FFXV copies out in the wild (street date broken in Peru, possibly elsewhere)

The good kind.

Oh yeahhhh ! So excited to picked that up. I've pre-ordered too the Strategy guide, but only because it would get me the same amount as the game if I was buying it full price (got FFXV for 57$ CAN + 29$ for strategy, normally a game in canada with taxes is like 90$)

Eh...you sure about that? Not trying to start something!

Depends on what matters to you. I want high stakes and I got just that. A lot seemed to happen very quickly.

I don't want to talk more about it since I've only seen that and a few key parts right after. I'll try my best to not go back in that thread lol

Man, waiting 10 years and then spoiling yourself a week before the game releases just sounds depressing. As much as I want to know what people are supposedly freaking out about, I'd rather wait a little more.

Seriously. 10 years and then spoiling maybe half of the game...

I lost most of my hype long ago, but still avoiding the spoilers.

Sorry thought you were speaking of something else in the thread!
Ah gotcha.

I'm really surprised that digital downloads are activating. I thought that they would for sure stay locked til release!

Uhhhh what is this about digital download codes and where can I get one?
I am sure there is not a case like that and when Kagari was talking about codes, she was specifically talking about review codes. Unless there is some PR person who has sold digital review codes for FFXV, I doubt anyone can download it through some voucher.

A poster said east coast whatever that means. I assume somewhere where street dates are broken. Keep in mind its still only one GAFer who has said this and they haven't came back to the topic yet with any further clarification. So right now I'd say there is no point in spending your night hunting online. If it were codes being sold via stores that are selling physical copies I would have expected to have seen a flood of them on Ebay at 2~3x the retail price by now. So chalk this digital code chat up to a rumour for now.

A mod Kagari simply corrected my misinformation about codes not being redeemable before launch. This wasn't confirmation of anything to do with FF15.

Ah okay. I thought I'd missed some retailer snafu sending out download codes way early.

Is the day 1 patch downloadable for people with early copies?

A 7.4GB (or 7.2 as stated above) patch is downloadable but no one knows if it's the day 1 patch. Makes sense it is but its Square, there is probably a day 0 patch and then an actual day 1 patch which will be rolled together on launch day.

Apparently it is the day 1, patch notes showed up. Then again like you said it's S-E.

Heh. The atmosphere certainly is something. I wish I could muster the same kind of excitement I got when I was still a teen waiting for Final Fantasy 8 to be released and was overjoyed when my parents bought me the game (after Final Fantasy 7, I was hooked). I feel like this kind of sentiment is present on GAF right now, the kind of magic feeling born from anticipation, whereas I am just jaded from years of disappointment.

I think I may be jealous of you guys. I certainly hope the wait was worth it. I will buy this game next year when everything has calmed down, and I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

I'm pretty certain it will be too, but I just imagined Square hunkered down working on the day 1 patch till like 48 hours before release then begging Sony to rifle it through Q&A. Chances are we will get more patches within 1~2 weeks of launch.

There's no way I believe that people aren't going to find a ton of ways to break things, or break the whole game within hours of it going out to millions lol.

Well they said they want a 1080/60fps patch in December, so that's one at least. I assume bug fixes too.

I honestly had/have 0 faith in Tabata, but GAF got me super excited. I wouldn't be shocked if I hated the game, but I seriously hope it's as good as the previews are claiming it to be.

Depending on how iffy performance is overall at launch, on the original PS4 and Pro I'd honestly not take that 60FPS patch ETA as anything other than a maybe. I can honestly see a slew of bugs or other broken things get in the way and them need longer to even try and get 1080/60 working consistently on Pro.

It's why it's not going to put me off jumping in day 1. I'll take whatever res bump Pro offers as some extra eye candy.

In reality I think if it was a simple case of scaling things around they'd be able to do 1080/60 for the Pro in the launch day patch.

I'm not majorly excited or anything, just cautiously optimistic. A few years ago I couldn't wait to put my hands on the game, but the waiting game and all the skepticism that came with it certainly put a damper on my excitement.
My disappointment with the last few entries don't affect my expectations for this one though. Different director and team, entirely different design philosophy, FF entries are vastly different from one another, etc.

I'm pretty sure I'll be done with the game by the time it's out. I don't have to work so once it's out I'm just gonna 100% it then give the pro to my cousin so I'm not waiting for that. I'll get my 60+fps fix from whenever the PC version comes out.

It's modern day Square, "half" the game will have been cut away to get done as DLC. There will be content to play down the months :P

Judging from what Tabata has said about the day 1 patch content, I do believe this is the 'day 1' patch but there could be always a 'day 2' patch.

Yeah but all that content will just be included in the PC version anyway and I'm not buying a season pass so it's all the same to me.

BTW, if anyone is interested, someone posted the trophy list in the spoiler thread, here's the link to the single post. Be careful not to open the thread (I don't know what's in there, I got the link from an external website). BTW there's nothing really interesting to see.

True! But cmon, surely you want to spend like $40 for content you have no idea will be like and have no idea when it's coming out! :P

Season passes <3

Hi, cousin!

Wonder how those boats are faring now. Haha.

Me neither :/
But if people want story, it seems to pick up extremely quickly.

What I saw though was incredible. Not the plot details necessarily, but the scale and upping the ante. It was such a pleasant surprise that I had to swear off of spoilers again. If the rest of the surprises the game has in store are this good, I don't want even one more spoiled for me.

deluxe edition worth it? still deciding.
Can't say. The track record for FF DLCs isn't exactly stellar so I guess we will find out soon enough.

The day one patch is 7.4 GB? lmao
The full game is around 46 GB and Blu-ray has limit of 50 GB so... put two and two together.

Basically the patch adds CG scenes from Kingsglaive for those who haven't seen the movie, so like added context to some of the story.

.

I see, I just thought it was funny considering they said the last delay was so the final launch version didn't have some big day one update.

At this point I think we are best just to summarize it as the delay was done so the launch version wasn't a piece of broken shit.

It might actually be possible to play the game on the disc from start to finish without the 7.2GB patch :P

Lmfao, I'm watching this twitch guy fight a behemoth and he doesn't know what to do even when the game CLEARLY TELLS HIM WHAT TO DO. This.....This is why the game will get bad scores. Players who just suck at combat and following directions tbh

Ummm... Reviewers are usually better players. That is why Bloodborne/Dark Souls get high scores :P
