Downloaded the demo today, spent most of the time running around to markers on the map and doing a few quests until the demo ended. Hard to know what to do as it's in Japanese, but I had fun regardless.

So apparently I have no willpower and I dipped into the judgment demo a bit over the weekend. Loving what I've played of it and can't wait for it to come out.

One minor glitch that really bothered me, more in that it feels like something they could have easily addressed, is the fact that if you pause when talking to an NPC the dialogue goes out of sync. The more you pause in a single scene, the more out of sync it goes. I know it's minor, but surely QA would have noticed this.

The second gif looks glorious. Love that walking animation.

Why the fuck your so good? Those are easily the best gif this game had.

Oh man, I really hope there's a snowy/ice region in the game. I want miles and miles of that weather!

Random bold prediction: there will be no snow zone in the vanilla game but we will get a moderately-sized one via Episode Prompto since there's apparently a snowmobile in there.

Okay. It's been a long ten years but I have officially reached the point of utter absurdity re: this game.

I am staring at that "XV Days To Go" GIF and the animation has perfectly timed itself to the beat for the Hunt Battle Theme. I am having a hard time pulling away from this GIF and going back to work.

I want this game.

This game has already shown areas where it will be great such as visuals and soundtrack so it really is on the story as gameplay has been positive in recent impression. Can't wait to play this game in 3 weeks and a bit.

Are you the guy who posted about not being able to sleep? This was when we had all the uncertainty of 4chan rumors questioning the game was like 2 hours complete?

If so, I'm right there with ya man, I understand.

Daaaaam! At first glance look like Omen trailer scenes.

The light on Noctis' hair in the second gif makes it really believable. Like he belongs in that world and isn't just a random character you are in control of.

Everytime I use magic I pretty much fuck up all my teammates myself included most of the time. XD

Is there a way to avoid that? I dont think friendly fire should happen lol

Me too. I hope there's a learnable skill to reduce or eliminate friendly fire. Otherwise I can't see myself using magic except when necessary.

The amount of cool Link Strike screenshots, vistas and Prompto pictures is going to be insane when the full game hits. Already seeing plenty of impressive things even in such a limited environment.

I'm gonna try this now! The hunt battle theme is incredible. I love how it sounds modern at the start, not dissimilar to some Metal Gear Solid tracks, then it builds up, de-escalates, repeats this pattern and at 0:47 the first epic piano part kicks in. At 1:26 it reaches full magnificence with more epic piano. Just....aaahhhhhh what a track.

Sunhi's gifs are beautiful too. I'm SO ready for this. I still look forward to review impressions, but am already sold on the music, combat, art direction and main cast.

Has anyone played this game on good 4K/1080p tv with true HDR support?
How does it look?

I am wondering this myself.

I dumped about 2.5 hrs into the demo before finally ending, and I didn't even explore that much. I'll play again, this time with exploration first as a mindset.

Digital Foundry has confirmed the game runs at 1800p on PS4 Pro. From the NXGamer thread, the blur is because of a stronger implementation of TAA and Motion Blur otherwise the pixel count indicates an 1800p resolution with improved visual effects to boot.

OK so I've got a timeline question. Kingsglaive spoilers follow.
While Noctis is in Leide (in this demo), he's still close enough to Insomnia to see the skyline. Wouldn't he, uh, notice the city on fire and being ripped apart by kaiju in his absence?? The city still looks calm. Or am I to believe the entire plot of Kingsglave happened on the way to Galdin Quay

Ha! I may have been. I... probably was. xD We're almost to the end of the journey. Crazy stuff.

Yesss. This is a great description of the hunt theme. I was definitely thinking "MGS" at first and "epic operatic" as it goes on. It's so good.

I dont understand complaints about open world.

The demo has a very organized roughly "Y" shaped map with hammerhead at the center and othet locations at the tips.

Its very easy to navigate & varied enough. It sets the mood and creats a more immersive world. They put so much effort into making this thing.

The level design is substantially superior to the XIII series. No body wants a return to simplistic brain dead level design.

The city is destroyed in one night, presumably it happens when he goes to sleep in Galdin Quay and learns about it the next morning.

I think there's a bit of a suspension of disbelief here. (inc. lorelol post) No spoiler tags because I'm discussing the game only, but do re-spoiler if the discussion goes back towards KG.

Firstly, despite it's huge size I don't feel that the distances in FFXV 'the game' are representative of FFXV 'the canon'. It doesn't take 30 minutes (pulling this figure out of my ass, going by the rough size of the world map shown) by boat to go from one capital of one country to another (Insomnia -> Altissia). So, despite that it's large enough to convey the sense of a road trip, I think there's a little bit of an abstraction for game/resource purposes.

Secondly, there's the whole aspect of player agency. For some people, hearing Luna's speech on radio while driving, to encountering Ardyn at the port, to finding out about the invasion could be the next morning, For others, it could be the next week, depending how much you explore and how many days go by signified by you camping.

I think it's easiest, like all games, to accept that there's a canon canon, and a personalized retelling inherent to each individual's playthrough that pushes suspension of disbelief somewhat.

Another quick example off top of head of a gameification of canon: Party in FF7 sets out to stop Meteor, clock is ticking, takes 2 weeks (using tents, etc) to farm up Magic Pots in the meantime in Northern Crater.

Well damn, quite the explanation.
