Dark Souls 3 releasing tomorrow in Japan is the worst

I would be distraught, but I have a midterm and several assignments due do I won't even have time to play the Japanese release. I can wait for the U.S release.

Edit: But apparently the game can be played in English already WTF.

The steam version will be multi language, it would be funny if the PS4 version would have English text :P

How many of those PC players online are for reviewers i wonder and how many for streamers i wonder?IGN had that stream of the PC version. It can only be a few streamers.

I feel your pain mate, I need to finish my PhD literature review and provisional year report this week... It's a lot of work haha

I feel you man, it sucks, but moments like these I feel it was worth it studying Japanese.

Haha, indeed! Although its a tad too expensive to go that route in my opinion, and I just know I'll enjoy it more if I play it through in English (by virtue of understanding everything).

The whole "the game is up and ready to go for other territories, we just need to hold it back because reasons" really sucks, especially for this type of game, being so hotly anticipated and having that awesome sense of discovery sort of hampered in a communal sense. Hopefully theres a better reason than just "fiscal year".

its just not fair guys.

its. not. fair.

I would totally get the Japanese version if I wasn't unemployed right now. Can't be all recklessly double dipping right now.

Going on blackout is one thing. Even if you can do it, you still will be playing through pillaged territory by the time it comes out in NA.

If you want to be among the pioneers, discovering things for the first time, discussing things for the first time, comparing notes for the first time -- You need either the Japanese version or to be among the few who get the NA version in advance.

In three weeks, bros, almost everything will be old news. Not only will lots of players have done it, lots of stream watchers will have witnessed it. Loses a bit of the electricity.

Yep it's a huge bummer especially from a souls game. I guess people just don't understand it.

Thanks dude, that is what I actually meant to write in the OP.

Or you can be among the hundreds of thousands that will be playing for the first time for the worldwide release. There will be plenty of discussion. Although I guess some of the cryptic stuff will be figured out.

Bought the JP version.

I am weak.

Will probably join soon.

I'm pretty sure it has English dialogue at least.

The next two week will be especially annoying for school...but I'm just a lowly Sophomore. PhD >.> Hypron please.

Nailed it. Being three weeks late to the community party sucks so much.

Yeah, it's not totally diminished, you are correct. There'll be lots of people sharing the new experience with you.

But it won't quite be the same as being in the first wave.

Souls games have a heavy community aspect around them. You're not just playing the game itself, you're a part of something. That's how it feels. That's how it's always felt. Playing Souls 1 in the launch window was a glorious, miraculous, revelatory experience for me. If you wanted to have the same experience now, at this point in time, you can't. That ship has long sailed. It's still a great game, but a moment in time can't be repeated.

That was just an example. Information will be out there. I will be spoiled. And it's annoying.
no, if you actually care you won't. seriously, I don't see how it's hard to avoid spoilers unless you're actively looking for them.
I managed to avoid being spoiled on a lot of things, some much more popular than Dark Souls, but maybe I have special anti-spoilers skills and I never knew it.

Never doubted it, it will definitely have English voices, that was always the norm in all Souls games.

Sooo with some streamers being able to play perfectly translated PC version so fast, the spoilers will be absolutely out of control.

While Souls are not super story driven games and you can imagine the history as you want, nothing is set in stone, there are things that can definitely screw up the suprise.

For example I around DS2 I got The Old Dragonslayer spoiled. It was a nice fan service, I would be so hyped up if I walked into the fog gate without knowing what to expect.

That's a bummer. I'm very very disappointed with all that release delay shenanigans and double standards.

The fault is with Bandai Namco here.
Twitch streamers are the beta testers so they can develop a Day 1 patch is my guess for release.
Gathering data for fixing stuff.
This move is still dumb though.

I went ahead and did it. I've never had a Japanese PSN account. Usually I just buy the import itself, but I wanted to be part of the hype.

so twitch streamers are getting the english version means that localization is probably done.

that means the xbox one workaround works and you can buy it form japanese store and unlock it from us on wed

They probably want that Twitch viewer count or something. Journalists do their thing and then you have the one person who gets a thousand people to view his single stream. I get sick of feeling singled out by players and the whole streaming thing isn't really my tastes.

The main difference between undergraduate and graduate studies is that you only have yourself to blame for not managing your time properly when you do a PhD haha :p

I wouldn't be in this situation if I hadn't pushed back the writing to concentrate on other things instead.

Wait for someone to confirm this before buying, I'm not sure that's the case. The game is published by From Software (Kadokawa) in Japan and it's possible that the Japanese version is considered a different game as the Namco Bandai published version that gets released everywhere else. Streamers who are getting the game early are playing the Namco version which might be different from the one you buy on Japanese XBL. The Japanese version doesn't have English text according to all the import sites.

In general I agree, but I did go full blackout for DS2 and in to the that boss fight not knowing what to expect and remember thinking it was lame as hell lol. That was on DS2 though, I had the same reaction to a lot of the new bosses, especially the scorpion woman and Serpent woman - I literally just replayed vanilla DS2 AND SOTFS a couple of weeks ago and can't remember their names!

i already bought the game from the japanese store, switched to the us store and it downloaded dark souls 3 18gigs of data. i checked if its the same by pinning the us version and switching to japanese again to see if it takes me to the store page and it did

its the same alright and all signs point to an early unlock wed

well that would be great news, hope you're right.

that can't be right.. no way

i thought so too but it definitely worked with other titles ... allthough only a few days early at most, not weeks. right now the store works like this : you buy the game from whatever store you want and you get the license to download it from whatever store you want. unlock time is tied to the store you bought it from so technically you can buy it from the japanese store, cancel the download and finally switch to the us store to download the us preload which should unlock on the japanese date

this worked 100% in the past with every game released so far

If this is true, then this weekend could be the greatest weekend.. EVER!

Don't raise my hype like this man...don't do it.

How do I buy from the Japanese store? Do it from the web store and not the console store?
