NeoGAF Votes: Most Anticipated Game of 2016 (Voting has been over for weeks)

1. Uncharted 4 A Thief's End: Considering I look at Naughty Dog as the worlds best studio and Uncharted has become one of my all time favourite series, this is no brainer. My expectations are very very very high, but ND always surpass them.
2. Horizon Zero Dawn: Guerilla have always been a dev I loved ever since KZ2 and to see them stretch their technology and artistic talents into a new IP that involves mecha dinosaurs and other creatures has me salivating.
3. No Man's Sky: Smoke a bowl and explore 18 quintillion planets whilst trying to get to the centre of the universe? Fucking yes please.
4. Mass Effect Andromeda: The space opera epic coming back will no doubt amaze and surprise with visuals, exploration and heavy RPG elements
5. The Last Guardian: Loved Ico and SoTC and seeing Trico's triumphant and beautiful return at E3 makes me want to go on this journey now.
6. Gravity Rush 2: GR1 was a masterpiece on Vita and knowing Kat is back on the PS4 when the IP looked dead has me very excited
7. South Park the Fractured But Whole: Stick of Truth was the funniest game of all time so I expect even more laughs and crazy role playing from Cartmen and co.
8. Firewatch: Beautifully narrative driven game. Love the aspect of being alone in Wyoming and the protag is played expertly by Mad Men alumni Rich Sommers
9. Alienation: House Marque are kings of gameplay and expanding on the foundation of Dead Nation with a heavy emphasis on co op is just a god send
10. Persona 5: Having recently started P4G to see what the fuss is about...yeah this RPG is going to consume my life.

1) Mass Effect Andromeda : mass effect is probably my favourite series of all time - so can't wait for a new entry. Hope the multiplayer is as fun as ME3
2) Deus Ex: Mankind Divided : The original is one of the best games ever and I love the series
3) Dark Souls 3 : Loved Bloodborne, and never played any of the Souls series - but it looks great. as an xb1 owner this is the closest I'll get to Bloodborne.
4) Yooka Layee : Looks amazing - great team behind it
5) Uncharted 4 : Don't own a PS4 - but this is bound to be an amazing game - Naughty Dog are the best developers out there for me.
6) Dishonored 2 : Really enjoyed the original - hoping this is great as well
7) Crackdown : hope this turns out as good as the videos suggest...
8) Gears 4 : never played any of this series until the recent remaster. Wow love it
9) Scalebound : I hate the stupid headphones and the punk kid - but hoping the rest of the game plays out well...
10) Sea of Thieves : Rare used to be great - I hope this is a return to form.

1. Dark Souls 3
2. Uncharted 4
3. Horizon Zero Dawn
4. The Last Guardian
5. Final Fantasy XV
6. Doom
7. Mass Effect Andromeda
8. Dishonored 2
9. Overwatch

1. The Last Guardian : Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are two of my all time favorite games.
2. Uncharted 4 : The new trailers got me hyped.
3. Persona 5 : 3 & 4 were both fantastic.
4. XCOM 2 : I've been a huge fan of the series since I played the original.
5. Total War Warhammer : Even though I love strategy games, I could never get into the Total War series. Perhaps the 6. Warhammer theme will finally pull me in.
7. Ratchet and Clank : I never played any of the PS2 titles. Now is my chance to experience the series from the beginning.
8. The Witness : Puzzle games are usually fun and with its January releasee this should be a good start of the year.
9. Mass Effect Andromeda : I enjoyed all the previous games in the series and I'd love to see a new game with a new cast.
10. Mount & Blade II Bannerlord : I absolutely loved Warband, but all this wait for a sequel has turned me off a bit from the series.

Using ";" as deliminator would be more compatible with game titles, with the exception for Steins;Gate.

Need to see more of Scalebound, Yooka-Laylee, and Star Fox Zero to determine whether they'll match expectations, but yeah those two on the list are given. Not much that truly excites me but think it's going to be an ok year since we'll see some NX games like Pikmin, 3D Mario and maaaybe retro so that should be fun.

