What are your hopes for Battlefield 5?

I wouldn't mind a more fun and less serious game like Bad Company 2. I just don't want it set in the past. Especially not WW2 or Vietnam. If it is then I will straight up no buy it. Those wars have been portrayed too many times and it's real boring now. I want something more futuristic and therefore not based on real life events.

No futuristic shit please. We already have Titanfall and every COD studios under the sun working on futuristic stuff so something from WWII to modern era would be fine by me. BF214x is a big fat NO.

Feel like futuristic is the trend being run into the ground. Much like WWII once was not too long ago.

Also futuristic means more annoying fucking auto-aim gimmicky gadget bullshit that is the worst aspect of modern BF. Other than the god-awful unlock system.

Prone slows down gameplay and makes camping too easy, at least before 3D spotting at least.

Slowing down the pace of gameplay would not be at all a bad thing. Post-BC2 Battlefield games are overly fast as it is, even with prone available.

And what sort of camping are we talking about here? Snipers are going to find the highest, safest spots and squat for as long as they can regardless if they can go prone or not, BC2 showed us that much. And well-designed maps generally won't allow a player to lock down an entire area by lying in one place with an LMG or whatnot.

I don't mind prone.

But I say, slow down player movement (specifically lateral, side-to-side strafe) and increase TTK.

My hope is that it's called Bad Company 3.

BF:BC 3 or bust

bad company 3

Bad Company 3 and a game that works from the start.

Bad Company 3 would be great.

Bad Company 3

BC3 with more than 5 hours of single player.
Rush mode
Conquest Mode
Squad Rush
Deathmatch
More than 8 maps.

A Bad Company 2 style game set in the 2142 time frame.

I would have to call a doctor about my unending erection.

bad company till the day I die.

BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 1955 - 1975

That it's actually BC3.

Bad Company 3.
Holy fucking Christ people. IT'S DEFINTELY NOT GOING TO BE BAD COMPANY 3.

I will bet my avatar on it.

I would enjoy if they went back to WWII or Cold War, but that's probably unlikely too. I have no idea what I want out of BF5. If they stay in the same era of warfare I would hope they at least make some kind of meaningful update/change to the gameplay.

I don't think 'Battlefield 5' has as much value as 'Bad Company 3'.

BF3 and BF4 (with it's terrible launch state) have devalued the mainline series. Much like slapping 'Battlefront' on DICE's Star Wars effort I wouldn't be surprised if whatever kind of Battlefield we get is given the 'Bad Company 3' moniker.

Make a bet on it?

Bad Company 2 - 2.3 million in sales as of 2010
Battlefield 4 - Over 7 million in sales as of 2014

Hell will freeze over when EA lets DICE make Bad Company 3 before Battlefield 5.

Look, I loved Bad Company 2. Played an absolute shit ton of it, along with the Vietnam expansion. But you guys aren't using basic logic.

EDIT: I am super duper fucking wrong
Bad Company 2 sold 12 MILLION COPIES as of 2012. Holy shit.

This changes everything I thought about Bad Company as a franchise lol

I'm also seeing a site that says 25 million sold for BF4 as of 2015? Which I could find better data.

My Dream Battlefield
Besides gameplay changes.

Online only, all the maps are from previous games but remastered.
Like 12 maps at launch, no maps paid dlc, but one free map every 1-2 month to keep the player base active.
Only cosmetic dlc. I don't care if there is just one camo or weapon paint and every other one is paid. The importance is that every map is available for free, to make the player base bigger and more active.
Well balanced clases.
60fps on current gen.

I just hope they fix the awful unlock system. It's too fucking grindy and there is just too much of everything. Why do I need to unlock the attachments for each gun? I hate it. Make the unlocks class-based or something.

So devalued that BF3 was the best selling Battlefield until 4 came out, which now has the top spot.

BC2 was the best selling BF game at the time. It's only been beaten by BF3 and 4.

A BC3 would probably do very well, but it doesn't matter because it's not happening.

Well, yeah. The devaluing comes after.

My point is that I don't think 'Battlefield 5', as a title, has any clout. I believe Call of Duty Ghosts sold better than Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, but that doesn't mean a Call of Duty Ghosts 2 would do better than a Call of Duty Advanced Warfare 2.

Genuinely I think Bad Company 3 is the smart move, and I don't see EA going with 'Battlefield 3', 'Battlefield 4', 'Battlefield 5', 'Battlefield 6' (etc) within such a close proximity to each other. They aren't going to continue like that at the rate they are releasing games, and I think now would be the time to do it.

I'm expecting a Bad Company 3, if only because I reckon EA would want to capitalize on the good feelings fans have regarding that series, much like them capitalizing on the good feelings fans had regarding BF2 with Battlefield 3. They aren't ignorant of that, as show by using the 'Battlefront' title for DICE's Star Wars game. I'm definitely not expecting a Battlefield 5.

You can be sure that DICE will keep 60fps on consoles. Fans expect that now,

Nobody said it will be. But people would love to see Bad Company back. We know its Battlefield 5 and we know it will be a military setting.

