Final Fantasy XV Judgment Disc demo out now on JPSN & JP Xbox Store

I'm curious if that brief CG clip from Kingsglaive is in the final game. It felt to quick to hold any meaningful impact.

Yeah it was just really odd. There was no context around it (from what I could understand) and it was so quick. They should just play out that entire scene with Regis and Ideolas up to where they capture the crystal.

Listened to all the OST tracks from the judgemen disc demo.

My god the chapter 0 track is like one of the best ever...literally.

And the main battle theme OMG...field theme is nice too.

Apart from that it was mostly meh for me...hopefully sounds better with the game playing. Think I will end up preferring XIII's soundtrack in the end.

Lot's of positives to take from playing this demo.

However, the opening does suck. It lacks impact and is quite underwhelming. I hope there's more to it in the final game.

Was wondering where the daytime Episode Duscae battle theme went, but if you train with Gladiolus at any campground it'll play.

Wait, there's a junction system?

I think they mean how it's like Draw.

You gather magic from various points on the map (usually around camps) but its very fast and you can store up to 99 of each spell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgqO96oIBHw Supposedly all three mixed together here. No idea how it works, but there's seem to be some randomness to it.
It does seem like there's no set effect for mixed elements. Even so, it's nice to know it works.

Yea if you look at the pgw(I think) gameplay video they do a fire+Thunder spell it looked amazing like bursts of fire and lightning everywhere.

Also keep in mind the weather affects your magic as well.
It does? Nice. By the way, when you use a spell like a thunder or ice one, the surroundings change color. Is that considered as a change in weather or is it just an aesthetic thing?

When it's raining the lingering fire will burn out faster, when using blizzard in a pond it'll freeze the water and sometimes even the enemies completely. The environment plays a part in magic, using lightning in an area where it can be conducted can be both a blessing and a curse for ya team. Oil drums or the magitek armors oil can be burned to cause bigger explosions

As for your question that seems like just a small added affect. Not really changing the weather as it goes away after a short while

Oh I am fine with that, what I hated most in FFVIII was equipping magic and if you used the spells , your stats that were equipped with that magic spell would get less :X

So I ended up using only Aura when I played FFVIII XD.

Is the night theme still in the game? I love the Night theme!

That one generally plays when fighting Niflheim army.

obviously the first half of Ch1 is before the party learns things have gone to complete shit and Niflheim starts showing up all over

At first I didn't care too much for the game, the combat felt cumbersome and unresponsive but it has grown on me.
Having a jrpg with a open world to run around in with realtime action combat is pretty fun.
Though I still wish the animation didn't have such a huge priority, it does feel quite sluggish.

I could really go for something similar, does anybody know of any games that are similar to FF XV?

DEVIL MAY CRY

Can't wait to pick this up.

It's not like dmc at all! Don't expect that going in, and don't expect to be getting that kind of fluidity when battling. You need to be really into the battle and know what your doing to be able to dodge that well.

I'm sorry to be that guy I can't let this happen.

This isn't Devil May Cry.

That pretty close in camera is virtually unplayable in 99%¨of other situations in the game because it gets stuck on everything else, trees, rocks, partners, other enemies, it's impossible to see attacks coming from other enemies while in that mode, and there is no toggle in game you have to go in the options.

On top of that, the combos are mostly automated, safe for some directional inputs, this isn't kingdom hearts.

It's an RPG twist with action like animation but I have to set your expectations right.

If you expect this to be DMC this is gonna feel like the worst game ever.

I know because I expected it to be KH2 final mix and ... yeah. Go in with a fresh mind, those animations are just eye candy, not really representative of what you're doing.

There are combos in the full game, based off weapon switching, air dancing, and some button press timing (two presses, wait, press third time etc...) but once again, go in with a fresh mind.

Tbh I played the entire demo (all 8 hours I played) with that close camera. I found the normal camera went too far out when fighting large enemies. The only real issue I got was with large enemies due to the camera going in weird angles, but that was fixable when I locked onto their legs rather than heads.

I didn't have an issue with group control either. I used the mini-map if I ever needed to regain my bar rings and I was constantly locked on to enemies (its the way I play) so getting the cam stuck was never an issue. :P

anyone with the bravia XD80 series tried hdr? its way overexposed on my tv, like super bright/white tried the ingame brightness settings but its still too bright, contrast is too high

anyone can confirm this for me?

Yeah the weather and location effect magic. Check this out https://youtu.be/q_deEcxb5v4?t=5m3s because they used blizzard the water froze which completely froze the enemy as well.

I tried going to this area, it's blocked off due to the demo restriction. Something doesn't add up.

I think it is some sort of glitch you can do.

There is also a (mine shaft?) dungeon that you can get to via an elevator in a cave and that is blocked off as well.

Probably the game FFXV reminds me the most of in general feel and atmosphere is Xenoblade Chronicles. They play differently but that's the game I kept thinking of as I explored the world in the demo.

So despite my annoyance with the difficulty lock I went ahead and downloaded this. Reseting my account password in Japanese was certainly interesting.

Game looks quite good on peasantPS4, other than LOD being bad on distant rocks.

Framerate is also pretty stable, although there's still some dips here and there that can be annoying. I wonder if this is final build or there will be a little more ironing done with the framerate on retail.

Lol xD

I agree it looks great. No reason for me to upgrade unless TLG looks vastly improved on Pro.

Unfortunately that's all there is to it.

Isn't there an additional low-key video that sort of goes over the general setting/world of the game? Unless I'm imagining things.

Anyway, it's a pretty lame opening. I understand they didn't want to spend the resources of doing a full blown-out mega setpiece in the style of Versus XIII, but there are better ways of introducing people to this game. And no, an extraneous anime and a CG movie do not count. Could've started with Noctis in his royal bedchamber, waking up from a prophetic/omen/fever dream, which would be done in the classic style of a lavish FF CGI opening movie. Maybe even similar to that Omen trailer. You'd have limited access to roaming around the royal palace. You go to your daily morning training session with Gladio to start the tutorial, and then you're informed that your father is calling of you. You search for your buds inside the palace, each encounter serving as an introduction to each one of them, and then all four of you walk to the throne room. Nothing fancy, but something better than this shit. Maybe an extended CG movie later of the blackmagic boys actually driving in the car, from the palace to the countryside, showcasing the game's world, and actually show the friggin' car breaking down.

Eh.

Eh. I really don't care about the opening. It seems like it's more a tease than anything. This game has always been billed more about the journey than anything. Don't expect the final game to be anything different in regards to the opening.

oh nice.

I've always considered that to be the unofficial battle theme when fighting Nifheim soldiers but now that its the main theme for that, I'm glad xD

This has probably been asked a thousand times but has anyone translated the options screen and is there anything Pro related?

So many were complaining about the water of Galdin Quay, but I think it looks really pretty. Noctis loved it:

Yikes. Sounds like they lost a valuable team member then, who took over, then? Somebody not as good?

The way I understand it, a lot of Nomura's top guys left when he left.

I would so love to see a postmortem on Versus/XV, complete with office politics drama.

Seriously, though, I know it won't be 1:1 having played the previous demo, but I for one am really excited about the shift to an action combat system.

The water at Galdin Quay is made to recreate the look of Maldives. It's shallow water, so that's why it appears that bright.

Looks like their TAA is able to cover the hair pretty consistently on Pro even when Noct moves. Do all of your high quality Pro mode shots ever come out with hair dithering like this?

KU6000 here.

HDR is awesome, is supposed to look like that, super bright, just like a sunny day of summer.