5. Gravity Rush 2

8. Alienation
9. Unravel
10. The Division

1. Persona 5: P4G is my favorite JRPG so I'm having high hopes for P5

2. Dark Souls 3: I'm still having withdrawals from Dark Soul 1 and I'm hoping DS3 will be closer to 1 than 2.

3. Zero Time Dilemma: Virtues Last Reward was my first visual novel and I immediately fell in love with the genre.

4. Last Guardian: We waited so long :)

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
1. Mass Effect Andromeda : I'm a total addict of the Mass Effect-games. A bit soured after the third entry, like everyone, but the prosepct of leaving everything and starting a new is too thrilling. Even though I'm on total media blackout there's a kid in me wanting to enjoy every single second of this.

2. Dreams : The reason why I play games is perfectly manifest in this game. When I first saw it I was flabbergasted. It was what I always dreamed of. If this is as good as it looks I might never need another game. I'm bound to be disappointed but I'm too impressed to give a damn.

3. Rez Infinite : One of the best games ever gets a perfect re-release. You just can't say no to that. When I heard the first sounds of the trailer I felt giddy all over. This is one of the most profound experiences I've had in gaming and I can't wait to return to it.

4. The Last Guardian : When myth turns to legend and then all of a sudden gets a release date it's hard to not be cautiously optimistic. It's the game on this list that I have the least faith in. It's also the game that, if done properly, would be an instant classic in anyone's book.

5. Overwatch : There's something just so fun about this game. Haven't played it and the first fps I've gotten excited about in a very long time. Blizzard has been doing so many things right these last couple of years and I have no doubt this is amazing.

6. Horizon Zero Dawn : Everything just seems so well made. There's real craftsmanship at displayed everytime they show this game. It's hard not to be impressed. I have no clue how the game will play out. It might be my dream game or it might just be a really good game. Only time will tell.

7. No Man's Sky : I doubt this'll be as good as it is hyped to be but I'm looking forward to it regardless. The more I see of it the less I'm looking forward to playing it. It just needs to get released.

8. Gravity Rush 2 : The logo sold me. The soundtrack sold me. It even made me excited about the remaster of the first game, which I haven't played. There's so much right it's hard to pick out the negatives. Bring 'em on.

9. Bound : Dancing animations, Plastic, Philip Glass inspired music and REZ-like worlds is enough to sell me on anything. Can't wait to play this. Linger in Shadows is a masterpiece and there's simply too much time between now and release.

10. South Park The Fractured But Whole : How can you not be excited for the game with the best title in all of gaming history.

So many games coming out next year, it's difficult to pick up only 10 titles, but here's my list (going to edit it later):
  1. The Last Guardian
  2. Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
  3. Iconoclasts
  4. Nier: Automata
  5. The Witness
  6. Persona 5
  7. Gravity Rush 2
  8. Dark Souls III
  9. Horizon: Zero Dawn
  10. Street Fighter V
Runners-up: Uncharted 4, FFXV, DQ Builders, KH HD II.8, DOAX3, Ni-Oh, Shadow of the Beast, Alienation, Unravel, Zelda U.

Firewatch
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
No Man's Sky
Gravity Rush 2
Death's Gambit
Ni-oh
Deliverance: Kingdom Come
The Last Guardian
Hyper Light Drifter

1. Gravity Rush 2 ;
So hyped for this. I love the first game, and this is already looking like a sharp improvement in a lot of ways.
2. Horizon: Zero Dawn ;
Mainly because of the robot fucking dinosaurs. What, you want more?!
3. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End ;
Naughty Dog are one of the best developers in the world and this is looking amazing. I hope they've learnt a lot of lessons from TLoU and I have a lot of faith in them.
4. Firewatch ;
Looks really interesting and immersive, and should be a nice mix between actual gameplay and exploration, and a walking simulator (to be clear, I like walking simulators).
5. Hyper Light Drifter ;
My most wanted Kickstarter game. I love the art, the music and the premise. Really looking forward to this.
6. Death's Gambit ;
Absolutely love the look of this, with amazing pixel art and incredible-looking bosses.
7. The Last Guardian ;
This would be a bit higher but I'm trying to be a bit of a realist given its development drama. Still excited about this, but laced with caution.
8. No Man's Sky ;
Similar to the above, I think this could be amazing but at this point it has been teased for too long and I'm interested in seeing more of the structure and actual gameplay.
9. Ni-oh ;
This basically looks like Samurai Souls, which as far as I'm concerned is a really great concept. Hopefully Team Ninja will be back on form with this one.
10. Deliverance: Kingdom Come ;
Another Kickstarter development. Basically looks like The Elder Scrolls, but more realistic and set in Medieval Europe. And with vastly improved combat.

