I think I'm around level 11 now, been mostly playing games vs. AI to get a feel for the different heroes on PS4.

Went online last night and joined a pub game, immediately was matched against a team of 6 Tracers. It was all downhill from there.

I feel like actually playing this game against others unless I have a full group is a losing fucking battle. It's too bad because I really like it, but damn is it rough if you have to run with pubs.

He was playing soldier 76, the problem is you Gino the entire team by sucking. There are some characters like rein, Winston, mercy, etc that can be played with a controller though but even then the turning slowness would gimp you on PC

Yeah, Soldier 76 wouldn't be the best to use, hahaha.

If you can walk to the Widow McCree would be the best counter.

If McCree can get to where the Widowmaker is then that Widowmaker is shit at their job. And at that point it shouldn't matter who you fight them with.

Best Widowmaker counters I've seen for people that can't aim (like myself) are DVa and Winston. Enough heath to shrug off her SMG, can get to any of her vantage points and force her to relocate, and their movement is on low enough cooldowns that they can easily follow.

If you're going solo, it's actually rare to play against other randoms who all choose the same character. You were probably grouped up with a 5 party group and they got matches up with a 6 player group who all chose one character.

Nah I've had random matches where everyone decides to go all one hero. Mostly for fun because that's a strategy that's super easy to shut down if you know counters.

About tired of randoms.

Same here.

During a game for me yesterday, I looked at the team layout, and I was playing with two people who are Widowmaker on the attack side of a map. I mean comeonnnnn.

This is what I get for choosing the PS4 version I suppose.

Weird to see all this talk about countering Widowmaker on PC. I must be lucky and run into a bunch of shitty Widowmakers in pub games, because I've never really had much trouble with them. Honestly, I've taken out a lot of them with Pharah, who every website will tell you is hard countered by a sniper. Could be too that I tend to flank and use back routes a lot, so I can usually take them by surprise. If you can manage that, a few rockets onto their cozy little sniping platform will send them scurrying

Never had that happen when going solo. You guys have some luck.

Soldier 76-81 can be pretty scary to deal with. Especially when you hear

"I've got you in my - I've got you in my - I've got you in my - I've got you in my - I've got you in my - I've got you in my sights"

Sorry, it was meant to be a reply to this:

You don't always have to jump to them as well, just walking to their position, giving them a whiff of electricity and jumping after they flee also works.

Anyway, another nerf I want to see is her ult. Make it so it's louder on activation, and that you can stop it by killing her. Seriously, basically free wallhacks for the entire team? Eesh.

Widow is constantly one-shotting me as Mercy. The replays are usually the same: Widow sees the player I'm healing, and follows the beam until my head comes into view.

Free walkhacks is one thing, but free hidden wallhacks is ew

Ultimately it won't matter because using the controller will reflect in your mmr. He will just be treated like anyone on pc who with kb/m who has the skill of someone with a controller. I can guarantee you that there are plenty of people on pc with kb/m who are worse than me with controller.

I got a legendary zenyatta skin and decided to play him a couple of matches but have up after being one shotted like 20 times in a row by widowmakers

What if you change the wallhack to some kind of radar?

That you at least know that your are being flanked or something, but not aiming at red moving parts. Knowing they will come around the corner any moment.

Playing with pubs is absolutely fine.

I see now. My bad.

I do agree that some changes to her ult would be nice. I have no real idea if the enemy has it activated at any given time which seems really odd for an ability that powerful. I get that it's not traditionally powerful, but it's still strong enough that you'll want to play around it.

The biggest change to her that I want to see is reducing how fast her damage charges up when she zooms in. Getting to full damage with her seems ridiculously fast. Other than that and her ult she seems pretty fine.

lately i keep getting matched with a high level players from 70 and above, what did blizzard do ?

nothing the payer pool is just higher level now. 70 is the mid range now

It places you against similarly skilled allies and foes, so it should actually be pretty easy at the start, and only gets harder from there.

Give it a few more goes. A six stacked team is easy to counter because they all have the same weakness. Torbjorn, McCree, Widow Maker and Winston can be good counters for tracer.

It's 40% less compared to the main weapon of an assault character. Her secondary weapon. Meanwhile Hanzo has to contend with actual projectile movement (and fall) plus "reloading" after each shot. And he's pretty much dead in melee unless he gets a lucky shot. I think there's a problem here.

At close range hanzo is much deadlier than widowmaker. Scatter shot 1 shots a lot of characters, even at low charge. And projectile speed and drop off is not much of an issue when you're fighting close ranged. I'm much more afraid of hanzo at close range than widowmaker for sure. Widowmaker will often even have to reload since sniping takes 3 bullets per shot.

At the very least, I personally am much more afraid of a good hanzo at close range than even a widowmaker. Even enjoys a wider field of view while sniping so it's harder to flank him unaware.

It's really not that weak. It out-DPSs a lot of other characters, especially if you aim for headshots.

Compare this to the TF2 Sniper's SMG, which has the lowest damage output of any stock (ranged) weapon in the game.

It pretty much is the lowest damage output of any character, aside from some tanks and some support. I guess pharah arguably does 120 dps against solo targets. Even zenyatta hits for 135 dps (~200 dps with orb of discord on) btw. Even winston arguably will outdps her if he lands rocket jump hits and multiple targets with his primary.

Also a few comparisons
widow = 130 dps with smg
tracer = 240 dps
bastion = 160 dps
s76 = 170 dps (1 second damage of 290 if you includ helix direct hit)
zenyatta 135 dps (202 with discord)
mercy = 100 dps
winston = 50 dps, per target

I play solo and don't find it too bad at all. Sure there are occasional rough games, but I find I'm fairly evenly on both sides of that. The only thing I find is that there will times when for example you don't want to play the healer again and nobody else does of course and you just have to roll with it and play what you want.

I can't wait for more info about Sombra

Support sniper might be a way to help shift the (bad) widowmaker crew to something more team oriented

Also, new characters, and potential edginess, are always fun

A full charge does 75% of your HP (at just your body) as Pharah and you're slow in the air. She needs two shots to take you out of the air. The websites aren't lying.

Played 5 matches in the weekly random hero event on ps4, won all 5 convincingly with randoms. Biggest blow out wins I've ever had in this game. Like the opposing teams weren't even trying...I usually go 50/50 wins/losses.

It was pretty fun not knowing who you would spawn with. Spawned as Winston once, a hero i had never picked, and did very well with him. I'd like to see this mode stay permanently.

I've been lucky with Widowmakers. Most of the time when I run into a good one they have a shitty team and fall apart when they have no support.

Yeah, I stopped playing pharah because she is severely handicapped the moment a widowmaker steps on the field. They don't have to aim for headshots. Your only chance is to hope they miss and your projectiles are too slow to really disrupt them reliably.

I've had some luck against mediocre snipers, but good ones can just consistently double bodyshot you.

When one person votes for you and it looks like you selfishly voted for yourself @.@

Yeah, for some reason I think about this often lol. I usually only vote for myself if someone else votes for me first so I get this perception out of the way lol.

I like Zenyatta but there are so many Widowmakers around that you are just canon fodder on most maps, just a body shot eliminates you in one go. May as well not bother.

LOL i know the feel. when i'm up there with 0 and i sit without voting waiting for someone to vote for me so i can at least make it 2 but no one votes so i vote last second and think it's a pity vote from someone else but feels bad

also. almost OT3, fam
