I remember the Nap McCallum injury. Pretty sure it was a Monday night game. If I am also remembering correctly it was life threatening, as the break to his leg was so bad that it ruptured an artery and he could have bled out.

Bridgewater was under center, took the snap and, as he began his drop, screamed in pain and fell to the ground. He immediately grabbed at his left knee and players were consequently heard cursing loudly while others began slamming their helmets on the ground. Players on the sidelines immediately bent down in prayer as trainers gathered around him. The injury could be quickly diagnosed as something serious from the reactions of everyone at practice and the visible and audible pain that Bridgewater was in.

Bridgewater did not appear to be contacted in any way. There have been instances where offensive linemen will roll up on a quarterbacks leg after the ball is snapped causing injury, but that did not appear to be the case here. Bridgewater simply took one or two steps in his drop and went down.

As media members were leaving practice an ambulance arrived at Winter Park though no word was given as to the injury or the extent of it.

A clean break can be less serious than a torn ligament but depending on complications they can be really bad. Up to life threatening if an artery is cut.