Honourable mentions to Salt and Sanctuary, Cosmic Star Heroine, Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Dreams.

Right, I think that's me done. I'll go back and edit my original post.

Creaking

He touched the black heart of a mod
1. Uncharted 4 : Tried to be only mildly interested, but every new bit of the game they show gets me hooked by the femur. Now m
2. Dreams : Media Molecule is on another plane of existence as developers. Game looks insane. I loved LBP, and though Dreams is still a little incorporeal in my mind right now, I'm sure the more I see of it (please let me get in the beta) and the closer we get to its release, the more ecstatic I'll get. (edit: actually not sure if this is a 2016 game. Wikipedia said so, but I can't find any sources. Seemed correct... If it doesn't qualify, then just ignore this entry and rate the others as they are currently listed)
3. Mirror's Edge Catalyst : Loved the first Mirror's Edge, and I've been very excited and a little worried about this long-awaited sequel. Funny how franchises have been born and have dried up in the time this game gets one sequel. 8 of the 9 major Assassin's Creed games released during that period.
4. Deus Ex Mankind Divided : I'm not very good at math, so I don't really like to get involved with division, but I like robots.
5. The Last Guardian : Never did finish Shadow of the Colossus, but after a crazy wait I can't help but be curious to see how The Last Guardian pans out.
6. Dishonored 2 : First one was some good fun, I hope the second one adds to that in significant ways, rather than just being mostly iterative with a few new gimmicks.

Not actually hyped for as many games as I thought I was. I suppose I'm excited for expansion content for the likes of Fallout 4 and Black Ops 3 though. I'm also hopeful for unannounced titles to pop up and release within the year (SoulCalibur VI pleeease). As for what's already been announced... not that many strong feelings.

1. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - I really digged Uncharted 2 and 3 and I am under the impression that this might be one of the games to finally convince me that this gen wasn't once called next gen for nothing.
2. Street Fighter V - usually I am not interested in fighting games but I made an exception and bought GG Xrd: SIGN this year and really liked it. Only complaint were the really complex mechanics. I might be wrong but SFV at least looks a bit more easy to get into to me.
3. Dark Souls III - loved Bloodborne, although I never played a Souls game. No incentive on buying DS2 somehow and already sold my PS3, so no DeS and DS1 either. So this might be my next FROM title.
4. Ratchet & Clank - looks great so far and I didn't play a jump&run for a while.
5. The Last Guardian - expectations...
6. Full Throttle Remastered - just watched a Lets Play of the original and since I already sold my own copy I can't wait for this.
7. Doom - I loved Quake 3 back in the days and hope this will turn out like an old-school shooter.
8. Horizon Zero Dawn - footage looks nice so far. Interested in those robotic dinosaurs.
9. Persona 5 - not too much into JRPGs but I really like the art style I've seen so far.
10. No Man's Sky - only moderately hyped.

1. Persona 5: Can't wait, absolutely loved Number 4

2. Zelda WiiU: Finally conquer Hyrule with Linkle and save Prince Zeldo!

3.Genei Ibun Roku ♯FE: Super Stoked one this one, please don't fuck it up with a English Dub, I want Japanese with sub!

4. Fire Emblem Fates (all 3, you know what I mean:): Can't come soon enough, I need my SRPG fix, fast!!! Disagaea 5 works only at home

5. South Park: The Fractured but Whole: One of the best last year, it's only fitting, also i'm a big Parker&Stone Fanboy!

