What's the open worldly type stuff like? Is it just "drive from point a to b" instead of a cutscene or is there side stuff?

Hmm yeah that is a good question cause I died quite a bit towards the later half of the game. So if it counts cutscenes in the timer then perhaps that's what made the discrepancies.

Awesome. For the record, some guys on Beyond3D concluded that they think there's improved GI / lighting in some of the less open environments and levels, so that's another thing to consider.

I can only assume they are talking about some of the interiors. They look absolutely fantastic!

And really, this games graphics are absolutely phenomenal. The temporal AA hurts it a bit in the form of the artifacts that are sometimes noticeable but how clean the image is is absolutely crazy.

Edit: Yea, counter counts the time played properly. Doesnt reset after death. I tested by driving me, Sam and Sully over cliffs to multiple deaths.

That's pretty funny. I think I'm going to try this for shits and giggles. Do they all fall out of the jeep during the death animation sequence, or do they stay in it?

Also, awesome screenshots man. The IQ is unbelievable.

Good impressions. Can't wait. Gonna go see Cap America and then take Tuesday off for UC4.

Was debating if I could get a playthrough of 3 in before, but I don't want to burn myself out (plus, eeehh, 3 can kind of be skipped). Good two months for TPS's with this and Quantum Break. Fun times.

Greg isn't back for this right? How's the music been for any of the UC OST fans that have the game?
The best thing I can say a out the mechanics so far is that it's pretty much the MP mechanics in SP. 30FPS aside, it's translated incredibly well and actually work better given that enemies react when getting shot at.

They stayed in the Jeep from the cliff I did it. It was hilarious because when I first jumped off the ramp, it triggered Nates happy "yeaaa!" before immediately transitioning to multiple screams.

He no longer can spread his poison here but keeps spreading in Beyond3d. I think his sole goal in existence is to downplay this game as if he was hired or sth.

Ol VFX VET, lol. He's a super duper xbox fanboy. I remember dealing with his antics at Teamxbox back in the day. I see some things never change. Lol

I'm sure we'll get better quality comparison shots as from my understanding that segment is still in the game, but it's not like these in-game (not cut-scene) character models don't already look great.

Dang this is the most beautiful game ever. This is very impressive for ingame model but it looks like self shadowing is turned off and the SSS not as intense as the cutscenes.
 
One thing I've noticed is that the game has a sharpening filter but that its not applied in the actual gameplay. Or not that I've noticed.

If you pull out your journal, it applies the filter to the hands and the book. When you put it away, you can see the sharpening filter fade out over the course of a second or so.

The SSS appears to be exactly the same to me. You can even see greater examples of it in gameplay such as with Drake's ears here.

Yes my friend. That is what I wanted to say. Look at the comparison pic I posted. The final game has better use of more natural SSS on characters and on the whole scene from foliage to umbrellas. And the models look better too.
Try to tell this to VFX-Veteran and his team of haters. In vain.
 
Guys it's the best looking game ever, don't worry.

Messed around with a few more encounters, this time with rope action. Swinging around a battle is fun as hell. His jump from the rope super falcon punch is way over powered though, that thing locks on to anyone nearby like a missile, physics be damned drake is going to punch him.

I am getting dizzy thoughts when I imagine the PS4 Neo. You will say that is already heaven but there are different levels in heaven. :D
 
For those who care about technical & performance analysis:

Game is practically locked 30 FPS all the time. The only times it dips are during big explosions for half a second to a second.

Either the hitching I mentioned at the beginning of the day was an incredibly rare occurrence that hasnt repeated itself since or my PS4 rebuilding the database fixed the issue.

Loading times are incredibly quick. My relative comparison here is TLOU remastered. The initial loading is much faster then TLOUs and of course, there's no loading afterwards.

Nothing else is coming to mind right now. If anyone has questions, I'd be happy to answer as I'm done playing for the day.

5 hours and 40 minutes playtime and I'm mid way through chapter 10.
