The thing people have been lauding the most might be what's hurting them...director freedom. Marvel, and I dislike it for the record, has complete control over their movies. This is probably what Geoff Johns is now doing for DC films, which is taking over after SS, I believe? Or is it WW?
If DC wants to give directors complete freedom over their movies, it's going to produce a rather disjointed feeling universe, though it might end up producing some good individual films.
I personally am 100% on board with DC's films, but I'm in the extreme minority. I'm not influenced by the cartoons or animated series like most people seem to be, I'm a late '80s-'90s comic guy. What I want from DC films and what everyone else wants are completely different. They need a guiding force like Johns to unify the films if they want to continue with what they've established thus far. They also need to get WB the fuck out of the picture and let DC Films handle it.