6. Horizon: Zero Dawn: Trailer got me pretty stoked, can't wait for more

7. Gravity Rush 2: Loved the first, finally for my TV :)

8. Nier: Automata: Didn't play the first, but platinum sold me on this one

9. Scalebound: PLATINUM, may be the only developer who can sell me an XBONE

10. Quantum Break: Or maybe not number 9?

Honorable Mentions
x. Starfox Zero: Platinum X Nintendo was a good sale on W101 and Bayonetta, but the dual screen leaves me skeptical.
x. Hyper Light Drifter : Very eager to see more of this little Gem
x. ReCore : Don't think next year, so...
x. Cuphead: Very nice flair, hope it's still playable, and not super hardcore hard.
x. Rez infinite: one of my GOAT, would be my 4th buy. Let's see, if this one sell's me on VR. Tried Oculus once, with a shitty Demo, hated it!
Also Area fucking X, that's so XXX
x. XCOM2: Only here, because there's still no announcement for a Console-Port

6. Zelda Wii U
7. TLG
8. No Man's Sky
9. Ratchet and Clank
10. Firewatch

Honorable mentions to Dark Souls 3, Danganronpa 3 (if it releases next year) Gravity Rush 2 and The Division

1. Final Fantasy XV - Been waiting an age for this. FFXIII disappointed, but this looks like it could be epic.
2. Uncharted 4 - Pretty much enjoyed all of ND's games. This will be incredible.
3. Gravity Rush 2 - The first is my favourite Vita game. Looks charming and awesome
4. The Last Guardian - Will be a memborable experience.
5. Horizon: Zero Dawn - RPG with a great setting and a wacky premise.
6. Dragon's Quest XI - Really enjoyed DQ8, and this is a return to that formula.
7. Nier Automata - Never played the first, this looks cool.
8. Deus Ex - I think the boost in production values will do this series a lot of favours.
9. Ratchet and Clank - Looks great.
10. Mass Effect Andromeda - Big reservations about this series, but hopefully they can put it on the right track after ME2 and 3...More exploration, less modular level design.

If all, or even most, of these make, 2016 will be the best year for games ever. Dreams would easily be on there but I don't think it will hit 2016. There is also Kingdom Come, which I have already bought, No Man's Sky, Abzu, Hunger, Unravel, KH 2.8 and many more...

1. Scalebound. Kamiya, influenced by ALBW, big budget, resources. And he's in good form after W101. The reason i bought an X1.

2. Sea of Thieves. I can't explain it, and I'm probably setting myself up for a fail but a vintage Rare experience with modern shared world/ co op gaming and pirate loot. Good lord it sounds like potential. I'm hoping for an ambitious free DLC rollout ala Halo 5 and Splatoon.

3. Cuphead. Drooooool. Love 2D, so in the zone for a 2D run and gun with that presentation. Expect the gameplay to be beyond tight, hope to play it with an elite controller.

4. Legend of Zelda U. Haven't seen a lot, and it's getting by on it's name at this point and I do feel a little bit of Zelda fatigue ATM otherwise it would be higher.

5. Tides of Noumera: Planescape. PoE showed me that my love for isometric epic WRPG is strong (never in doubt, really), and I love what I've read about the world and execution of morality in this title. Headphones + bottle(s) of wine= many hours of awesome.

6. Gears of War 4. THE stop and pop shooter. Series is so ready for a semi reboot with this title and the early indications are it's taking itself seriously, will be gritty and focus on a more personal experience with fear and horror coming back into the mix.

7. Quantum Break. I'm a real Max Payne kind of a guy so that's why this will get my attention. Love the time travelling/ physics themes and the gameplay looks visceral. Should deliver.

8.Dishonored 2. Love the dual protagonist idea, and the splitting narrative etc, Dishonored 1 felt real good to play. Think this will be a better title.

9. Overwatch. Looks fun, will be polished. Blizzard do f2p well and i can tolerate it so I hope this delivers on the gameplay because I want to try it.

