Dark Souls 3 releasing tomorrow in Japan is the worst

I don't plan on spoiling myself. Nonetheless, it's annoying that most or all of the lore hunting / secret finding will be completed by the time I'm playing the game. It hurts the community more than it hurts my personal experience.

It's not a huge deal, but I would have preferred if they just synced the worldwide releases, especially since it isn't clear why they aren't simultaneous.

There was a time when Souls games weren't even considered outside of Asia. Be thankful you're even getting them up till the last one.

There is no reason to be thankful, bamco is releasing/localising this game for the western world because it earns them a lot of money, not because they're so kindhearted.

Wings are probably the worst food to eat while playing a game

but anyway, to avoid spoilers just stay off terrible websites like 4chan. Everywhere else will properly mark spoilers for you

And I don't know what the problem is of avoiding spoilers. Just stop reading anything about the game, petty first world problem fixed.

But that was only the first game, and that was because of Shu. Besides I'm not sure they would have gotten this far with this franchise without Western support. Also, it's weird that they've have such a separate release date.

Dark souls 2 and BB were the only games w/o a huge staggered release. From also self publishes in Japan so I'm not sure why everyone is blaming Namco.

Don't read the wiki, OT etc and you'll be good to go in blind! The wait sucks though, I really wish it was a worldwide release haha

It's a shame we didn't get a simultaneous WW release, but I am kinda glad the wiki will be fleshed out by the time DkS3 is released over here. If I go check something on the wiki, I expect to get as much information as I want.

it sucks, but that's the way it was with demon's souls and dark souls 1. There was still plenty of mystery around dark souls at launch. But yeah I dunno why we are taking a step backwards here.

Get it together, OP.

The first time you play DS3 will be new to you, if you stop looking at all the videos and threads online.

You've waited this long (not actually a long time, really). You can wait a few more weeks. Show yourself you can use self-restraint.

Someone can make a community discussion thread seperate from the Japan version, so that everyone can still discover the game together.

I wonder if you bought the Japan Xbox One version if you switched your region back to US would it give you the US download for it (assuming it up on the store already for preload)?

It's only a few weeks till it comes out everywhere else... Just go on a media blackout if potential spoilers bother you that much.

There, problem solved.

It's not out tomorrow OP don't lie.
Any way, I have the digital version preordered, but DOAX3 comes out the same day so I will be playing that instead :)

It'll be out in less than 24h. Japan is already at the 23rd.

I guess I have bad experiences with getting spoiled on non-related gaming sites. You're right though guys. I think I should just unfollow everthing Dark Souls related.

As i said in a thread i made recently i don't have any hopes that i will ever relive the experience i had playing the Asian import of Demon's Souls and the feeling of a community that was growing at the time while everyone was uncovering the game's well hidden secrets bit by bit.

I know that by the time DS3 comes out here there will be full blown wikis and strategy guides,Youtube playthroughs and walkthroughs, live streams and spoilers all over the web.
The only thing i can do is going almost completely blind through the game. I expect i'll be dying a lot by people who have either played the Japanese version or by people who will be using all the information that will be readillyavailable at the start but that's ok.I'll treat them as just another type of enemy the game throws at me ,only a bit cheaper.

DS3 is actually going to be my first DS game that I plan to play from start to finish, so even though I saw some videos I don't have the feeling like I got spoiled at all xD (when i say my first DS, I mean that I played the first DS for about 5h but I don't have time to finish it before april, so I might as well get humiliated in DS3).

the days of dark souls being a mystery are over
even if they came out same day everything would be on wikis SO quickly

just stay off the threads/wikis and play blindly

You still have enough time to beat the first DS before the Western release of DS3.Although you might feel burned out.

does the Japanese version have english voice acting? I might actually be able to manage with my japanese, may be tempted by digital import

its not till the 24th in japan, its 1 day 22 hours 44 minutes and 20 seconds away from release

Huh? if Dark Souls 3 exist probaby a big part because the game got popular on the west. This series sells more here than in Japan.

I dont think so. When Demons Souls was a big import hit people were importing the asian version, which had full english voice and subtitles and meant for distribution in asia but not for domestic Japanese release which, obviously, had Japanese voice and text. Id assume its the same here, and with a 2 day difference does it really matter that much?

I think it's going to be inevitable that unless you go on complete blackout that some of it will be spoiled. Even if you don't read the details, a thread title that references a comparison to something, or a comment in one of the previous games OTs about a returning character or area comparisons or story comparisons - these are bound to happen in the next few weeks.

Gaming websites/GAF/youtube cold turkey for a 3 weeks, you think this is easy?!

Japan-GAF and import-GAF better not spoil anything. Knowing that game and it's secrets are out in the world and I'm not there playing along sucks. It's going to be a grueling 3 weeks.

At least Japanese players will be ready to die due to any technical issues and can report it back to From who will hopefully have fixed some the first issues players come across by the time the rest of us get it.

Not only technical issues. The game will undoubtedly get plenty of balance fixes before it releases here too. Which sucks in my opinion. I want the dragonbutts to aggro on me. I want humanity to be a stupidly rare drop. I want Iron Flesh to be broken as shit.

I want it raw, but I want it raw in a language I wield. This delayed release is awful.

It releases "tomorrow" (Wednesday) here too if you import. Take your Souls-less poverty into your own hands OP, get your Japan PSN account, your Google Translate app, and your play-asia cards. Live the dream! スキルを取得

I'm really thinking about doing the JP PSN account thing to mess around early in it until US release.

no need to worry I ll not spoil any things

dark souls 3 > avgn 2 > night cry > star ocean 5

to be honest, i ll never leave my bedroom til 12 april

I am legit frustrated about this, especially the trophy list and soundtrack titles being out there already... these games have a lot of mystery and a near simultaneous release for Dark 2 and Bloodborne really worked in the games' favor.

I went for the JP version because I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I can afford it and the English release.

I'm pretty sure all the Japanese versions of the Souls games have English voice acting, and only English voice acting (kinda like the Resident Evil games). I have the Japanese version of Bloodborne and it is only English audio too.
