Final Fantasy XV Judgment Disc demo out now on JPSN & JP Xbox Store

Played it for an hour and a half. I could understand bits and pieces of the language but my 300 or so kanji that I know aren't nearly enough and we don't practice listening comprehension much on college. Very humbling for a one year student of Japanese.

Love the combat. No, REALLY love the combat. I detest the "hold attack for awesome" part but I am tapping circle and it works just fine that way.

Haven't intricately played with much of the system offered because I want to save it for the full version. No complains on the graphics (although the water was pitch black due to a weird glitch). Definitely none for the music.

I have to say, when I got the car running, I have become a firm believer of the whole "road trip" concept. It really felt like that. Especially with the radio, the view, etc. Can't wait for more.

Playing the demo on xbox one right now and holy cow this game is polished. I can't believe they pulled it off. It looks great and its smooth as butter. So excited for two weeks from now.

Also, this feels less spoilery since I have no idea what the heck theyre saying.

Props to Square-Enix. I was a naysayer after duscae and the platinum demo on PS4 and now playing it on Xbox One (which i hear is the worst version * [minus framerate]) I cant believe how well they pulled it off.

Wouldn't recommend that. Sprinting is very much a thing during battles as well, and is quite helpful, especially against iron giant's magnet move.
I have Attack on R1, though! I honestly think my scheme is pretty much perfect now. Will make playing much more convenient.

EDIT: Ah, now I see what you mean. Attack can obviously only be used to sprint outside of battles. Hmmm. Back to the drawing board :D

EDIT2: Updated version #2:

EDIT3: Okay, nah, I think sprinting isn't important enough to swap with jumping for battles. Will put Sprint on X for the few cases where you need it.

So, version #3 (maybe not the last, lol):
Code:
Phase (hold) / Roll-dodge	= L1
Attack / Sprint (hold)	   	= R1
Jump 				= L2
Warp				= R2
Summon				= L3
Lock on				= R3
Techniques			= Triangle
Tactical / Chocobo		= Square
Sprint	                        = X
Map				= Circle

Nah, it was something shown off by one of the game designers.

I timestamped the part showing moving characters an the DATABASE section in the menu.

I see. There's probably a bestiary section in there.

I'm also hoping that they have something that tells you what all the character stats mean and what the various types of damage are exactly, things like CRUSH for example. All I know is that you can knock enemies down sometimes with CRUSH attacks but there's probably more to it.

I give up. The Bandersnatch is absolutely glitched for me.

I've tried completing every quest step up to turning the gathered item into Dino where the demo ends.
I've tried unlocking more of the Astralsphere and leveling up the party.
I've tried wandering the map collecting all the "treasures."
I've tried sleeping at different campsites/RVs/Motels and returning to the grotto at least 20 times now.

Every single time there's just a single Level 2 wolf creature there, like the game has a table of enemies to spawn and it's grabbing the wrong one, or something.
And after I kill that lone wolf, the party stays crouched and "ready" and the music stays tense and ominous like there's supposed to be something more there.

This game is going to absolutely consume me, though. I know that now.
This is a trimmed down demo of only the very first handful of quests in the game and their surrounding area and I've got 8 hours of playtime.

Hopefully Square has textures with higher resolution prepared when it patches the game for Pro, those screens look great but when you start looking close there's a lot of low res texturing going on.

I think you've got a little bit of an unrealistic expectation
They were expecting this:

But got this instead:

Btw, Falk, what do you think of my control scheme above? Should be good to go now, no?

Also I figured I'd post the dagger stuff I found.

Daggers----------

O - Your basic bread and butter combo. Does a lot of hits and attacks fairly fast. Last attack is a crush I believe.

Delay O - after stepping back move in for a cross slash, counts as a crush attack.

Forward O - Forward thrusting attack with both daggers. This is good for closing the distance if an enemy has moved outside of your attack range during a combo.

Side O - This is probably what makes the daggers really good for offensive evading, even more so than the one handed sword's backflip because it's so fast. By holding left or right you will do a quick dash around the enemy in that direction, thing is is that these short dashes can be chained together, allowing you to quickly reposition and flank an enemy mid combo. It also has iframes so it can be used to avoid attacks and keep up your assault. After evading attack again for a crush attack and then follow up with a normal combo.

Back O - Step back while throwing both your daggers at the enemy. This attack seems to have iframes but the timing is a little bit more strict. Follow up with forward O to get back in.

Aerial O - a descending flurry of attacks. The hits come out faster than your ground combo and since you fall while doing it you can immediately chain it into a ground combo when you land.

Warp Strike + O - First attack after a warp strike is a crush attack.

All in all the dagger is really good for getting in fast damage with the ability to evade and rapidly re position behind enemies. It's air game isn't that great but I guess that's when you probably want to switch over to something like the one handed sword.

I assume you also tried going there at different times of the day?

That doesn't help. Only way is to start new game. That's what I did, I loaded a new game just to fight him and he was there immdeiately after resting at a camp.

Kind of weird how that happened. Hopefully it's fixed in the final version.

I didn't find the boss too, I thought I went there at the wrong time (around 12:00 if I'm not mistaken)... I only went back to check a couple of times, so I'm not sure it's bugged.

It would be an irritating bug... what would cause it anyway? A wrong flag?

its safe to create a JPSN account on my PS4 that has my other main US account? I just switch users right? I just don't want to get my US account banned somehow.

It's perfectly safe to do, you're going to need a second email address however, you can't use the one linked to your US account.

forward O sounds like similar to dash stab attack from blade of mercy :D

What is exactly does delay O mean for input?

Just played the tutorial and started Chapter 1 on PS4 Pro. This game looks bonkers, unbelieveable.

Cannot say much about combat, I never played FF before.

Anybody knows where I can find
bioblaster or whatever
? I kinda wanna try it out

Also, what with FF15 demos and me spending hours on them? I spent over 30 actual hours in Episode Duscae for example. And my playtime in this one is already well over 7 hours. There are some full games I don't play for this long...