10. Doom. Wolfenstein showed me how fun the story based shooter can be. I'm not sure if this is competitive or story focussed but the gunplay looks spot on. And if it delivers a high level experience I'm there with a smile

Honourable mention

South Park: Fractured But Whole Sucks that it's not Obsidian, but the original was a damn fun time
XCOM2 Love the reboot, but might not play it unless it comes to consoles

1. Mass Effect: Andromeda : I'll be there day 1. One of my absolute favourite series.

2. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided : Human Revolution is easily one of my favourite games of last gen. Can't wait.

3. Uncharted 4 : I can't see this being remotely shit.

4. Gears of War 4 : Enough time has passed. I need more Gears.

5. The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine : Hearts of Stone was better than most full games released in 2015. If this is as good, it will be incredible.

6. Rise of the Tomb Raider : I gave it a miss on Xbox One... can't wait to fire it up on PC.

7. Mafia III : Huge fan of Mafia 2 and this looks pretty interesting so far.

8. Nier: Automata : I still can't believe this is being made. I don't think it's sunk in.

9. The Banner Saga 2 : The first one was just a beautiful game. More, please.

10. Final Fantasy XV : Keeping my optimism in check for now...

1. Mass Effect: Andromeda : Loved the trilogy so i hope i will fall in love with this game again :)
2. Final Fantasy XV : Waiting on this one since the first trailer, when it was still named FF XIII-Versus, it's about damn time this is releases
3. Uncharted 4 : What can i say, i trust Naught Dog on this One, will be a hell of a game
4. The Last Guardian : Like FF XV i waited for this title a long time, give it to me !!
5. Horizon Zero Dawn : Great announcement, great graphics, now GG have to show us, what they can do besides Killzone !!
6. Mirrors Edge : A Game where you can't shoot and you are parcouring in an open world, i'm sold
7. Ratchet & Clank : I'm just amazed every time i see this game, it's like you watch a pixar movie, but you can play it ^^
8. Killing Floor 2 (PS4) : just waiting for this fun looking coop massacre game
9. No Man's Sky : nearly Endless Universe to explore, yes!
10. Wild : Looks really promising, hopefully they release it next year

1. The Last Guardian
2. Zelda WiiU
3. Uncharted 4
4. Horizon: Zero Dawn
5. The Tomorrow Children
6. Hunger
7. Abzu
8. Summer Lesson
9. Ace Attorney 6
10. Rime

1. Dark Souls III : Miyazaki is the best game designer on the planet.
2. Scalebound : Kamiya is the second best. Also: dragons!
3. Uncharted 4 : MP is fun, both SP demos looked fantastic. Most dynamic TPS around.
4. Cuphead : Played this at Gamescom. It's a Treasure game that looks like an old cartoon.
5. Zelda : I'm always down for a new Zelda and the art style is wonderful.
6. Hitman: Everything screams return to form and it looks beautiful.
7 The Witness : That release date trailer sealed the deal. Looks fantastic.
8. Death's Gambit : 2D Souls!
9. Salt & Sanctuary : More 2D Souls!
10. The Last Guardian : I still believe in Ueda and the E3 footage looked great I thought.

1. Dark Souls 3 : With Miyazaki this time.
2. Deus Ex Mankind Divided : Human Revolution surprised us all. They have a talented team, can't wait to play this.
3. XCOM 2 : Simplified or not, XCOM was loads of fun for me. Hoping they'll keep it up.
4. Persona 5 : Loved 3 and liked 4. The footage so far is promising.
5. The Last Guardian: Love Shadow of the Colossus, ICO is very good too. With Sony's track record with this game though, this is more of a tentative placement. I wouldn't bet large sums of money on it releasing in 2016.
6. The Banner Saga 2 : Absolutely fantastic art and atmosphere, some memorable characters, quite a bit of suspense on your first playthrough. Everything else could use some improvement but I can't wait to continue the saga.
7. Final Fantasy XV : The more I learn about this game, the less interested I am. Plus it has that uncertainty about it like The Last Guardian.
8. Dishonored 2 : Dishonored had a really cool setting and some great level design. Everything else felt lacking to me but giving this one a try just to delve into that world again.
9. Mirror's Edge 2 : Similar to Dishonored in that it has a solid foundation to build on and lots of room for improvement. That EA logo always worries me though.
10. No Man's Sky : I'm more cautious than optimistic but if they pull it off, it could be amazing.

