iOS Gaming November 2016 | Apple unbinds Isaac

Is there any way to see upcoming games on the shop, aside from Mario?

There's one called 18 Dream World that's out in Japan and looks like some match 3 with Persona-style art, but I'd like to be able to read it. Their site just says coming soon on iOS, but it's out on Android here already.

Is there any Infinity Blade game worth playing out of... 3 i think?

All of them are if you like the concept. Three is the best and longest but you won't get much of the story. That said, to really understand the story you have to read the books too. I haven't and still don't get a lot of it, but the gameplay is fun enough to enjoy on its own. Not to mention the graphics.

No, Mario is the first game to do that and you can probably guess why. I don't think we'll see that for a lot of games.

I never thought I could do it.

But I did it.

I beat Solitairica last night, and I only died once.

The Monk is beast. My favorite deck, by far, and now I'm going to try and beat it with the Rogue.

To those who say the game is unfair, it's really not. My mother plays Solitaire every single day for at least an hour, and there will be times where she goes several months without winning (but will come close). Some of the enemies can have the odds stacked SEVERELY against you (ex: I had a guy who could have cards appear as armored, frozen, poisoned, enraged, AND on fire, on top of being able to mirror my attacks and heal himself 7 cards at a time), but it's all just in the luck of the draw, and proper ability use. I beat the game with base abilities, only purchasing the attack ability that kills three cards in a column at once, until the end. I spent my coins on items and two hourglasses, and at the end I bought the ability that converts defense into agility points, as well as two items granting me 6 shields at the start of the match, allowing me to stack my shields and turn them into agility thereby being able to essentially spam the Monk's amazing wild card ability. I just barely made it through the final gauntlet, but man did it feel satisfying. The last three enemies before Stuck are insane!

Congrats! The only class I've been able to beat it with is Monk, too. I came close with the Paladin but got stopped two away from Stuck.

Updated that "I need a puzzle game for my iPhone" thread with another meaty list, if anyone was interested. Most here will probably recognize most of the games, but hey you never know

Good stuff m_b.

Do we know if gaf member Ouren is working on both the vita and iPad ports for Valhalla or just vita? Who is doing the iPad one? I need it on portable before the year is up.

Just a heads up. Deliveries by Junecloud is the best package tracker app for iOS (and macOS) and is super useful on BF.

Playing Deus Ex GO and i absolutely love it. Just like Lara Croft GO and Hitman GO game is so much fun. Challenging but just enough to be fun and not frustrating. I also love the art style and audio of the game.
SE is doing fantastic job with these GO games.

Yeah they really are great adaptations of the franchises on Mobile. Hit man GO was sublime.

Was the Uncharted game similar? Completely ignored it because I'm not the biggest fan of the Drake

Is Final Fantasy Mobius one of the better Final Fantasy on Mobile, that doesn't include the ports of the main series?

If you ask me, the only "better" Final Fantasy on mobile that isn't a port is Final Fantasy Dimensions. All the others are just social F2P crap. In fact, I was sadly disappointed to hear that Final Fantasy Dimensions 2 will not be a sequel but instead will be just like the social F2P games instead.

Dimensions is the only one with the Final Fantasy name, but if you're looking for Square Enid quality in a JRPG, I'd highly recommend the Chaos Rings series. Chaos Rings 3 in particular is a huge game -- probably 80 hours (I haven't come close to finishing it) -- and one of the best in the genre on mobile.

Interesting, thanks for the reply.

Also what exactly is a social f2p?

Well, they call them "social" because they usually have friends with PVP and other forms of communication. Not really sure of the true definition of it. Shaun Musgrave who reviews RPGs for Touch Arcade has thrown the term around when referring to Final Fantasy Record Keeper, Brave Exvious, Mobius Final Fantasy and the upcoming Dimensions sequel (amongst the many non-Square Enix RPGs).

For me, it's clear F2P aspects of those type of games that turns me away - timers, multiple types of currency, dally login awards and a general push towards IAPs.

I much prefer the premium model overall, but definitely in the JRPG area.

