Final Fantasy XV Judgment Disc demo out now on JPSN & JP Xbox Store

How easy is this to get into as a total newcomer who's never really played a FF game before. I'm drawn to it because the world look so bloody nice to explore!

Pretty easy. The game is targeted to newcomers and fans alike. All FF are different from one other except for ones that have a direct sequel (X-2), and some share worlds. FFXV is its own thing.

Everytime I use magic I pretty much fuck up all my teammates myself included most of the time. XD

Is there a way to avoid that? I dont think friendly fire should happen lol

Many people, including me, won't care that it isn't in the spirit of the road trip, if it is just super inconvenient. Imagine you are after a tough dungeon or mob hunt like 2k metres away from your car and you just want to fast travel to the next town. You first have to run all the way to your car and then have to be auto driven (which isn't fast at all) or pay. Also, what if your tank is depleted? What if it's in the middle of the night and two high level golems have decided to spawn directly in front of your car and you can't even get in? This will all be fun the first time, but not after half a dozen times. ;)

I personally think this is a good design, at least in theory. I feel that instant travel anywhere in a world breaks the immersion, as well as the feeling that the world is vast and that you have consequences because of that. I feel that fast travel is a crutch to having too big of a world.

I'm personally of the camp of Dark Souls fans that doesn't like the fast travel design they added to Dark Souls in late game, and in the later games in the series. It's of course a hot topic, as some people hate the design of having to work your way to bosses and other places, but I feel that sometimes having limitations actually adds to gameplay.

But that's just me. Personally, the situation you described sounds like an intense, exciting experience that I would enjoy. Some of my favorite moments in games were when I barely made it to a boss or a tough area, with barely any healing items, and scraped through on the hair on my nose.

Eh, to each his (or her) own.

Sounds like resource management that is typical of many old school rpgs.

Sign me up.

Alright, you all love it, I get it. XD
Well, let's see if it will annoy me as much as I think it potentially could. Maybe it turns out to be a non-issue. Warping directly to the car is actually a great help though. I didn't know about that before.

One thing I keep thinking is that the car pushing intro would have been a lot better as a montage of the surrounding area with focus on the boys, Stand by Me playing in the background and ending with the logo. As much as I can appreciate the current idea it came off as somewhat awkward.

Seems they're trying to find a workable compromise that will mostly avoid world-warp-itis without being too annoying for those more used to the Bethesda open world warp freedom.

We'll see how well they've struck it....

Finally did the flan mob hunt, so I think I'm done with the demo now. It remains to be seen if the full game has enough variety to make me do all the side quests, but if it does, it will definitely take lot of my time.

Right now my biggest annoyance with the demo was how there didn't seem to be any way to speed up time to get to a night phase. I had to just stand around for 20 minutes in order for the in-game clock to go for night, so I could actually battle some of the hunts.

No option to camp until night?

This game is just gorgeous in motion...

Yep, the game looks great in any version. The Pro version is imo the most beautiful open-world game on console so far.
And we've been just to the desert and haven't seen what the real highlights like Duscae and Altissia will look like on it.

Yah that is stupid.

Actually I just created a JPN account because I'm worried I won't like the game. I'm sure I will buy it just because it is FFXV, but I could spend the $80cdn on something else that is more deserving if I simply won't enjoy the game.

Agreed...Duscae, and pretty much any other area, look better than the opening area to me.

I loved the Demo (I've put 10 hours in it)

I will list some of the minor negative/concerns (some which might be patched and ready when the game launches on Nov 29 th)

*No SFX when picking up loot, picking herbs, items, weapons (*any chime or SFX would have been welcomed)

*No, treasure boxes, crates or anything to represent loot being found (think dragons dogma)
all we get a shiny blue light :(

*Lack of interactive environment, except for grass burning, I would have loved to see some of the trees or bushes (that get on the way) be destroyed, barrels or crates being destroyed to find loot.

*Glitchy back attack link strikes make NPC pop up on screen-they should add a nyx like teleport effect instead of just poping up.

*I wish the Radio music could be turned up-as of now I can hear the engine of the car, more than the radio music.

*Some hunts are only done at night right? - they needed to add an option to camp/rest till night time or morning time.

*Invisible walls everywhere, see that mountain up there let's go climb it ( no, you can't)
Let's take a dive at the beach? no swimming, okay how about climbing this latter?
- nope- well, yes, but only the one we decided for you to climb on---...okay -_-;
May I open the door to the shack located in the middle of nowhere, where my instincts tell me I will find a treasure box inside?
Nope it's just there for deco, sorry.

*enemy pop up right in your face, seriously those dogs keep trolling me- was this intentional or is there a glitch on the draw distance?

*I wish I could scroll the photos promoto takes during camp with a simple L1, R1 option
but now, you have to exit full screen, and select the next, than zoom in again. :(

I wanted to add magic cons, but I'm not sure yet how I feel about it,
I guess I wish there was a separate 4 slots to equip magic spells, but I'll wait to test it a bit more.

Note: It's funny how some areas are way more polished than others,
I loved that hunters town area, they had an interactive latter for you to climb on, and get a hidden item, take a look at the scenery, even prompto snap a pic there,
also they had a mini game of darts, two shops, and a hidden item that require you to platform jump from a trash can to a roof of a building.
^ This the kinda design that I enjoyed most of the demo.

Found a lvl 29 Scorpion to kill. Combat still doesn't feel difficult (I know it's on easy) but at least it felt a little more engaging

Edit: I'm interested in how much they left out of the demo, the map is huge but it's so empty. Mostly feels like pointless space
