhero
element. Anyway, I really liked it. There is the *thing* the kids find and that concerns them for most of the plot and that's fun in it's own right, but obviously the story is very coming of age and all about the subtext of the different kids and the different backgrounds and home circumstances they are living under, and upturning who you might except to act certain ways when put in an exceptional situation like the one presented in the book.
Teddy being from what seems to be the most settled background and totally losing his shit; Ray being a total jerk but not that bad underneath, yet the interplay between the two driving each other to different decision points
. Just how fucking mean and uncaring teenagers can be to each other when they're all in the same boat really. I love stories like this, and thought it was great. I remember some complaints about the length of the series/pacing but at least reading as a trade, I thought it was spot on, and left off at the perfect point. It says somethings definitively, but also leaves some stuff for the reader to interpret and think about. I don't think it'll go down as my favourite Lemire book or anything, but I enjoyed it better than Trillium for example, and Lennox's art is lovely. Good stuff.

Just started reading Bombshells and the first issue (the print version) was fine, if a little insipid and questionable panels. When I got to issue 2 it wasn't displaying correctly. It was in landscape mode. Looking at comixology it seems the single issues are all like this but no the TP. Is that right?

That's right. That's how DC does all their Digital First titles.

I understand :(. Please remember the book in the future. Also Death Vigil if you forgot.

I cleared out my image backlog on Comixology. A task I never thought possible.

I don't think reading it all at once helped at all. That might have just made it worse.

Sounds like you would have just been better not reading it at all (I am guessing you were one of the posts I remember? I know it was recently but not who or specifically what). I liked it. Read perfectly fine for me as a story, obviously I can only comment in terms of reading it like an ogn and not a monthly thing but I enjoyed it

Probably. I think that goes for everything Lemire writes outside of Black Hammer.

I definitely still see him as a definite pick up, above Remender as a rough gauge point, but I'm slowly forgetting that he'll outdo Sweet Tooth and he's settled in my slightly lower rung of favoured writers. I like Descender though, and yet to check out Black Hammer. His stories don't always light the world on fire, but I think he gets people and has something to say about them. The further he gets from that, the ropier, Imo.

Got them on my wishlist.

Think I might do more sale waiting when it comes to image titles.
