Animal Crossing Direct Nov. 2, Miitopia featured in JP stream (no mobile/Switch)

I don't understand the new way of arranging furniture in your home, you have to talk to someone to unlock it?

Also, we have Happy Home Designer on a gamecard but I've never played it myself, how do you go about being able to buy items from that game?

These are actually a lot of changes. Kind of feels like a groundwork being laid for a new game. I want to believe.

Got home and started trying to download it, and discovered that I had over 7,000 blocks of unneeded demos. Ha. Deleted 'em all and am now downloading the update.

I've been trying to get back into New Leaf the past couple of weeks, and I hadn't been able to develop any real desire to keep playing, but these new features (minus the amiibo stuff because lol I still have an OG) sound suuuper good. Can't wait to try theeeemmm.

You can get a hidden storage room upgrade from Nook at Nook's Homes. It's only 158,000 bells. It will give you access to waaaay more inventory storage when you're in your house.

Also, Dotty appears when the upgrade finishes the next day and she will give you a tutorial on how to redecorate using the Happy Home Designer touch interface. Fairly straightforward and it makes redecorating so much easier and more intuitive than before.

OK... I could just be nuts... but I feel like they added new dialogue for the villagers. Just talked to one of my new move-ins, Francine, and I NEVER seen that specific dialogue before (I've played a lot of this game for the first 2 years, lol). I hope it's not just that I somehow managed to never get that dialogue string before... Also, the Snooty villager voice... felt different too. Again, probably just imagining it.

Great quality of life update so far. Still kind of wish they'd just let me access all the public works projects already. I really kinda hate that it's all rng based.

I launched the game after more than one year of absence, I saw that Whitney left my city, I closed the game and I cried in my bed. It's not worth it anymore.

The real megaton update would have been real character creation so us colored folk could actually be colored in game. Guess that's for the next AC.

I'm highly considering selling my current town once I get this update. I mean, I haven't touched my current New Leaf town in years....maybe its time to start fresh

I can't for the life of me find the Nookling's Store. Is it possible for it to disappear?

Edit- just remember it's across the tracks. Oops!

I would guess that it works like the Disney Magical World -> Disney Magical World 2 freebies, the game checks your SD card to see if you have data from the other game in your Activity Log and hoists the related flag.

I haven't updated yet, but the Direct hinted that they'd just be available from Nook's catalog after that flag is triggered.

Did you cross the train tracks to the shopping district?

Had to start over since I lost my town during a 3DS transfer years ago. How do I get the mini games? Paid off my first payment but I'm still in a tent if that has anything to do with it.

You get "wii u" or 3ds items from either scanning animal crossing amiibos or getting them through a fortune cookie from nook

This isn't pretty much what I was expecting in the worst way possible. Hopefully this is just a test drive of much larger versions of things like the camp and mini games
in the Switch version.

so hang on, if you decide to sell your town and start over, do you only get to keep the bells you get from selling it? or does your bank account balance carry over too?

Having all this stuff locked behind amiibo is really discouraging. If this is a look at what is to come, I don't want it.

Are there other ways to get campers other than amiibo?

So is my RV park going to be empty until Dec 2nd or will new villagers come and hangout sometimes without the amiibo cards?

In game? Or on the device? In game I can't remember for the non card amiibos (cards are scanned with wisp). On the device, new 3ds and new 3ds cl scan via the touchscreen

I know how to scan amiibo, I just don't know where in the game I can do that. Just looked up the manual, apparently you need a magic lamp and can scan one amiibo per day. Well, I guess that's it for today then. Bummer. I wanted to play Puzzle League.

Yeah, because the base game is so lacking in content.

Nintendo said from the beginning that this would be an amiibo-focused update, and there are a number of new features here that don't have anything to do with amiibo.

Isn't most of the stuff available without amiibos, just harder to obtain? Not sure about the campers though
Though if you want them for your town I'm sure you can get them via multiplayer

I'm really disappointed that Leigh wasn't on the comeback list, they've forgotten about my OG bestie :(

But other than that this all looks great! But it sure is frustrating to have it seemingly locked behind amiibo. I'm hoping the caravan park will randomly have someone there like the campsite every so often.

Thanks for the infos!
I will have to upgrade my house then, a new motivation to re-play again, I guess :)

Having just seen the Direct...

Seems like the update is everything I was hoping for and somehow even more! It adds amiibo that give you more control over who's in your village and more Nintendo crossover elements, embeds minigames into the game (reminds me of the GCN game), adds in the HHD UX improvements, gives you daily and weekly goals (seems kind of counter to the AC design philosophy, but since they're optional, I guess it works and excites me!), provides more storage, adds a photo mode, and even incentivizes a convenient way of starting over. All of that sounds cool.

I don't really have any desire to jump back into New Leaf, but it feels like this update just gave New Leaf an even stronger argument for being the best Animal Crossing game yet. I'll wait and see what the future brings for the franchise, but this update really has me excited for the next game!

Ahhh i just lended out my copy of the game to my nephews, well they will probably enjoy the game even more now.

Great changes especialy getting coupons you can trade in if you help out villagers.
The puzzle stuff also is very cool and the new campside.

Cool that the Wolf Link and Ganondorf Amiibo work those are the only 2 i have now.

I was hoping that if they were going to dedicate an entire mini Direct to the amiibo update and not show mobile at all that there would be some non-amiibo updates as well. There's some small QoL stuff but that's really it.

There's an awful lot you can do without amiibo. Pretty much only the crossover stuff and the RVs themselves are exclusive.

How do you get the 3ds item for the Puzzle League minigame without an amiibo?

Check the campsite shop daily or get Fortune #51 for the Wii U and Fortune #57 for a 3DS in Nook's store.

The screen where you collect your meow coupons looks suspicially like you can connect something else to it...

The pic on the menu is a 3ds and it's the only option right now, and it says "end session" rather than Back when you want to return to the game.
