Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

Are people here catching on that there is hitbox fuckery with huge monsters in a souls game? You can deny all you want but every souls game will have worse examples than the thing you are currently having a breackdown over. I can make a thread about shitty hitboxes for any one of the games and i will find support in shitting on the games hitbox with plenty of people finding faults like those for every game in the series.

From what I've seen so far, Firelink and the High Wall are not connected to the rest of the world, but everything else (that I know of) is interconnected. And even with Firelink and the High Wall, you can see the other areas in the distance and know how they're related spatially.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it just the first few areas that aren't connected? Or are the new areas not connected to each other either?

Well, I hope so. If the rest of the game opens up that should be fine. Dark Souls was just on another level with so many possible directions to go from the start.

i dont understand the boss he is at right now lol
Deacons of the Deep
awesome design tho

Edit: nvm, pretty easy after all

Never really thought about this until today, but the Souls series has easily been the most expensive series for me over the last two decades. Not sure if I spent more in the arcades in the 90s, but I can't imagine that I did.

*Demon's Souls - $460
Dark Souls - $120
Dark Souls 2 - $120
*Bloodborne - $460
*Dark Souls 3 - $700

World of Warcraft cost me around $1200

*this comes with a caveat

Nah, Bloodborne doesn't, not really. I mean, plenty of people have played it for 10,000+ hours and only ever had a single incident according to GAF.

What? Did you get ten copies of each?

Wow, judging from the streams the world is really NOT interconnected as DS1... the player warps out of every zone. Maybe the level design of each zone is great, but they seems kind of separated.

Whatever DS1 pc was on release
60 euros for DS2 ps3
$30 for DS2 PC
$35 SOFTS
$500 prestige edition DS3
$32 dollars from CDkeys in case presite is late rofl

Pretty sure I'm the same as you when it comes to a single game series.

Lore-wise, the way they have it makes sense. You start at Firelink Shrine, which is protected by the High Wall and inaccessible by normal folk. Once you "come down from the mount", the paths start diverging.

To me, bosses like that come off as a small 'fuck you' to the player. Gives us at least a few Artorias-level boss fights.

Interconnected world, disconnected hub that you warp back to.
People are falling apart over this already. I don't see the point of assuming things all at once right now. You can guess even less since you can't read the text anyway.
Less than 24 hours before we get info we understand.

Nice of the streamer to stop early so now we have it in past broadcasts.

I like what I'm seeing for the most part. Watching different streams is going to take most of my free time in the next few days.

I won't be getting the game until its US release and i'm trying to avoid spoilers, but I do have one question:

Is the balder side sword in this game?

Urghh i'm so weak, i'm actually tempted to get this when it's out on the JPN store.

I'm on holiday from work now Namco, not in 3 weeks...

That's what it looks like... I dunno, would need more time to confirm. After this fights in the stream it was a dead end.

Are you sure ? does not look like it judging from streams...

Looked like he got to that last boss fight all the way from Undead Settlement and the boss there without any warping?

There where also areas that semt to lead away from right before the last fight.

I figure it's one of those bosses that drop a keyitem to open up another path. Hence the dead end. Like Ornstein & Smough who where also dead ends.

I feel like the kid who has to stay inside during recess. I don't want to spoil any of the game but this thread is making it HARD. 24 hours to unlock.

Tic...toc.....tic

I think I can safely skip Dark Souls 2. Agree? Disagree?

Don't skip it. Overall it may the lesser game of the Soulsborne series, but that does not mean it's not an amazing experience. I really don't understand the hate it gets.

You may want to leave it for after you complete DS3 though.

Looking at the achievement list,
it seems most of the other fights may be mostly 1 v 1 with the exception of the abyss watchers.

awesome man!!!

Come on, now. It might have issues but it's still better than 99% of the games that came out in the same year. If youre a Souls fan you should at least try it out.

I've said it before but its hilarious how DS2 became the worst thing to happen on planet earth after the dinosaur extinction on gaf.

What? Did you get ten copies of each?

Haha no. I'm including the price of a system or PC upgrade. I was going to eventually probably do that anyway, but I decided to at the points I did soley for those games. I still only have a single game for my PS4 too.

Jesus Christ those hitboxes.

A team!
A team!
A...

Yup. Not a good game.

Bullshit. And this is coming from someone who was thoroughly dissatisfied with it, and annoyed as hell day one with agility, hitboxes and baseball swing tracking (to which the GAF hive mind said "I don't notice, the game is great"; only to do a 180 six months later).

If you like dark souls 1 or bloodborne then you will get more enjoyment out of it then most games you will play in the same year. While it is the worst of the 3 games it was still really enjoyable to play.

I'm incredibly pissed that we have to wait an extra two weeks for this, and seemingly for no reason since streamers get to download English versions already.

My girlfriend goes on holiday next week, so I could have had a week of uninterrupted time with it, but no, it comes out a few days after she returns.