I bought Little Briar Rose a few days ago. I thought the art style and 4+ age rating would appeal to my five-year-old son (and it did), but was turned off by the poor writing, clumsy puzzles, and lack of a coherent world setting. I got the feeling that the game was localized and not very well so.

The frame rate was also choppy at times on my ipad air 2.

I may put some more time into it later, but it was not a game I could recommend to...well, anyone looking for something outside of a visually pretty experience.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney IV is coming out on December 1.

Hmm, Lumines Vs should also release soon since its planned release is Holiday 2016.

Not sure if these will be replicated on iOS as they seem to be part of a "cyber week" sale Google Play, but posting for those who are dual owners. There's more than this but thought these were the best so far:

This War of Mine $2.99
KOTOR $2.99
Lego Jurassic World $.99
Riptide GP: Renegade $.99
Final Fantasy Tactics: WoTL $3.99 (think this is by far the cheapest I've ever seen on either platform)
Never Alone $.99

Maybe these will hit iOS too.

$3.99 nice. But buy at your own risk. Squenix hasn't updated it since June of 2013 - like back in iOS7. LOL.
While that may be concerning, I am happy to report it plays great on my iPad Air 2 running 10.1.1. Who knows if the next iOS update will break it and if SE will fix it, but it's solid right now.

All 3 GO (Lara Croft, Deus Ex, Hitman) games discounted to 0.99$ on Android. Can we expect the same on App Store?
Would buy Lara Croft on iPhone too.

Probably. Sales keep rolling in on Android (The Room Three is also now among them for $.99).

Since not much has popped up yet on iOS, maybe Apple is coordinating a Black Friday type sale and they'll come later this week.

I am BEYOND happy that SteamWorld Heist has made its way to iOS. You're doing yourself a HUGE disservice if you don't buy it on at least 1 platform!

Now, just waiting for that Invisible, INC universal update.

Also, long time no see guys!

hot hot hanuman-on-man action

Hey, good month to pop up too! I still got my fingers crossed that Binding of Isaac is coming this month, but I think December is at least definite. I imagine they'll want the game before the App Store lockdown

And yeah Steamworld Heist is perfect for mobile

===

hey, btw, jon bones, did you get to check out the Twilight Histories member stuff?

So what big games do we expect for the remainder of the year?

Apollo Justice: Phoenix Wright IV, Super Mario Run, Lumines Vs and Binding of Isaac?

Super Mario and Binding of Isaac is all my heart (and my commute) needs. I just hope they let me stream my podcasts in the background while I play. When games don't take over that audio I can game on iOS for hours on end.

Some hardcore history and Super Mario Run? Yes Plz.

Might want to be careful if you plan on getting Final Fantasy Tactics. Sounds like, at least newer iPhones, it has issues. I have it and might redownload it in my 6S+ just to see how it works.

I know it's a classic and all but I never could get into it. Too complex and difficult for my tastes. Again, I use games like Banner Saga and Deathwatch as benchmarks for tactical RPGs. That's about as complex as I get (and those certainly are not anywhere near FFT).

It was an accidental sale, they upped the price right away but it took a while to show up on the App Store.

Opps....

Love how PG updated their article while it looks like TA just deleted theirs. Way to service readers who probably wondered what happened.

Awfully quite in this thread. Still not many BF deals on the App Store. Nothing releasing today interests me.

But I've spent quite a bit on console games lately so that's probably a good thing.

Thanksgiving week. I imagine quite a few people are traveling or getting ready for tomorrow

And no major releases this week either

Is Heroes of Loot 2 good? It's on sale for $0.99.

I tried a demo of the first game on Android and it seemed a little simple, but maybe the second game is a bit deeper (or the first game is too, but I didn't get far enough in it).

It decent, it's basically the first game with some new enemies and loot. If you haven't tried it though, may I suggest Crypt of the Necrodancer instead? It's a lot like HoL but turned based and much more depth to it.

Besides BoI and SMR Its looking like the rest of this year might be just as quiet. Early part of 2017 looks packed with good releases though.

Do you guys game exclusively on iPads, or iPhones as well?

I have a 7 Plus and was considering looking into the gaming scene.