EA has previously confirmed that there will certainly be a Battlefield 5 in 2016. This was further confirmed by Blake Jorgensen, CFO of EA at a UBS Global Technology Conference. He claimed that EA has already shaped up a “fun, new Battlefield” game, “that will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game; more to come on that,” GameSpot reported.

I agree with a lot of people here, I want BC3.

I would like a SP mode with a story that is fun and ridiculous, not serious and stupid.

Prone also presents a problem when players can lay in otherwise inaccessible areas and in dead bodies. It just isn't necessary for good gameplay and at best is an annoyance.

1943 is my favorite Frostbite Battlefield and it doesn't have prone. Battlefront is my favorite current-gen shooter and it doesn't have prone.

Correctly sized maps mitigates the increase soldier speed of modern Battlefield. I enjoy unlimited sprint and being able to reload while sprinting.

My hope is to have less Call of Duty influence and more Battlefield among other things.

Maps built specifically for their gametype. No more of this swiss-army-map stuff. The map design and game modes suffer for it when it has to incorporate so many different modes all at once.

On a similar note, less game modes and no hardcore versions. It divides the playerbase in a deconstructive way and makes weapon and vehicle balance difficult to achieve.

More map diversity in terms of size and vehicles. The majority of the maps in BF4 are large maps with AA and helicopters and more. Where are the medium sized maps with only ground vehicles like BF3 had with Grand Bazaar and Seine Crossing?

There's a plethora more things I'd like to see done differently but far too much to put in a single post.

I only just bought BF4, so I only hope it won't come out in 2016, so I can actually enjoy my purchase before everyone moves on.

WWII would be the best, but futuristic is so common nowadays. Might skip it, if that's the case. Tired of that shit.

Wat....
BF4 is now over 2 years old... a lot of people already moved on. I moved on too. The game is just boring now after 2 years for me.

You had enough time to buy BF4 and enjoying it.

BF5 will happen in 2016.

BF4 came out in 2013. That's a 3 year gap.

It was only 2 years between Battlefield 3 and 4.

Certainly not a selfish attitude lol.

I know, and it's aweful. I've been disappointed with so many MP games as of late. Not necessarily the games themselves, but the promise of others getting it too so I'm not running around alone.
Especially annoying if a game costs 100 bucks to actually play along with everyone. Those season passes are getting ridiculous, so I wait for a pricedrop to ~50 euro's at the least.

Took ages to convince some people on my Steam/Xfire(when it was still up) etc to get BF4 during this sale.

I certainly know I am no longer buying any MP game until my friends buy it before me and see their activity for the first 2 weeks...

10 hour minimum single player campaign sandbox. The last two campaigns = garbage.
For both BF3 and BF4's single player I gave up on the first mission. So god damn boring and by the numbers. I was lucky and had a roommate who liked playing them for me, so I got the weapon unlocks at least.

Its not just sales, but also retention. The population retention on BF4 has been fantastic, tons still play it consistently. Bad Compay has a minor vocal group of fans, but the numbers to EA are going to tell a totally different story with how well the numbered games are selling and retaining player base.

It's the same with how people act like BF4's launch was a disaster that ruined the franchise, yet that is just the vocal minority complaining, when the game did amazingly well despite it's supposedly awful release.

BC2's campaign was the definition of by the numbers COD clone too, just with some jokes tossed in. The campaign gameplay was no different from any other SP short shooter campaign, yet people act like it's something special cause of a few jokes tossed in? BC1 while being a mess campaign wise, had alot more originality and fun involved in it.

BF4 definitely seems more successful than people give it credit for.

If it can be a remake of BF 2142 with a few tweaks, they will have me sold. Haven't played BF since BF3.

I bought/owned BF2, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and BF Vietnam. I almost bought 2142, but the user base died off real quick before I was going to buy.

BF2>2142>BF3>all the other BFs

BF4 came out in 2013. That's a 3 year gap.

It was only 2 years between Battlefield 3 and 4.

yeah and it clearly wasn't enough time either... more like 2.5 years before bf4 was actually playable.

2 years should be normally a good window... however you would have expected games like hardline and battlefront to count for this, hardline was just a fail pretty much.

Also futuristic means more annoying fucking auto-aim gimmicky gadget bullshit that is the worst aspect of modern BF.

Agreed. Annoys me to no end.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP
THEY HAVE A LOCK!
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP
THEY HAVE A LOCK!
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP
THEY HAVE A LOCK...

Can I fly for two seconds without every goddamn thing on the map locking on to me!? For this reason alone (I'm being perfectly rational!) I'd be fine with going back to the past. Want to shoot something down? Aim!

Battlefield 4 was amazing when it eventually worked. It needs to work out of the box to b successful. Another bad launch and it will be game over. For all the complaints battlefront works and looks great. I would be happy if battlefield 5 does the same

I don't count Hardline. Different dev.

2143 is honesty the most likely from where they were already heading, even if it's just called Battlefield 5

As long as it has Titan mode, it can be called whatever the fuck it likes!