It's not a new game so I'm only giving it an honorable mention, but Dragon's Dogma in high resolution and 60FPS will be bliss to play. Also, I think it's reasonable to assume Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord is coming in 2016 as well, although I haven't found official confirmation for it. Would be at the top of my list otherwise.

Neogaf 2015: Uncharted 4

RIP to whatever we choose this year.
The winner will probably be Uncharted again or Persona 5 from what I've seen. Of the most popular choices I think Horizon and ME Andromeda are the most likely to be delayed so the trend could definitely continue if one of those wins.

1. Uncharted 4 : I've always liked Uncharted games, and Naughty Dog's last game became my GOAT. Absolutely no doubt about this first place.
2. The Last Guardian : Only in a year with Uncharted 4 coming out could THE LAST FREAKING GUARDIAN not take first place.
3. Persona 5 :

5. Deus Ex : Hopeful and fearful for it at the same time.
6. Ni-Oh : Samurai Souls? Count me in
7. Gravity Rush 2 : Would have been higher if I had played the first one, I'd bet

10. Zelda U : Probably not going to play it, I'm just curious about the direction it's heading.

1. Horizon: Zero Dawn - GG, thank you for this new IP. I've never cared about the other franchise you've done.

2. Ratchet and Clank - One of my favourite games on ps2 era. I hope this sells well so we get more.

3. Star Ocean 5 - Please be better than or at least equal to SO2. Or much much much much better than SO4.

4. 100 ft Robot Golf - Robot? Check! Mayhem? Check! Stupidly ridiculous but interesting premise? Check!

5. Gravity Rush 2 - *Throws vita out*

Did anybody of think, that maybe the developer's read exactly these list, and think: OMG, our game is the most hyped, we can't disappoint, let's delay and polish it some more, and we'll get a second award without even realizing.

No way Cyberpunk is out in 2016, so that will have to wait for the Most Anticipated Games of 2017 list.

EDIT: didn't reading the rules, RIME also has no release date, although I believe it will be out in 2016.

1. Mass Effect Andromeda. I greatly enjoyed DA:I and can't wait to play the same kind of semi-open world using ME2-3 combat and backdrop. Eagerly waiting for this one.
2. Xcom 2. The first one's ironman mode gave me some of the most intense moments I ever had in a videogame. Pure fun.
3. Deus Ex Mankind Divided. Human Revolution was pretty good and the developers have been honest and hit the mark about its flaws. I have high hopes for the sequel.
4. Dishonored 2. The first one was a surprise. Excellent, very immersive game in an awesome setting. I hope the sequel will have a better, stealth-oriented skill tree.
5. Uncharted 4. I don't really care about the gameplay, but Uncharted always delivers on the spectacle front.
6. Mirror's Edge Catalyst. I really liked the first one for some reason, although I consider it a very flawed game.
7. Dark Souls III. It should have been my number one choice as a Souls fan, but I was never able to finish the Bloodborne DLC do to the extreme difficulty. I'll cautiously wait for reviews before buying.
8. Assassin's Creed 2016 Yearly Entry. Sue me, but Syndicate was great fun, and with the movie tie-in and the buying public punishing the series after Unity, they will need to try really hard next year. In addition, the likely asian setting pikes my interest.
9. Horizon: Zero Dawn. Awesome reveal. I'm intrigued by those RPG elements, I expect something similar to the new Tomb Raiders, which would be perfect IMHO.
10. Doom. I don't know why I'm looking forward for this, because everything shown thus far is a complete disgrace and an abomination in all fronts. The nostalgia power is too strong, though :(

Cyberpunk 2077 would be in my list, but a 2016 release is wishful thinking IMHO.

There are many other titles I'm waiting for, even if not in this list. Ratchet, Quantum Break, Star Ocean, etc. A very strong year.
