*explain everything to me*

*omg exposition sucks, trust your audience for once*

Some people...even if they don't give an explanation in the movie. You're watching God and a man dressed as a bat fighting each other, suspension of disbelief shouldn't be that hard and you could probably find a reason why he didn't use his superhearing. It was a very brief moment he did not see him, probably did not expect it to happen and almost immediatly rushes through the smoke etc etc.

Truth

Pretty impressed with how integrated the marketing is with Kimmel's show. I'm guessing that the dialogue we keep hearing from Wayne/Kent (in between bouts of being interrupted) is actually in the film, but this was just a joke take they did. Also impressed that they got Will Arnett in.

If you mean joke take as in, during filming, no. The whole venue is different internally. They just went to that much effort. See what being friends with the star can do? Brilliant stuff.

I can't do this anymore. Please no more MoS destruction discussion. Kill me now.

I don't like MoS for my own reasons, but I'd be lying if I didn't think that the whole destruction discussion has been driven into the Earth's core already.

Kimmel and Affleck are boys? Figures, not always easy to pull stuff like this. Totally worth it.

Cavill was near breaking when he was dabbling with the phone

Superman is just letting Batman vent like letting the a child have a tantrum. He is barely putting effort into stopping Bruce lol

But Superman let all those people die in the end of Man of Steel. All that destruction.

He is the worst hero ever.

Its pretty obvious the destruction was caused by Zod and the world engine but people refuse to give credit to the best villain of all time :P

yeh it does look like the smokenade has a smidge of kryptonite in it after seeing supes face after he swoops through it.

Damn that looks great. Love the look of Gotham in the back. The fight between these two will be so epic, I'm thinking this film will have the best comic book movie action yet.

Why is this movie getting nitpicked the SHIT out of it here?

Not caring for Man of Steel or Zack Snyder, tired of super hero movies in general, bandwagoners for whatever is popular hatin' on the newcomer, actual marvel fans that dislike DC (probably not that many people, comic fans are generally comic fans and not loyal to one company).

Does Superman BLEEEEEEEEEE—never mind, I'll just watch the clip.

Edit: OK, sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but this grimdark shit really doesn't work for these characters. Maybe's it's just the movie's overall aesthetic I'm having a problem with, but I find it oppressively gloomy. It doubles down on the tone I disliked in Man of Steel. And Batman's flashlight eyes look dumb. I will still see this movie but I remain skeptical.
Joke post? You can't write grimdark without Batman.

Why are people saying he lost sight of Batman?

Batman is clearly still directly in front of him when he gets out of the smoke. He runs through and then thinks "something was weird about that smoke there" and looks back at it. Probably some kind of kryptonite smoke.

Pre-smoke Batman is right on the corner of a broken ledge on the roof

post-smoke Batman is standing in the middle of the roof next to a roof skylight. In fact, its the same roof skylight you can see directly behind Superman when the smoke grenade goes down at his feet.

Meanwhile, Superman is a few feet away from the edge he just threw Batman into.

Logically, this reads as Batman somehow moving really fast behind Superman as he races forward to try and surprise him with this gun attack.

How was Superman sure he wouldn't flat out kill Batman when he punches him through a building?

Plot Armor

I'm reminded of how old Batman attacks Superman in The Dark Knight Returns - . Bats was the supreme strategist taking down Superman. He used his mech suit, all the city's electricity, and general great fighting to keep Supes busy and to mildly hurt him. And Supes was weak from a recent nuclear blast / lack of sunlight anyway. Then the coup de grace -
Old Green Arrow fired the Kryptonite arrow. But it didn't pierce Superman - it exploded in his face - he was infected by Kryptonite, bringing him down closer to Batman's level.
Batman won! I hope the film's Batman is shown to have that level of cleverness and strategy.

( Of course, in the end all he has to do is pull out some previously-unseen Green Kryptonite out of a lead-encased utility belt compartment. )

The trailer - we are only seeing pieces of it. You can't complain about seeing clips out of context and without the end-of-film final explanations. It's likely there is more to the smoke and diversions, and that little bullet Bats shoots, of course.

Since the end-goal of the film isn't for there to be a game-ending winner, but Bats and Supes and Wonder Woman will be allies, I can't imagine how far the BvS battle will go.

I'd probably crack up if Bats presses a button after all that, ejecting him out of the possibly lead-based mech suit, and he is wearing Kryptonite. Fight over!

It seems like there's a few traps up his sleeve, I think he starts the fight with some gun turrets, it was shown in the concept art and it lines up with a shot of a trailer where Superman is being shot from all angles.

Agreed. I'm not sure if Bats is testing Superman's invulnerability further, or all part of the master strategy.
If film Batman is the world's greatest detective , then logically he'd have already deduced Superman's power and invulnerability, from watching the Zod battle and whatever else has happened since then. But for the film audience, it might be fun to show Batman testing Superman's limits.
