Fire Emblem Fates Releases in NA Feb. 19th; $80 Special Edition Announced

After speaking to a Best Buy rep, it sounds like they don't know exactly what's going on. She says it's not clear why some people are getting delayed and others are not. They've received several calls about the issue and are bringing it to corporate.

I was told there's, as of yet, no reason to believe Best Buy won't have my special edition in store because the shipment order information for my copy was basically showing up empty.

This could all be bs but that's what I was told. Will be hitting up my Best Buy when it opens in an hour and a half.

I guess I should have been more patient. I already cancelled my order and downloaded from the eShop. Oh well. I honestly preferred the digital version anyway but I'll have to wait a little longer for Revelations. I just remember too many stories of pre orders being cancelled from Best Buy at the height of the Amiibo Rush.

Welp, Fry's cancelled my in-store pickup order.

The dream is dead.

Shit, man. I've been following your story the past few pages, that sucks. Hope you can find an alternative you're happy with. I know it would ruin my day to find out - and with an hour left before BB opens, it may be my turn next.

If it's reaching Frys as well I really have to assume this is a problem with Nintendo allocation. It really does remind me of the zelda n3ds situation and the complete lack of understanding from anyone during that.

Still holding out some hope. The last item I ordered from Best Buy they'd sent me an e-mailing telling me it was delayed, refunded my shipping, and told me it would be a month.

Then that item was on my doorstep that night. It's like their fulfillment facilities and their computer system don't talk to each other or something.

The caretaker of a part-time employee is playing FE:F at work...I can temper my expectations, but this is just unfair/cruel and unusual punishment.

Is it 6:00 yet?

P.S. Any indications that there are special editions in stock at any of the big box retailers?

There's still some hope.

There was a Fry's manager posting in the FE subreddit saying that the people outside would likely get priority over the online pickup orders.

On the bright side I won't have to fight traffic driving to Duluth after work.

Received 2 emails from Best Buy last night telling me it is available for pickup in store on 2/19. Hopefully that means I am in the clear. I have had an order (BBCPE for PS4) where I got the confirmation that the game was at the store but they never received any copies. They looked around for 30 minutes before they refunded me because they cluldnt find it and couldn't get stock from elsewhere to transfer.

I hope that this isn't the case for this release.

Just did the "update shipping address" thing, having gotten the delay email. Here's hoping it works out fine and I didn't screw myself due to a system error or whatever...

Edit: On a more neutral note, is there an agreed upon best version to start with, or no?

Spouse's SE and my copy of Birthright in a box together from Amazon have been "Out for Delivery" since around 5am, and I just know they aren't going to show up until 5pm at the earliest. And that I'll have to be sitting on the porch/maniacally refreshing the tracking page to even know when it gets here, because even though there is a car in the driveway, they'd never ever knock or ring the doorbell. :/

Birthright of you enjoyed Awakening, Conquest if you're a normal human being.

Any would be fine. Conquest is apparently harder and more like the older games; while Birthright is a bit easier and more like Awakening.

Got an email that my copy shipped! If I'm super lucky the warehouse near NY will get this to me tomorrow. But I'm just happy I got a tracking number. Phew.

Just picked my copy up from Best Buy. Hoping it goes well for everyone else!

Well that gives me some relief. Glad I had this for in store pick up. Learned my lesson ordering Arkham Knight from them. Best Buy doesn't open for another 3 hours here so hopefully mine is there. I really should be sleeping in some more.....

Well, I updated my address and got a pre-authorization on my card from Best Buy finally. Now it's in preparing for shipping. Fingers crossed that I didn't screw it up and it'll still go through. I still plan on calling support sometime today to make sure things are still ok.

That seems really backward to me. The online preorder paid for something. The people standing outside have not.

Has anyone actually gone to the store and tried to pick it up yet

There were about 4 people that jetted to the game section when our Best Buy opened and no luck. Peeked behind the glass and saw that there were copies of the special edition for pre-orders, so at least they have some copies somewhere.

Just picked up my SE at Best Buy. I asked and they don't even have any regular copies that aren't for preorders. The hunger is strong.

30 minutes til opening and there's a huge line outside of Frys >_<

update: manager sent us all home saying no more SE's lol

Well after reading my email this morning I was fucking pissed that my best buy pre-order switched to a 3/14 delivery date, then I read through the last few pages of this thread and at least I'm comforted to know I'm not alone. Man fuck Nintendo for always making their special editions this rare.

Honestly the date doesn't bother me other than being annoyed that we still have these issues in this day and time, the year of our lord 2016. I have a huge backlog to get through but I definitely want to make sure I get a copy of this, especially considering that I pre-ordered the minute it went live.

Also, just for the record, I hate Best Buy's automated messages, just because they're from Best Buy I get this feeling of smugness from them. Man I hate that place.

Fry's doesn't charge you until you actually go pick it up at the store, so they're basically holds rather than an online purchase. They didn't actually do preorders for it, they went up at midnight so it's not like someone had one of these waiting for months.

My copy of Conquest is already at my house. It's funny because I thought I had cancelled my Amazon preorder a few weeks back and last night I decided I'd change my mind and order it again only to find out I never fully cancelled it and it had already shipped. Huzzah

But why do an online hold if it won't be held? Like, thanks for your order. We will hold this game unless someone else wants to buy it.. Wtf

But thanks for clarification. I don't even have Frys here, just pissy at the whole Nintendo limited BS.

My order still says processing and awaiting authorization. Nothing has changed. No email either.

I'm tempted to try the change address trick, but knowing my luck that'll end with my order being cancelled.

Wouldn't be surprised if he hid them under his desk.

When the Animal Crossing XL Bundle launched, I preordered one for in-store pickup, got the notice that it was ready for pickup, and when I got there, they couldn't find it.

I waited at the counter for 30 mins, and as a last ditch effort, the supervisor started checking desks, and found it hidden under the manager's desk. They apologized and promised the manager would be repremanded. No discount or anything for my wasted time.

It was such an awkward and unprofessional experience, that I've never bought from Fry's again.
