So it seems Movies, Music and Books are no longer available from Amazon.ca

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/site-directory/ref=nav_shopall_btn

If you search for and find Movies, Music or Books it will come up with items that say "Sold by Amazon.ca" that DO NOT qualify for free shipping and are actually sold by Amazon.com through the Amazon.ca site (and shipped to the Amazon.ca depot in Canada by Amazon.com and then forwarded to you.)

This is a huge change and means I won't be buying any media from them any longer. Chapters and Best Buy will be getting my business I guess.

Sorry, what? I just randomly clicked through to a book and it looks fine http://www.amazon.ca/dp/1554683831/

U wut, m8? Everything is showing up as sold by Amazon.ca for me...

I'm not sure what you're referring to, unless you're talking specifically about niche items that actually aren't offered by Amazon.ca (thus being offered by a third party seller).

I just looked through a bunch of blu-rays, seems fine.

What the hell are you talking about...?

Tell me about it, I just checked with a friend who doesn't seem to have this problem. Did they restrict me from buying items or something?

Yeah, upon further inspection it seems like they've barred my account from buying media from Amazon.ca as all items including examples given to me show as shipped and sold by "Sold by: Amazon.com.ca, Inc."

...why? Can you post screens of what you're seeing?

Some of my invoices for preordered times show Amazon.com.ca but I am pretty sure they are coming from .ca. I am getting free release day shipping on them.

You need to take some screen caps. Curious to see what is happening.

Are you clicking through a bad URL?

No options for Movies, Music or Books. But when I log out the options are available again.

It may just be a problem with my account. They're looking into it. Sorry to jump the gun, but it's interesting nonetheless.

So guys if i pre-order games on PSN in anticipation of the almost certain inbound MSRPincrease to 89.99 for new releases, there won't be any adjustment when said price increase happens right?

Yeah, the price gets locked in. I did it for a couple of titles. They charge you when you make the order.

Maybe you were trying to buy crappy movies and Amazon was helping you out :p

Canada is the only country in the World where pre-ordering a game makes sense.

Seriously. I have a 30% off preorder of Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam that I'm tempted to cancel because I haven't played Dream Team yet, but all I can think is "When is it going to be this cheap any time soon?"

Nintendo games are crazy to cancel. To answer your question, never.

And this seems better than Dream Team, so just play this one.

This would[/] happen the day I'm late for work. It better not be 10 just as the Skytrain goes underground...

Though I think the Amazon listing lasted a while?

I was having issues with the Best Buy website, it gave me an error twice. Finally able to get an order through, but had to use Paypal instead of directly billing my Visa. Thankfully, based on the confirmation email from Paypal, it doesn't look like it'll charge until the item ships, does that sound right?

Bonus: I had $0.31 in my Paypal account! 0.13% off, that's a deal in today's environment!

Preordered, but I'm gonna wait and see what I want to do. If I end up buying, it will purely be as a collector thing, it would never be opened. I wanna see how "limited" these end up being.
Scalper detected.

Yeah. Maybe it's something to do with the dollar and/or the poor performance BB had this FY, especially over the holiday? Perhaps their online strategy is changing.

Makes sense for them. Take a cut of the profit while giving other sellers a bigger spotlight. Seems like a win win.

If they do introduce third party sellers though, they better have an introductory program that encourages customers to review the seller and the experience. I never, ever touch a third party seller unless they are rated highly on amazon.

Well bestbuy.com has a marketplace thing so maybe it's coming up here.

Edit: Seems like they are already doing it but it wasn't really apparent before...
